The entire company has a business model change: From eating Venture Capital to actually getting paid something for a product.
One would think their 'business model' was supposed to be something about making money at some point in the first place. That is how you get intelligent people's venture capital $$. Guess this is a company with no real business plan, and the people investing money in them have started to figure that out.
Quick....throw in more buzzwords! They could be the first Javascript Artificial Intelligence Blockchain Synergy corporation.
Why would we bother posting something about a webserver vulnerability? The submission lacks anything useful to take action on or inform; you know like what the actual threat vector is. For all I knew we could just walk through security with a barcode on our tshirts and shut down cameras.
What is that you say? The threat vector is in a completely abandoned but always online webserver? You don't say! Who would have known!
Whats that? You say total system takeover and privilege escalation? The ability to run commands? Oh MY!
Next time how about we: 1) identify the actual threat, not some 20 year old journalist's stupid sensationalist bullshit 2) Perhaps identify if this pre-boxed crapware product is using something like an unpatched BSD or Linux inside 3) Note that reputable vendors have had patches out for years because they're not bad 4) Leave out the part about all the amazing things one can do with commandline access and programming skills; slashdot croud should already know how computers work.
I'll stick up for System76 on this one. You say Gazelle, which is only slightly beefier than the ultra portable Galago. You can't complain about 'flimsy cheap and light' on what is essentially a low end laptop with crappy CPU run integrated video. I've had their other laptops and they are fantastic build quality.
You then complain about getting a gaming laptop and doing it all yourself - here is an idea - don't compare a 1700 gaming laptop to an ultra portable. Even the Oryx isn't the mightiest gaming laptop; but I use it as one and honestly was very competitively priced against other manufacturers.
I pretty much only read slashdot on it now. Even that is questionable....how does the S2 android app read the news feed? I am only assuming it uses RSS.
Not only did I port my number over from V$$, but I activated it myself....for nothing...in about 10 minutes online. Since switching to Ting, I save at least $70 a month, and I have no hassles.
Well, if you had previously been riding the amazing wave of stupidity that increased snapchat's earnings but were happy to enjoy the rise in your investments....well now would probably be a good time to pull out and sell. Worthless crap probably isn't going to keep going up, especially with this guy putting in 100% of his effort.
7 year max lifespan, times 365 days a year, is 2555 days of maximum lifespan.
So for 4400 satellites, how exactly are they going to maintain a launch rate capable of sustaining this? This would inevitably require maintenance launches 2 or 3 times per week.
Dude, a guy from motherboard named website that finds screwing in (actually very reasonably sized) motherboard screws into a case is too hard? Where do they find these worthless lib-arts degree losers to write articles for them?
So Netflix has equipment inside the Comcast network and works fine, but as of a few weeks ago my connection is completely useless for regular non-text based use. I don't come anywhere near even the 300Gig transfer. What is up with that? I've complained but nothing happens. I can't stream Linux Action show from Jupiter Broadcasting. I can't stream twitch.tv (I find geek and sundry, kerbals, and others as excellent background noise similar to talk radio...but not enraging like talk radio) I can't even stream youtube reliably.
This is tested across three different linux machines, two windows machines, two phones, and various other devices attached to TVs.
I get better bandwidth with 1 bar of 4g on my phone than I do with the land line that I pay stupid amounts of money for.
That someday the world governments will fall just like in the science fiction future novels. One day the world will be ruled by corporations. Those corporations will then have to have large armies to protect themselves from the masses they control. Things like this is why.
I just canceled my subscription. Had it since 2006. When I called to complain that my Wii, my Roku, and my computers were having trouble...in addition to them not having a Linux client...they told me to contact my ISP so that they could 'speed it up'. I have a commercial line...and every other streaming service in full HD works just fine. They refused to open up a ticket to have it looked into, so I cancelled.
I would have given anything to accomplish this feat with Nissan last year. I figured out what car my wife and I could settle on (2 year process), and then tried to get one. Alas the last of the 2011's were already sold. So then I waited a few months and tried to get a 2012 vehicle. Alas those were delayed due to the flooding that also hit the nuclear plant and made much news. When I finally got a dealer to ship me one from 1200 miles away, I still didn't get all the exact options that I wanted. Most noticeable is that my wife complains about the lighter interior upholstery.
Why should I have to spend months trying to order something that should be so simple as: Middle of the road trim level, brown, with dark upholstery. Honestly I don't understand why I couldn't get those three things together in one vehicle after searching 15 some states.
I had driven several of the vehicles and knew we liked it...just couldn't get it without fancy doodads that we didn't want. I bet straight internet orders wouldn't get jacked up by the dealerships quite as bad.
Perhaps they are using a new program/script that does all their Lawyering for them. It must have 'accidentally' gotten the extra VLC link, assuming it was their content. No moderately versed PERSON would make this mistake, so it must be a machine. Therefore, we have a new threat in the wild: A never sleeping, never eating, intellectual property attorney that has no common sense or morals.
Oh wait....that isn't really all that new. Maybe the electricity part is new?
I agree completely. I believe this is proof of evolution in the rocketry business. This is an extra level of failsafe designed into the system, allowing work to still be accomplished.
Had this been any previous launch vehicle, it would have had to abort and splash down in the ocean somewhere because it wouldn't be able to compensate and continue on.

RIP fine Sir. Blessings to the family and friends.

AMD, to be fair, has pretty much done this just now with the Ryzen chips.
I don't mind the slashvertisement at all, I do mind not being able to get a 4k in a 17 inch size.

So, Steam? SteamOS must have the right idea, a platform that delivers content regardless of the physical platform.

Calling somebody an idiot, 3 words away from using the wrong here/hear. Way to up your own credibility compared to the idiot.
Not Verizon.
Actually they did reach an agreement with the provider a couple months ago. That is actually when it got worse, not better.

I give zero @#'s about their problems.
Major Metropolis!

Learn something new every day I guess.

That is not a Twain quote...it is a Biblical quote...of which Twain knew many.
