So, you can download them to your computer, but you can't (legally) make a copy for your friend... This isn't the free as in "land of the free" that I grew up learning about... seems like a trap to me. "How did you know that without ever buying our book or downloading our PDF? You must be a sea faring rapist and murderous theif!"
More evidence for the theory that no good deed goes unpunished. The +5 informative is just sad.
Whooosh! Look at the contex, the GP implied the rules of war were a recent invention of "liberals". I was correcting his erroneous statement, I said nothing about the utility or otherwise of such rules, but since you bring it up I'm in violent agreement with you.
The whole terrorism thing isn't viable if people laugh at you - it will be hard to recruit people if the last lot died horribly and become a national joke.
I do 30-35 wpm on the same test my touch typist partner does ~100wpm, and she is the fastest typist I've seen. As I keep saying TT is a useful skill, but in 20yrs as a softwer developer two finger typing has never stopped me getting my job done just as fast as touch typing dev's. If I was a secratary you might have a point, but I'm not, so you don't.
Smoking is a bad example since there was a well organised campaign by the tabacoo industry to discredit both the science and the scientists. The campaign ultimately failed but it caused a lot of confusion and doubt in the public for many years. The same propoganda-tanks are now using their skills to discredit the science and scientists behind AGW. That campaign will also fail in due course, but right now it's still causing a lot of confusion and doubt, particularly in the US where these propoganda-tanks are clustered around K street.
What attitude? I don't think touch typing makes you efeminate, I'm just pointing out it's a skill that some old farts (such as myself) were prevented from learning in HS because of the silly sterotypes of the 60's and early 70's. Touch typing would be handy for writing emails and documentation, but it's a long way from being an essential skill of a developer.
When I was at HS boys were not allowed to take typing classes, those classes were aimed at future secrataries (and every one knew only girls grew up to be secrataries). I learnt to two-finger-two-thumb type in my early 30's while studying for my CS degree. I could probably go a lot faster than 30-35wpm if I learnt to touch type but it hasn't hindered my career over the last 20yrs and I'm now too old and grumpy to care what other people think about my typing/driving/walking speed.
Regardless of their field of expertise, no professional on Earth can be expected to know all the answers off the top of their head. However every professional should be expected to know how to find the answer in a timely manner. Debugging a human is much more difficult than debugging a PC, so for MD's in particular this often includes "reading manuals" or referring the patient to a specialist (ie: "asking experts").
I wouldn't exactly call them science books
They said "science books", not "popular science books".

Yes, and having eaten Britsh food I can understand why.
It might be more lethal if it contained an oxidizer.
You mean something like pottasium chlorate, the main ingredient in match heads?

Adam Hills on the Glassgow terror attack.
Indeed, but what has that got to do with my point?

I've always wondered if Principle Skinner was named after B.F Skinner (inventor of the operant conditioning chamber).
What you're looking at is an 8 to 10x speed up
I doubt it, I've never heard of anyone typing at ~300wpm.
And "project suppository" is even less appealing.
You do realise that the rules of war concerning the protection of civilians were established in the 1800's, right?

Calling me a kid is indicative of your pityfull ignorance.

Not sure what your definition of a "major boom" is, but PV production has been doubling every two years for the last decade.
Alternatively if it's fixed then that proves it was a hoax, just like Y2K, acid rain, and the ozone hole.
You realise David Wong links to Dunbar's research in his brilliant and witty essay, right?
It's not difficult to be in contact with hundreds of different people every day for months.
There's a huge difference between people inside your MonkeySphere and people inside your chat room.
I just got over my mid-life crisis and now I find out I've been dead for at least 200yrs.
I won't hire anyone who puts things like "certifications" on their resume
With arbitrary filtering rules such as that you have a bright future in HR.
Would it still be funny if some arsehole vandalised your basement?
