    The reason mozilla didn't set the thing to execute, and treated it in every way like a normal file is because it didn't know better. It doesn't have anything checking if it's a executible. E-mail doesn't send permissions with the file. Simple. Mozilla probably just didn't know what it was.

    Of course, i could be wrong. I hope so.

    Most of the poeple here just seem to want a cheap media player. So why doesn't microsoft release one of those (if possible).

    And while I'm at it, they now own sega right? Why don't they make a dreamcast emulator or something.

    Maybe there just making there own job a little easier. What do you think would sell better:

    Software package #1: "Our new software is more stable and less buggy."

    Software package #2: "Our new software includes dynamic multimedia buttons, 7 internet-enabled skins, and a bezilion other cool soundig features that are not usefull (but do sound cool)."

    Ralsky, meanwhile, is looking at new technology. Recently he's been talking to two computer programmers in Romania who have developed what could be called stealth spam.

    It is intricate computer software, said Ralsky, that can detect computers that are online and then be programmed to flash them a pop-up ad, much like the kind that display whenever a particular Web site is opened.

    "This is even better," he said. "You don't have to be on a Web site at all. You can just have your computer on, connected to the Internet, reading e-mail or just idling and, bam, this program detects your presence and up pops the message on your screen, past firewalls, past anti-spam programs, past anything.


    Isn't this impossible? Maybe he means winpop-up :-)

    apple is a hardware company. It's just got a good OS also.

    Besides, shouldn't the program running part be in the kernel if you want it to run fast? (I'm not completely sure about that) If they put that in the kernel, why use the microsoft window manager? It would have too be much better.

    I don't think it would work.

    I was recently helping out a friend of mine, and I was amazed to find spyware in wich you actually had to fill in the oddly displayed numbers, so that anti spyware programs would not be able to remove it!
