Key summary points -------------- Malware authors update their multi-vendor anti virus signatures faster than most end users and enterprises do altogether
The high pressure put on malware authors by the experienced vendors is causing them to unite efforts and assets, and realize that it's hard to compete on their own. Yet this doesn't stop them from waging a war in between
Intellectual property theft worms have to potential to dominate in today's knowledge-driven society acting as tools for espionage
Don't matter what you always wanted to do to ecriminals, in case of a cryptoviral extortion, you'll be the one having to initiate the contact
The growing Internet population, E-commerce flow, and the demand for illegal/unethical services, would fuel the development of an Ecosystem, for anything, but legal
The "Web as a platform" is a powerful medium for malware attackers understanding the new Web
The unprecedented growth of E-commerce would always remain the main incentive for illegal activities
7.0 Conclusion --------------
I hope that the points I have raised in this research, would prove valuable to both end users, businesses and anti-virus vendors. The Internet as a growing force shaping our ways of thinking and living is as useful, as easy to exploit as well. The clear growth in E-commerce, today's open-source nature of malware, the growing penetration of the Internet in respect to insecure connected PCs, are among the main driving factors of the scene. Do your homework and stay ahead of the threats, most of all, less branding when making security decisions, but high preferences! No, it wouldn't. Within a virtual machine, you can only access the file on the host machine that contain your virtual machine's "harddisk". You can't access files on the host machine itself.
And while every other aspect of the gregorian calendar can be described in just a few lines of code
Might be true, there are other quite tricky bits in the calendar as well. Although not quite part of the original gregorian calendar, try calculating the ISO week number.
I wonder why Google has decided, against their own interests, to go after fraudsters like this.
I think it's a long term strategy from Google. If they would embrace the revenue generated by the scammers, the real and legitimate advertisers would get less out of their ads, and in the end stop using Google for marketing.
MITs $100 laptop was unveiled at the Seven Countries Task Force Meeting. It runs a special version of the Fedora linux

I think the british have surpassed the french in strike for holiday actions.
Wasn't it just the other day that the tube union went on strike yet again because their working day of 35 hour was too long.

A nuclear powered iPod would have been much cooler. Hopefully that'd sort out the battery problems...
So how much evil radiation does the iPod really emit?
It would be much more interesting to see how much radiation songs played emit.
I guess Radiohead would score quite high.... *ducks*
AOL has a reputation of being a bad ISP, and also creating bad software for it's users. Will this move help AOL, or hurt Google?
;-)
Congratulations on getting modded +5 Interesting, for stating the obvious without adding anything to the discussion.

Ahhh... I see
With these sidebar plugins it looks like Google are taking a stab against Microsoft Outlook.
Outlook Email = Gmail
Outlook Tasks = Todo Plugin
Outlook Calendar = Clock Plugin?
I for one would love to have my Outlook at work accessible over the web.

The sense of community generated by the BBS network is found now in specialized Yahoo! Groups.
Don't know what BBSs you dialed, but I can tell you that a Yahoo group is unfortunately nowhere near the sense of community achieved in my local ones.
Bear in mind that the Optimus keyboard is expected in 2006 and is yet only at prototype stage.

The idea of Requires Windows 2000 or Windows XP is for the birds.
I get the idea! Mainframes are for sexist men, Windows is for birds.

I thought this wasn't considered to be a bug, and that the problem was with Slashcode's HTML?

What about yourself? Look at the design of your post! Half of it in bold, no line breaks.
Pfff!
If you don't know where your friends are -- they aren't your friends.
I'd say, if you've got so few friends you know where all of them are at any given moment, THEN you are a geek.
