remember that a lot of xbox games are now supporting 480i and 720p resolutions, and some are 1080i... i'm not sure if Halo2 will fall into that category, but it is possible..
$179 will not get you a better video board that will be capable of running doom 3 on a pc.... remember all of those people playing the leaked alpha and seeing the "doom 3 slideshow"? xbox is now $179, and the video they show is running on an xbox.
I don't own a PS2, so I can't play Gran Turismo, but I have Meytropolitan Street Racing for dreamcast as well as project gotham racing for xbox... I can tell you that if you are going to enjoy PGR2, you better like SHARP turns... all of the tracks are in a city setting (like as in downtown) and loaded with very sharp turns.. the kudos system is really cool...
if you like gran turismo type racing better, sega gt may be more up your alley with more open/high-speed tracks... sega gt is also going to suport xbox live this year...
The Nintendo and MS offerings seem similar in that they're only playing it safe and cashing in on their successful franchises, while we only see bold, innovative games coming from Sony.
I completely disagree with that statement (at least as it applies to Xbox). The big games for PS2 are Metal gear solid 3, jak and daxter 2, ratchet and clank 2, the 98th version of resident evil, final fantasy 11.... should I go on?
MS is bringing brute force, a new sports lineup (XSN sports) and a bunch of sequels that never were released on xbox (half life, doom, counter strike)... granted, there is not a ton of innovation, but Sony is doing a lot more sequels whoring than anyone else...
I agree with you. Features like that is why I don't mind paying $50 for live. There is no way an unctonrolled network like sony has can have a central stats repository. (btw: did you guys know that ngusa.com is now run by microsoft?)
One feature that I wish they would put into live is more control of the friends list (grouping friends into categories). It would also be nice if they would somehow show what live enabled games people on your friends list have.
Having some non xbox way (pc, cell phone) to see when a bud is online will be great. there are many times on the weekend where I fire up my xbox just to see if someone is online that I want to play with/against.
Amen to that... BF1942 for OSX just might push me over the edge and make me buy a new G4 (or G9 by the time EA finds someone to port it).. We all know how much EA likes us Mac people...
I know it is standard on macs (and has been for 3 or 4 years), but it is now just beginning to be standard on pcs (and an option on low and mid range PCs).
Additionally, "Firewire" is an Apple trademark so Gateway and Dell don't call it that (I believe).
That would bring the mp3 jukebox revolution to an even larger market
Remember that the iPod needs a firewire port also... Being able to synch you entire music collection up with your desktop in 10 minutes was a pretty big selling point of the iPod... I don't thingk firewire has filtered down to the masses yet...
I have not been impressed with anything EA has done in the past few years (except Madden). Madden is the only thing that EA does good.
What am I missing out on by not having EA games on live? Nothing except more lame "dumbed down for PS2" ports of sports games that are not that good to begin with. I can get a better (IMHO) sports game from Sega (2K series) that is Xbox live compatible.
EA is getting too big for their britches lately. They think they can run the industry. A few months back, they pulled their sports lineup form Nintendo. Last week, Nintendo announced a deal that would bring 20 titles to cube. I think they were just milking Nintendo for money (or a better deal). They are prolly trying the same with MS.
This is a good idea because it will give us Mac people somewhere to buy software (beside the internet). Stores do not generally have a robust selection of Mac software on their shelves. This would give them a way to have the selection without the shelves.
Even going P2P the selection of Mac software is bad (unless you are after office or photoshop).
I have to say that this is one of the funniest things I have seen in a long time...
Were the Horse Salesmen this mad at Henry Ford?

Still More RIAA News

The recording industry's business is out of date. They are trying to sell us horses when we all want cars. There are better ways to get music than paying $20 for a CD that only has 1 good song on it.
Could you imagine this country if an RIAA 'like' organization formed from horse trading companies in the early 1900's to try to keep Henry Ford from putting them out of business? Saying Henry Ford's Model T violated the HTIAA's patent on selling transportation methods.
Sure downloading copyrighted material is illegal, but they have to do somethign about it. Obviously people are fed up with $20 CDs.

Microsoft is (*gasp*) truly innovating here!

get it dude. you wont be disappointed. I have a cube and an xbox as well.
I cannot wait until halo 2 comes out.
yeah, and navigating to all that great info is easy thanks to the crap-tastic web design...
Is it me, or is that marble maddness website a complete eyesore?

you might see it too... I *believe* that splinter cell uses the UT2003 engine...
This minesweeper game works great for me...

Did any of you notice that the icon for this article is actually the IE icon for OSX?
here it is
Sounds like a good idea, but how do you CC someone? What about mailing lists?

subject says it all...
you can share files this way to (at least you can copy and paste entire files now in OSX)...
bubble boy was funny as hell... :P

Here is a pumpkin cannon some redneck out in indiana built out of a trailer home frame (most likely his)...
pumpkin cannon
I was reading the letter on museumtour.com and SBC makes lots of references to frames.
The specifically mention the document frame over and over.
On a side note, maybe we can blame SBC for frames!!
Halo is suposedly coming out for the PC summer 2003 and for the Mac, sometime in 2003.
Makes me a little pissed because I am a Mac owner that was heavily Halo on the Mac... I am only a little pissed because I also have an Xbox...
last i looked, mod chips were about $50.. I cannot get a faster pc for $250...
plus, there are a lot of really cool games for xbox
btw: I do not know how to build my own pc.
I have to say that this is one of the funniest things I have seen in a long time...
