Send in Rosie O'Donnell to work the fields, if the monkeys still want to hit that there may be no stopping them. Either that or send in some guys to hit on the monkey females while their mates are out cruising for the locals.
Is this why Eltons music has sucked since 1980? He was good in the 70's but since then he has sucked, pardon the pun. Is Sir Elton afraid the some kid in a basement studio will make a better album than his? Talent is talent no matter if it is a full band or some kid with a copy of Cubase or Pro-tools LE playing all the parts himself. Talent does fade in most people, leave just the gimmicks of strange glasses and over the top costumes. Sir Elton, the Vegas strip is calling your name, answer it.
You are right! I think this is a great idea for prince or whatever he is this week, to show the labels that they are nothing without the artists they leach off of. It also shows the true colors of the labels.....play our game or you won't be in the stores! If the record industry keeps it up they might actually be able to be busted by RICO statutes.
I would like to have one of the working Sandman guns from Logans Run. It was a glorified lighter, but it surely looked cool with the flames shooting out at angles.
I live in Northern California and despite having Comcast as my ISP I watch TV on Dish. If AT&T can offer FIOS like speeds of 15Mbps or greater, it would be a nice change from Comcast. It would also make use of all the fiber optic cable that was laid through our town many years ago by several companies.
Remember, it is not a crime unless you get caught!;-)
I could have real fun by logging in to all my neighbors routers and lock them out by setting up my own passwords because they never took the time to use either WEP or WPA or even change the default password for the router.
I am a nice guy so I just use the info from my sniffer to keep off the channels they are using so we all keep out of each others hair....so to speak.
I will state it again, if they can't figure out a short term model why do we think they can figure out a long term model which has many, many more variables.
Actually over the last 30 years the weather people have gotten to a pretty accurate 3 day forecast. Of course chaos theory kind of sinks it after that. When it comes to climate they run in to the same problem, chaos theory. Sure it should be cold in December next year but what about 25 thousand years from now.....they don't have a clue nor can they make an accurate guess. They are only now trying to figure out how our orbit changes over long periods of time, how our rotation angle changes and even our rotation and movement in the milky way. It would be like me trying to predict the roll of the dice only seeing two rolls of the dice and without know how many numbers are on them or even if the number of dice change.
That said it does make sense to keep the environment clean. How does the old saying go "You don't shit where you eat". One thing I don't see is someone that burns way more energy than I do with his houses, entourage of cars and jet flights around the U.S. thinks he is a bigger environmentalist than I am......you know who you are Al Gore! I don't consider myself an environmentalist but I am way greener than Gore has ever been.
Actually the sun is older than once thought. We were always told we had 4.5 billion years before the sun died. While that is probably true as the sun burns more fuel it will burn hotter and hotter. In a scant 1 million years the mean temp on earth could be around 160 degrees. I you look over the history of the earth it has been a big snowball, a big desert with 140 degree temps. No oxygen, so much oxygen that it made life that can't live in the oxygen levels we have had for the last 300 million years.
The earth will survive. We might not. Nearly all the creatures that have every lived have been wiped out long before we showed up for our very short stint, so far, as the top monkey.
If they are so good at predicting long term weather trends how come they can't get the weather next week correct?
You mean Steve Ballmer could be lying or not know what he is talking about! Say it ain't so!
They say one way to tell if a person is lying is that they sweat a lot. So just check Ballmers shirts for pit stains. Has he never been down the antiperspirant isle in the store?
I have a windows using friend who just tried to go down and put 500 dollars down as a deposit for the iPhone so he gets one when it comes in. They would not let him do it. It is a little pricey for me but then if I had the bucks I would get one.
Those people in Boston are a bunch of gay homosexuals.
They are the only city to have a problem with the Aqua Teen displays. I don't know how they would consider this an act of terrorism, I mean they have Ted Kennedy as a a senator and he has been more of a terrorist, at least to women and liquor stores than Aqua Teen has.
It is called a quick meal when I don't have time to cook a complete meal, most of which are vegetables only, sometimes a little beef or chicken. Fish if there is something good in, like Ahi.
I know several people who were about to get new phones.....and new phone service contracts before the Apple Keynote. They are holding off until the iPhone is released so they can get it instead. I am a Mac users and the phone made me drool. I can't afford one right now but if I could I would get one in a heartbeat. My two friends who went crazy after seeing the iPhone are Windows users and they are going to do anything to get one.
If Steve did not announce the iPhone I think he would have not had much to talk about during the keynote other than the AppleTV box. I think Apple is holding back on the iLife07 and iWork07 releases until 10.5 is closer to shipping. I am sure both program suites will make much use of all the new technologies in 10.5 and Steve did not want to spill the beans at Macworld. Since the iPhone is running OS X 10.5 it means that 10.5, iLife and iWork should be well worth the wait.
Don't know if you will get this or not first one but January of last year I made a prediction of 5 or less hurricanes for the 2006 season. You disagreed very strongly with my prediction and you had your own:
"Hurricanes are a thermally driven phenomenon. My 2006 prediction for the Atlantic basin is the formation of 30(+-5) cyclones. How do I know?? Daily observations, I'm located in South Florida, which is mostly surrounded by ocean. SF winter air temp is significantly moderated by surrounding water temp. SF air temps are averaging 7.5 to 10 degrees(F) above normal.. A significant delta(T) over last year(2005). As for the cause of GW. Atmospheric CO2 measurements don't lie. Historical ice core data confirms CO2 at unprecedented levels. CO2 is of organic nature(12C/13C isotope ratio) (mankind). The chemical/optical, IR trapping, characteristics of CO2 is well known. Solar energy input is well known. Apply Occam's Razor [vub.ac.be]."
