The problem is that there are "Progressives" in BOTH parties. It's not about left/right or liberal/conservative or even Republican/Democrat. Nixon, both Bushes, Carter and Obama were/are Progressives.

Personally I believe that the government that governs best governs least.

What you and everyone else just can't seem to grasp is that it is the very "peer review process" that has been compromised. In climate science peer review has become nothing more than a circle jerk, so claiming something has been peer reviewed means diddly squat.

Until we can trust the process, climate science is just a bunch of claims and counter-claims. Of course, this new U.N. panel is a waste of time.

Most scientists didn't take part in the madness back then the way they're doing this time, but some did. The key word used back then was "imminent". Bah! The public never knew who to believe anyway, just like now. Junk science then; junk science now. Not much real science going on in the climate business.

I heard Michael D. Griffin (former head of NASA) interviewed on the radio this morning, and he was very pessimistic about this budget. He hoped that Congress would make some changes and fund NASA the way it should be funded.

You have to remember that NASA's budget was cut severely during the Clinton administration, and was basically kept at the lower level of funding throughout the Bush administration.

Personally I don't see the private sector being able to do in the foreseeable future what NASA does now. We're talking about a VERY tiny part of the nation's overall budget, and government wastes more than that just about every day.
