New Heinlein Novel

All politicians should have to have given their lives in combat first! Hey, if Heinlein can come back, what's to stop the Illuminati from ressurecting dead combat veterans to run for office?
you actually misread what the guy said. he was trying to ascertain whether "you" (the slashdot crowd) thought folks that *didn't* use red-eye reduction should be fired. try reading it again.
I haven't read the article, but I'd guess the person writing it got confused with "light normally doesn't converge through a flat lens", or something like that.
Uhhhh. TSR has been out of business for years. It's been Wizards of the Coast since then, and (imo) they've actually done a reasonably good job of putting life back in the system.
looks like they forgot their carbon rod.
or...
gee, another repost from CowboyNeal!
or...
when's/. going to stop posting OLD news?! didn't this happen, like, 17 years ago??:sigh:
I agree with MS on this one. government employees shouldn't be allowed to hold their positions for longer than a year. DOWN WITH GOVERNMENTAL CORRUPTION!...:)
I have to say, I think the israeli chemical garden (as scary as that title may be) is by FAR the best thought out of the bunch. Most of them are "gee, let's see if this creature turns out or acts any different, just because, well, they might". The chemical garden is nifty in that it actually gives scientific explanations as to what might change, and why -- multiple hypotheses, even.

tek* is actually a series of books. gotta love william shatner.:cough:
however, I'd have to say that people dying from computer viruses is likely *not* the stupidest thing you've heard. admittedly, the technology of the books was difficult to accept -- if I remember right, they were basically goggles that "programmed" you optically. but say we jump the optical thing and plug straight into the neurons. computer viruses frying the hardware (wetware) in such a situation is a common thread.
yeah, I love the drug thing -- supply and demand. The more we bust, the more it costs street value. They're just bragging at what they've brought street value up to (or quality down to, depending...)
lane sharing is perfectly legal in california, and generally encouraged given long-standing traffic congestion. (at least, encouraged on the biker's part, not on the car's part). What's really nice is when you can get behind a police biker, because cars really make room for them.:)
I got a call from pacbell a few weeks ago saying they were just getting dsl in my area. I told them I already had 768 sync from speakeasy and they said "oh, never mind," and hung up.
I've got no complaints with se.:)

of course, there's the possibility that the /. effect may actually subside more quickly (from the point of view of us non-paying plebes)
well if that's the case, when is Micro$oft going to enter into the market?

Agreed. I was simply segueing off of your commentary. I said a lot more (in this post) and decided I was being stupid. la la la. :)

I've always felt that 2+2=6 for sufficiently large values of 2. or even better, 1+1=4 for sufficiently large values of 1. Hmm.
that's funny -- I got my christmas bonus six months early! :/
