Shouldn't this story be in the "Your Rights Online" page? Considering that clicking on Pallidum's EULA will be just like signing your soul over to the devil....I'll take an open source solution thank you very much.
Isn't there someone out there that can hack this prevention technology? It would be nice to make a chip to solder onto the printers mainboard to send a "full" signal regardless of the condition of the ink cartridge.
Then again...would it be possible to do a hack via the means of software?
horribly worded.....10.2.3's problems are due to the use of 3rd party drivers and programs. Sorry for any trouble I might have caused in the reading of the parent post...
You have to run OS X 10.2.4 to get this patch. Does this mean that 10.2.3 is secure from this bug, or do I need to hook up to my mom's school's T1 line to be up to date? 10.2.3 has been running very, very smoothly with little or no problems (mainly due to 3rd party programs/drivers).
Funny thing about the PPC 970 is that it can handle 32-bit as well as 64-bit instructions. Panther would probably just add 64-bit support, rather than become a total 64-bit OS.
My brother has my old Bondi iMac 233mhz running the 10.2.4, and its still running great. Not to mention that he put in some extra memory, but then again, all computers could use extra memory.
I wonder if they are slimming down their product line in anticipation of the PPC 970 line that is *cough, September* soon to come.
I don't think this should be called as an RIP of the iMac, since the name still lives on, albiet its a totally different form factor.
where a lab creates the perfect humans...yet after a reaction with a common flu (i think?), their antibodies cause all sorts of havoc, mainly causing the labs staff to age very rapidly...
Unless the FDA approves this anytime soon though, I'm not too worried about it.
IBM should have their Power970's out at least a month ahead...I don't remember where, but I heard they were going to release it in the 3rd Quarter of this year, presumably along with Apple's new release of a new (G5?) Power Macintosh, or XServe (just a rumor, don't flame me), although it may not go into full production until the end of the year. What about the Itanium 2? I haven't heard anything about that. Unless its not for desktops and only for servers. If that is the case, what is Intel coming out with to join the 64-bit desktop wars?
This is probably the biggest thing keeping me away from buying one of these in the future. I have been hearing that the L2 cache helps out in alot of situations. And some of you are complaining about heat? I can't put my iBook SE on my lap for more than 30 minutes:P
Whats to prevent these spammers from spamming you still? Couldn't they bounce the email off a couple proxies and cover up the real email address it was sent from?
In the past three years, Kraft Foods Inc., the Coca Cola Company, Nestle and the Campbell Soup Co., which also owns such brands as Pepperidge Farm and Swanson, have signed major research deals with Senomyx Inc., one of the biggest biotech players in the rush to decode the genetics of taste.
Great, now I can drink my smooth latte flavor coca-cola and eat my smooth latte flavor tomato soup while eating some latte flavor cheese and sausage. Later tonite I will eat a latte flavored Swanson dinner!
I would really like to see some sort of adapter that lets me play on the internet against someone halfway across the nation. I don't want to have to buy a phone to do this.
Sure, the StorCard and the floppy have the same medium (Mylar disk), but StorCard's is apparently formatted different. Also note the 3600 rpm of the StorCard, while a floppy has what, 600 or 700 rpm? This thing is faster, stores more, and is dirt cheap for what you get.

Due to funding, the light at the end of the tunnel has been turned off.

1. The OS will make a purring sound as you navigate the finder.
2. It will ask you what a 64-bit number is before letting you run 64-bit applications.
3. Panther will spout off crazy Apple rumors that turn out to be true.
4. If two Macs, one running Jaguar, and one with Panther, sit side by side, growling may be heard
5. Internet explorer will no longer be pre-installed on the machine, replaced by and Safari.

The distances they'd have to travel are enormous
Who says that the aliens haven't been sending out radio waves for hundred or even thousands of years?

One giant leap for Linux.
Lets give his site hell! Bring it down my fellow /.'ers!

Wasn't prohibition over like, years ago?
But since "best of" lists like this one are always rife with debate and contention
I love conversations RIFE with debate and contention!

Hrm, if they can make my coffee taste like a smooth latte, could they make it taste like an octo-espresso?

It has been known that the government has hired convicts to help the govt capture others in that convits field of expertise.
Has the government tried to hire you to catch other hackers?
AOL won't suck anymore? Nah...
Damn, this guys site got /.'d really quick...is there a current record for a site being slashdotted after an article comes out?
