  1. Confusing on French Lawmakers Approve 'iTunes Law' · · Score: 0

If you can't afford an ipod, you probbaly can't afford to buy music online either. The ipod is in the highest bracket of the market, they sell their product to people who can afford the best product and who can afford to buy music. The cheap knock off mp3 players are generally only used by people who pirate all their music, so I don't see the point in opening up the Itunes market to them anyway....

Also, people who don't use ipods generally don't have as much love for music as ipod users. Basically, buying a stripped down no-name mp3 player is doing a disrespect to the music you listen to. I for one am I big U2 fan, so I bought the U2 ipod to listen to U2 and show my love for this talented Irish Group.

Look, someone who is a loner and is into guns and bombs and anti-government rhetoric IS A RISK. Everyone but the naive knows it, some of you don't want to admit it. McVey, the unibomber, the columbine kids, and most other psychos exactly fit the profile of this person in question.

Sure most of the time those people are guilty of nothing but being weird but you never hear about people who are involved with their community, go to church, and participate in sports going on a killing rampage.

If you hate the government, fight it the right way. Organize peaceful protests, write your representatives, get involved somehow. Going on about guns and bombs at the same time as you go on about hating the government is a very stupid thing to do. There is the right to freedom of speech but people also have the right to FEEL SAFE. Especially in these crazy, crazy times.

  10. American vs Japanese cell service on How's Your Cell Service? · · Score: 0, Troll

I remember when I was in Japan I was impressed by their vastly superior cell phone technology. 3g phones which double as pdas and have video capability. And the size, very impressive. More people use cell phones in Japan than traditional copper wire service, which cost a lot there as it is.

I'm hoping one day we will catch up to the Japanese in cell phone technology but that is unlikely as they are far far ahead of America in almost every department. While our students are lazy and self centered individuals, the Japanese youth know the value of conformity and hard work. Ever hear of crime or poverty in Japan ? There isn't much. Gun control along with a generally more polite attitude keeps crime there very low. We Americans could learn a lot from the Japanese, although we are still the best damn country in the world our technology is slightly lacking!

  11. Ouch on AMD, Transmeta Edge Up In Market Share · · Score: 0, Flamebait

I think the real loser here is IBM/Apple... are they part of the 1.8% minority that includes transmeta also ?

I mean the numbers speak for themselves anyway.. Intel obviously has the best technology going for them right now.. You can buy a p4 that is way above 3ghz while apple only recently started selling 1ghz+ (g4,g5 based) systems. Athlon seems to not be able to clock above 2.2ghz (although their formulated and faulty pr rating attempts to inflate this). The opteron doesn't look too good either, clocking in at only 1.6ghz and losing out on most tests against the p4, xeon, and even athlon! Although amd has come a long way in recent years my money is on intel!

  12. makes sense on AMD: No Grease For You! · · Score: -1, Troll

The heatsink that comes with the chip is more than adequate to cool it down. Using any other heatsink or thermal compound is a waste of time. I have been running my AMD system for well over a year with no problems using the retail fan + heatsink.

The only reason you would want to use another brand is if you overclock, which voids the warrenty anyway!

  13. java? on IBM To Publish Java Office Suite · · Score: -1, Flamebait

Why did they choose to use java and not the faster and more modern C# ? Seeing the legal issues associated with using java these days (Microsoft was a victim of sun's harh contracts), as well as it's lackluster performance, this looks like a foolish idea for IBM indeed.
