    Well, the current prez doesn't need to look like a pussy in front of the rest of the world either. In that article, the push was for updating making replacement warheads and the like, with no new capabilities other than to replace again cold war stock. The Russians and Chinese are keeping their nukes up to date....why should we not do the same?

    I'm surprised I pretty much hit the bottom of the page before I saw the iPod Touch mentioned. While a lot of people here just don't like anything Apple, it does seem to be a good choice for what this librarian wants. Heck, there might be some good free apps she could download and use too for the library?

    Why is the lose/loose spelling issue so bad here lately? I understand having 'fumble fingers' here and there, but, this one seems to be epidemic over the past 2-4 years.

    But science isn't exactly conclusive in everything either. Like the big bang theory...what was there before the big bang? I hear no answers to that that sound any more plausible than God being there and starting things out....maybe he was the big bang, etc? Until science can rule out God, or can come to conclusive answers...why should all possibilities not be considered?

    The copyright freedom laws...and private banking laws...all going down the tube. I guess those 'stand out' systems can survive in the consolidation towards one world rule and law.

    I guess you missed the part where I mentioned I buy the beer and all after then help me...or we just switch vehicles for a day or so....they get to have some sports car fun while I move/haul stuff.

    First...I think the guy should be allowed to speak, and it appears he will.

    However, I'm not so sure about your take on the 1st Amendment. It is for freedom of religion, not freedom from religion. It is just that there cannot be a national religion that is forced upon the populace. At least that's what the framers we going for I believe.

    I think mention or discussion of religion in general, or even pure scholarly looks at certain religions is wrong in a public institution...like how medieval monks in the churches kept written historical records, etc. I know the trend has been lately to do as you say...take all things public to their lowest denominator (no God)...but, I don't think that was how it was supposed to be translated. I think it really was going for not forcing a religion no anyone...but, not that any religion could never be spoken about. The mere presence of a mention or investigation into religion is not forcing anything upon anyone else..it isn't like you won't pass a course if you don't convert.

    And if you're studying mankind...well, the mere fact that so darned many people out there believe in some form of God(s)....makes it worth while to consider that fact, rather than ban the though or discussion in any publicly funded venue.

    Seriously...that is a PITA...I never knew that states that had those checks forced you to pay extra for them??

    I've never lived in a state that had emissions inspections, and even lived in states with NO inspections at all for anything. Sure makes life easier.

    Thankfully...I can do anything I want with my exhaust systems on my cars or bikes...for performance.

    Ahh...grasshopper, you perceive wrongly. I either meet people out...or if more than myself and one person is going around together...they pick me up. It is great since that way, I don't drink and drive nearly as often as if I had a big car and had to cart others around.

    I've just grown up owning 2 seat sports cars....280Z, MR2 turbo, C5 Vette, 911 Turbo (RIP Katrina), and now a fun little turbocharged MX-5. Ok, technically, the 911 Turbo had 4 seats...but, you couldn't really fit more and groceries back there...so, I don't count them as official seats.

    But, no..I've never seen any reason I need a LARGE vehicle...I'm in for sporty looks and performance. The only problem I have, is in when I need to cart something around that is big...like furniture...etc. That's what friends with trucks/suv's are for. Either they help me out and I buy the beer, or we just switch keys for awhile.....

Why on earth are we trying to build electric cars that make no sense instead of using cheap, proven turbo-diesel technologies? Why can't I buy a car that will ride 7 and get 40+ to the gallon in the US? I'm baffled..."

    I'm waiting for the 2 seater peformance version to come out. Well...I guess maybe I'm just waiting for the Tesla to come down to Vette pricing...

    Seats 7, eh? Interesting...I've never had a car that would seat more than 2 people. I'd not know what to do with all that room.

    Well, it was. This is an old school method...currently being replaced by just scanning the internet in general, target searching on Facebook and the like.

    As much as the old music industry is hurting with online distribution, so will services like this due to this kind of information being out there for free.

    I hear ya...and also, with EVERYTHING being tied to one company...one set of servers, when Google has an outtage, that means our government comes to a grinding halt?!?!

    There are valid reasons for a heterogeneous computer system, spread out, with different servers and OS's...so that one event doesn't bring everything down to a complete standstill. Haven't we all learned that single point of failure is a dangerous thing?

    I've been watching some news specials on Mendencino...and it is quite interesting. Pot is supposedly all of CA's #1 cash crop. The stuff being sold now legall (state laws) is for 'medicinal' purposes. What I'm hearing is...they want to expand that...to make it just plain legal (state law), and that would broaden even more the sales of legal pot....and give the state more tax revenue.

    CA already gets a pretty good cut now off the medicinal stuff....I hear they want to completely de-criminalize it...and bring in even more tax revenue.

    I don't get your argument. 'Impairment' tests for alcohol are a pretty new thing relatively speaking. There were none when prohibition was repealed. Why would such a test make a difference with legalizing marijuana?

    I think I've actually heard in CA, they are considering full blown (no pun intended) legalization to bring in tax revenue in this economic tough period.

    Wow...renters have it much easier up there.

    In New Orleans...you get like 30 days notice to get out....if your not out, the cops come and throw your shit out onto the street in front of the house. Plain and simple.
