People need to get real! If Nokia had entered what is gearing up to be a very aggressive market with a linux based netbook, I would have expect the BOD to fire the CEO right away!

Asus tried it already and it failed. People who buy a netbook want it to work just like their laptop. They want to share the same documents and have the same user interface.

The fact is, this Nokia netbook looks great. It's got loads of stuff on it and is slick as snot. If it's not too expensive, I will be buying one myself and no..I wont be installing Linux.

What are you talking about? Seriously..what person in the entire world does not know they are using windows? Are you kidding? When my folks visit me, they sure as shit know nothing about computers, but they know for sure my computer is NOT windows. They even know one of their laptops is vista and one is XP.
This is common knowledge by nearly every person alive by now.

I hate to tell you this, but most people are not choosing their laptop's OS based on color either. Case in point, the gal upstairs got a little netbook reinstalled with Linux and after about a week asked our IT guy to install windows because she could run any programs she wanted. I can assure you that this girl is not technical, but somehow..I am not sure how this could actually happen..she knew the difference between windows and linux and magically knew she could only do something things on windows. Weird.

Seriously, why does linux have so many release cycles. That's one thing I didnt like about Ubuntu. It took me forever to get it running just the way I wanted and by then a new version was out and I had the pressure to upgrade..and of course..I had to set up everything again since invariably, it broke something.
It's funny how many people here bitched that windows was coming out with Win 7 so soon after vista, but they don't mind that linux seems to release something every couple months depending on the distro. Odd.

I had Ubuntu(gusty) on a partition for a long time. For about 3 months for so I used it as my primary partition. I liked the look and feel for the most part.
I even enjoyed learning the command line stuff to get my screen rez correct..it took a long while to set that damn thing to 1366x766! But, once I figured it out, that was that.
In the end, I went back to Windows and that is where I will stay and here's why...
    Bluetooth!
At that time, my wife lived overseas and we used skype to talk. None of my Bluetooth dongles would work in the slightest with Linux. I tried and tried and tried, but could not make it work..and hell.. at that time my job was maintaining and creating bluetooth RF test cases!!!!
I was so sick of having to boot to windows every time i needed to "do" something I said forgot it..im sticking with windows.

It seems that that there are some, like me who only want the phone broken to we can use alternate carriers and install non-apple approved apps. Conversely, there is a huge number of people who only want to get apps for free. This is whole problem. Jailbreaking indirectly allows you to steal software.
The ones who say they just want to try before they buy of full of crap. Yes, I just wanted to try this torrent filled with 800 cracked apps before I buy them all. Give me a break. 25. WiMAX Consortium.... on Doubts Over Intel's WiMAX Service Pricing Claim · · Score: 1

The problem with WiMAX IMO is nothing really to do with the technology on a technical level, as it actually uses the same modulation scheme as LTE, but rather with the WiMAX Consortium. The WiMAX Consortium has set things up so that only a couple large companies make the money. This goes all the way down to the device testing side. Here, you have AT4 wireless in Spain whom the manufactures like R&S must GIVE equipment to "validate". We are talking more than 1 million for a WiMAX RF test system. Lots of cash. Then you have WiMAX Consortium price fixing on how much a test house can charge for something, as well as the equipment costs. Also, if you want to get into that business you need to pay the WiMAX Consortium 1 million buck....you heard me right...1 million buck for the rights to do it. Then the test spec it self. They cant figure it out. They decided that the GSM guys where just too stupid and WiMAX better start from nothing...that's not working out too well for them. So, to make a long post longer..WiMAX will fail, but it wont be the fault of the tech, which is actually really good, it will be the fault of the money machine WiMAX Consortium whom is interested in a money and power grab, rather the open membership.
