I think the novell buying suse deal, made them switch from a corporate to a non-corporate strategy. After all they could have gone for Mandriva, if they were to choose for a european solution.
Funny you should mention this, I just installed KDE on my PPC 8600 and it took me about 10 minutes to figure out how to remove a floppy. There's no eject button on the floppy drive and with only one mouse button it's quite hard to 'click right' and choose 'eject'.
Spaniards, unlike the Americans, it seems, don't like being lied to by their government.
Saddam didn't cause 9/11, the CIA did, by training taliban and leaving a political vacuum in Afghanistan.
The Spanish people had nothing to do with the war for oil. It's a war played by governments. And it's these governments that will pay for their mistakes.
source for everything (although they'll, most likely, never look at it).
I as an uber-geek don't wan't open source, so I can look at it. I want it because it the only way to make sure it stays for free (as in beer).
I used this program called MySQL-Front: it was free. Then came version 3.0 and I had to pay for it!
Now I'm stuck with version 2.5, no bugfixes and no new features.
If I 'd chosen to use MySQL Control Center(GPL) this would never have happened.
Same goes for all Freeware: If there's an open source alternative, why not use it?
How about "based on NT technology", when booting windows 2000. It's not even a good reference, NT4 was the worst OS ever, made by microsoft. Even DOS didn't have ONE remote hole in 20+ years! It's like NASA saying: Based on V2 technology.
I work for the european commission and live in Brussels.
Brussels is located in Belgium Most spoken language in Belgium is dutch.
Belgium has 3 districts: Walony, Flanders and Brussels. Waloons speak french Flemmings speak dutch In Brussels we speak both, but mostly french.
We are talking about the european commission, this means europe. Everything I do must be in ALL EUROPEAN LANGUAGES. Spanish, portugese, italian, dutch, french, english,...
So the letter should be in all european languages.
I've been following the Eolas lawsuit for a long time now, and this is bad folks.
They basically have a patent on any embedded technology in a browser. A lot of people have looked into this, and so far have come up with nothing. The earliest "application" in a browser technology I'm aware of is Vosaic, but I can't get ahold of anything that shows what date that was originally set up.
This screws Flash, Java applets, and all kinds of other things. Watch for more lawsuits in the future.
If you come from zero, it's not hard to gain ground.
No, but seriously, I see indians as a great helper for the linux community, people there don't have al lot of money to pay those expensive microsoft licences and I'm sure some great code will come from that country. I know they work hard and are very motivated.
Very funny Rex.

Is mac for dumbasses with too much money?
> Without virtual desktops GIMP can be... dificult
You could download some plugins to make it look more like 'normal' windows programs.

There's 2 things missing in the windows version:
- Windows open/save dialog (blah gtk)
- 1 window for all windows (alt-tab, task-bar)
I heard in Gimp 3 it will be included by default.

Bush is just the next in line.
Had no choice, try finding a portable without Windows!

Altough not always supported, IE is available on Windows, Mac OS 9, OS X, Sun Solaris, HP-UX, and Linux (crossover).
There is a petition for Internet Explorer on FreeBSD.
You could make your password generator in javascript.
This way people could look in the source code and no logs are possible.
Red Hat Linux to be precise. You can apply as an admin if you want...

I've used my Cellphone as a webcam as a proof of concept and it worked fine.
I was even able to walk across the room with bluetooth.

10 years from now it won't be as funny.
I read somewhere they will continue untill 4.12:
4.9, 4.10, 4.11 and 4.12 = VERY STABLE
The 5.X branch should become 'just' STABLE by then.

Personaly I am for the 'must carry' solution:
MS must ship it's distribution with a product from a competitor.
Firebird, Gaim, Real Player,
If you read the article, you must have seen possible solutions are a windows without MS media player or a 'must-carry': a non-microsoft media player.
I Think this should apply to all products that com with a distribution. Browsers, media players, java, IM, archivers,...
Only this way the competition gets a fair choice from the customer.
