    Actually, according to www.familyguyfiles.com,
    Despite the huge fan base, the show's edgy content and brash humor (remember when The Simpsons used to be that way?) doesn't sit well with the advertisers. Of course, it doesn't help when a network moves a show every week to a new time slot. How was anyone expected to watch it?
    So, apparently the "dismal ratings" were Fox's own damn fault.

    Why is it that the good shows never last? For example, Family Guy was hilarious, but Fox cancelled it because advertisers were reluctant to run ads on such an edgy show. Now they are taking down Futurama, which is consistently funnier than this newest season of The Simpsons. And shows like King of the Hill, of which only the first season was funny to me, is still going strong. And don't get me started on that prime-time soap opera known as Friends.

    Also, we all know that a state of anarchy could never survive. Within months, maybe weeks, somebody would be in a position somewhat like ruler of the people. An anarchy can provide no defense against this, other than a militia, which would eventually impose martial law- power corrupts. In short, anarchy begets despotism.

    And after you've gotten those connectors clean, make sure you use Stabilant 22 on them to make sure they stay that way. WD-40 might work, too, but I've never tried it. If you do use WD-40, spray it on a new cotton swab, and use that to apply it to the connector. Make sure you clean and oil the contacts on the console, too.

    The Happy Hacking Keyboard is good if your desk is starved for space, but I prefer one with arrow keys and a number pad. So I use the Linux 101 from PCKeyboard.com. This keyboard basically just rearranges the CTRL, ALT, and Caps Lock keys- layout 1 basically rotates them clockwise, while layout 2 switches the CTRL and Caps Lock keys.

    I personally feel that the only way to steal someone's artistic or intellectual creations is to plaigarize it. Thus, IMO, there is no such thing as creative or intellectual property. You can sell it to sustain yourself, but it still does not "belong" to you. (Think of OSS.)

    Then again, it has been a long time since RIAA members sold something creative...

    I apologize. I didn't bother to check Apple's hardware specs. But does this mean I can use hardware meant for the PC in a Mac? (Expected awnser == No)

    I would have switched to Apple computers running GNU/Linux long ago had they decided to allow third party manufacturers to produce their hardware. I HATE pretty much anything proprietary, be it software, hardware, or recipies. If Apple opened up their hardware, then IMO, there should be a huge jump in their market share because of people like me buying their computers to avoid Palladium or for the reasons you stated (or just for the hell of it :)).

    Precicely. But obviously, Farifax County Public Schools does. They use Symantec's IGear content filtering software to "protect" students from such "inaproppriate" sites as Politics1's Radical section, which contains links to such homepages as the KKK and the American Nazi Party, and the Revolution, a very left-wing political party whose site contains "obscene language". This is acceptable for elementry school kids, but high school students are being denied access to this stuff. That, my friends, is censorship.

    I agree with most of your post, but I'm going out on a limb here to reccomend that we do abandon the WIMP (Windows, Icons, Mouse and Pointer) interface and find another GUI that is better. (Why?) I don't have any ideas, but somebody out there does.

    It's a well known fact that when Wal Mart moves into a town, many small businesses are forced to hang 'em up, because they cannot compete with Wal Mart's prices. Thus, the relevence of this story. Wal Mart may force NetFlix out of buisiness. And given Wal Mart's poor track record for service, I don't think this will be "good for the consumer".