Having Tom Cruise rant and rave against Psychiatry and drugs that help with mental conditions yet be believes that we are from the planet xeno is just one reason that should not speak.....period. It really reminds me of "Team America" where the celebrities "read the paper and then repeat it like it is our ideas". There are some celebs that are fairly knowledgeable about science but those are very few and very far between.
Listening to nearly all celebs talking about science is about the same as listening to politicians describe the internet.
I have been using CFL's for years. In fact I have been using the same CFL bulbs for years. 80 percent of my house lighting uses CFL bulbs. Most I got for free from PG&E and their free service for helping your house save energy and others I picked up on special for a very cheap price. Not one of those bulbs has gone out over the years.
The one place I would really like to use a CFL is on my front porch light but I have not found a bulb that will fit it. Until they come out with a CFL that will fit in the exact same space as a regular light bulb it will be hard to make people keep around several sets of bulbs.
Actually you missed my point. I said man is causing changes but we have no idea what we have changed and what nature itself, the earth, the sun, the orbit in the solar system our orbit in the Galaxy, may be causing. In fact we may have saved ourself from an iceage that would have killed millions. We just don't know.
Nearly all scientist agree that in 1 million years the mean temperature on earth will be around 160 degrees due to the sun burning more fuel. That means no matter what we do global warming is going to happen.
I still believe that we are effecting the environment, I just don't point fingers at people like Bush. I don't believe in clear cutting forests but renewable logging is just fine. Some environmentalist are so overboard on saying what people should do yet they don't follow their own advice. Even Julia Butterfly who lived in the tree went to the lumberyard to purchase wood products to build her little house in the trees. How many times have we seen protesters playing an acoustic guitar made of wood and telling us we don't need to chop down trees.
I think the biggest environmentalist joke is Al Gore. He burn so much fuel going around the country telling people to save energy and he has his entourage in tow. I am no environmentalist but Al Gore looks like a toxic waste dump compared to my impact on the environment.
First of all this is not the first inhabited island to disappear "forever" under the sea. Several others around the globe have done this 1000's of years ago. I am sure even more did so when the last ice age came to an end. "Land Bridge disappears forever". Second of all the word forever is something that can never be proven. A colder climate could cause this island to pop right out of the ocean again. Despite what some people would have you believe the earth has never "always been the same". Even in the short geological time of 5 million years the earth has had massive changes in climate. Changes that man could not have caused.
Is man causing changes now? You bet. Is all the warming because of man? No one can say that. If they do then they are lying. Man has been on this earth a very short time. We have been around maybe 5 million years, tops, and that is counting a lot of monkey time. The dinosaurs were around for 150 million years or more. Imagine the changes they must have seen. Life has survived and probably always will until the sun becomes to warm and makes life impossible. The best guess on that happening is another 1-20 million years. Much sooner than the 5 billion years we thought we had several decades ago.
People like to point fingers at other people on global warming but if you are posting on this board you can pretty much point the finger at yourself unless you are running a "green" computer on solar power, don't drive.....at all, don't live in a wood house, don't use plastics (opps so much for solar power) and many other things the people do to pollute.
I am sure Google will fall, all companies do. Another good example is Microsoft and Vista with a liitle Zune tossed in for good measure. You are correct that it is when and how.
I don't see it happening in the near future. Yahoo is taking it in the shorts right now because they cannot keep up with Google. I see them being healthy for at least the next 2 to 3 years. Google does have good effects beyond Google. My paid dotmac has had to improve to keep pace with the free Google. It will force other companies to compete with Google in making the customers happy and this is good for us on the net.
Google seems to be doing fine. They are hiring the right people and those people seem to be eager to work at google. If they do enough to keep those smart people, which they seem to be doing then I don't see a problem. Google is going all out to add Mac support for all of their products and now even have a Mac blog from the developers. Even if some employees do leave I see that being a plus for the internet. Google knows what people on the internet want and it gives them that. Programs like Google earth and searches like Froogle and Google maps are setting the standard for search companies. I think Yahoo wish they had the problem of being too smart for their own good.
Back in the early 70's myself and my friend had a contest to see who could come up with a clock radio. These were real Rube Goldberg devices and the more extra features they did the more points we got. Both of our designs pretty much took up the whole space underneath out respective beds. Since we lived in the same apartment complex it was easy to check out each others designs. He would come over to my parents house and check mine out and I would go to his parents house and check his out. Stealing ideas was just fine. We robbed our electronic parts boxes. Mine used a wind-up alarm clock that pulled a string to engage a old radio tuner to make connect with a battery, this in turn engaged other devices such as a motor with a weight on one side connected to the bed for a magic fingers effect. A large 15 inch speaker give you a nice thump to the bed frame in time with the music. Each bell on the alarm clock was wired to a buzzer wired to one bell and a light wired to the other bell. The striker was connect to a battery and when the alarm went off it would alternate between the light and the buzzer.
Of course they were accidents waiting to happen and I am surprised we never burnt our respective apartments down. But hey for 12 year olds back in 1973 it was great fun!

I wonder if Microsoft took into account all the copyrights they have infringed on when coming up with this anwser!
I would also think that Microsoft winning the Look and Feel lawsuit against Apple will shoot it in the foot when it comes to the FOSS bunch.
