Tune in to Nectarine to hear game and demo music!

On the other hand, this might also have its advantages. We wouldn't have to be anti MS AND anti AOL anymore because it would be just one thing or one enemy less.

  4. Re:If they had a seperate area code for cell phone on Cellphone Number Portability -- A Big Lie? · · Score: 1

That's pretty much the same system we have in germany, too. There are designated prefixes for cell phones, grouped by carriers. Now you can take your number with you when switching providers.
But this is really not as cool as you might think because there are different rates when calling numbers of different cell providers. And calling a number of carrier A can be twice as expensive as calling a number of carrier B.

And now with the prefix-carrier relation gone, there is no way for to find out how much the call actually will be. I think there is a service number that i can call and ask but that's really not very userfriendly.

Well in this case you couldn't know better. Not everybody will be affected by strobe lights and other patterns and you usually don't know until you find out. I think it is irresponsible to let your son play any video game when you know that he suffers from epilepsy. Warnings on the packaging can only indicate that there might be a higher risk because the game makes extensive use of lighting effects but in general seizure can be triggered by almost anything and it will depend on the individual.

true, but what about BIOS passwords? And then again why would that thief be smart enough to get the passwords but smart enough to avoid somebody elses AOL account?

  18. I don't get it on Laptop Thief Caught via AOL Login · · Score: 0

This story sounds just too weird for me. First of all there is a bank that stores sensitive customer-related material on a laptop. How can this happen in the first place? Why would anybody do this?
And how can you let that computer get stolen? Since when do people leave sensitive stuff open in their offices? Why not simply lock it away?

Second, how can that thief still use the laptop? Because When you really have to store sensitive data on such a machine, you would do everything to secure this machine, right? At least strong Passwords in the OS and the Bios...
Or maybe that user was logged in when the laptop was stolen? That wouldn't make the situation much better though.

Also, would you install Internet Dial-Up on a machine that carries sensitive data? I don't think so. The news post aren't really clear in that matter, but if it was the private account of the notebook owner, then i ask myself again: 'How can this happen?'. How can a company allow personal internet dial-up on a computer with sensitive data?

And then why in the world would anybody use a dialup-account on a stolen computer? That's just so stupid...

Anyway, my impression from this whole story is that the guys at WF did a sloppy job in securing sensitive data and had more luck than they ever deserved in finding that thief.

And as long as you're just talking about a blog and a simple gallery, that should really be not too hard. If you already know - for example - php or perl, this should be an easy job for you. If you don't, this is YOUR chance to pick up some skills.
