What if their unhealthy lifestyle was a result of their genetic code? I agree with you, but you'll have to deal with those that claim their weight is genetic in origin ( which it may be for a small percentage of the population, but nothing to explain the explosion of obesity in the US. )
I have the perfect project: A smart knife. Think about it Knives are deadly, deadly weapons. People get stabbed every day. Even innocent people stab themselves all while trying to prepare the simplest of dishes. The solution is simple: Build a knife that knows its target. With an active memory metal that blunts itself to the sharpness of a baseball bat if its positioned at anything other than its target. Furthermore it will dynamically alter its blade to ensure the optimal cut of the material, taking into consideration all of the grain, moisture, temperature, and density of the object. It also has zibgee wireless mesh networking built in to communicate with other intelligent kitchen objects. The cutting board will communicate with the knife to let it know how close it is to the board. It will speak with the oven to let it know the specific moisture and condition of the meat to allow the oven to set the temperature and time of cooking to an optimal level. It will also prob for bacterial, viral of prion content communicating with any compatible devices to warn the user of the danger.
The smart knife. Cutting edge AI at its finest.

I didn't mean to imply that it was easier ( once you have learned the language) to understand English than to do simple math. I meant that its easier to do simple math than it is to learn English. Having grown up Dealing with Fahrenheit with US whether and Celsius in Science classes, I've got a bit of dual intuition into temps that doesn't require math. Its not precise, but close enough to prevent severe injury or discomfort.
It just sucks. All of it. You're correct, its not atypical for one side to purposefully misinterpret their opponents for political gain. Call me a dreamer, but I don't think anyone should do that, and the frequency and nonchalance with witch its done does not make it "Ok", "acceptable", or anything other than "Bad".
Ok, You're technically correct. You should also notice that the article is in English only. NASA doesn't translate any of its press releases into any other language either. I would think that might be a bigger barrier to comprehension than taking the temps subtracting 32 and multiplying by 5/9. Is algebra really that much more difficult than learning a second language (admittedly, My own skills are more mathematical than linguistic)? And yes I know Canada also contributed, but I would think they would have to also translate it into French for the Quebecois, if they were trying to cater to their populace. It think its probably good that an arm of our government is *not* trying to influence foreign populations/governments.
Abso-freaking-lutely. Has anyone checked Rush's pulse lately? How sure are we that he didn't die of heart disease and was replaced by an automatronic Eliza bot?

Well, as soon as a country from a part of that world, then you'll get your pronouncements to the public in metric. You have to remember that NASA is publicly funded. They need the public engaged in their discoveries, in order to maintain their funding. So, it only makes sense that they report their public findings to the media in units that average ( and the not so average members of congress) understand. I'm sure there are those a NASA that thinks they should be trying to convince the American public to use Metric, but technically that's NIST's job
Your right, it could have been worse. I think I remeber hearing the suckiness of Dos/early windows is what inspired Linus to start linux in the first place. Would that have happened in an alternative universe where operating systems on the dominant pc architecture didn't suck? We might have something better than vista, but it wouldn't be foss, and their wouldn't be a foss alternative.

Even better, just run as much stuff on dc as possible. There are dc Florescent, and led lights you can buy. Its sort of ridiculous creating dc power with the panels, converting it to ac, only to have your light bulb switch it back to dc. Some inverters also have a dc out for this purpose. They also have dc refrigerators and other small appliances as well. I'd give the questioner more advice, but I did my conversion project in a third world country where the electrical code was non existent. So we just did the best we could, following the relevant us codes we knew about.
Political speak. Cris Dodd is the sponsor of the entire bill. That doesn't mean that he introduced the provision that we are talking about. Nor does it mean he necessarily supports it. Anyone can add amendments to bills. And often opponents will try and add poison pill amendments to bills to kill them. It truly is a messed up system we have.
You still don't want them to be spinning cards on your site. Often scammers will find a site with low security to try credit card numbers to see if they are valid. They don't want the $1.00 plastic bride and groom statue. They'll ship it to to Wrigley field to get around shipping addresses. They just want to know if the card account is still open, but mom & pop still get hit with the ~ $30 charge back.
Well, if you are using geo-Ip to prevent usage from countries of high fraud rates, then it can make a lot of sense. No reason for mom & pop to accept wedding cake orders from mongolia.
Sorry, I have no mod points to offer you at this time, please accept this following post's attempt to draw more attention to your funny/informative post as a substitute.
Well, yeah thats what I meant. It would come as a surprise to me to learn that even the building blocks of life came here, rather than being home grown. And thats what this seems new evidence seems to support.
If i ever say, write or use any form of communication to use similar language like you used in your last sentence, please for the love of God kill me.
I always thought of the idea of life arriving on the planet, rather unlikely. It seems counter intuitive. But, I suppose, with quantum mechanics, general relativity, and the whole earth is not flat thing, then I guess given enough evidence anything could be true, regardless of its ridiculousness.
Good Point. Its nice to see a bank, and its former employees take security seriously and understand all of the potential risks.
Excuse me, now there is some business to which I must attend.

pretty ironic, when you think about it. A site as incredibly useful as Wikipedia scales nicely, Twitter not so much. I like that kind of irony.
Wire hangers?!? No joke? I guess most slashdotters don't have girl friends. Or at least not the type that would make a joke about wire hangers.
I mean its the UK. Shouldn't the snails all have mini crowns?
reread my post. pay special attention to qualifying statements.

Celsius used in science. News at 11. Also, a special report on the water falling problem: Is the sky leaking or is God crying?
