I've actually been talking to a lot of musician friend's of mine about Open Source Music.. (OSM). One guitar riff could end up having 100 different versions. I would love a great open source audio program that facilitated this exchange of music tracks. This would be a great way for unknown musicians to connect to a much larger musician base than normal also.
Security is a process, not a product. A hardware firewall is useless if it's firmware can't be updated and a vulnerability is found. But software, in the right hands, due to it being more configurable, is generally safer.
I'll donate more than one dollar when they fix the bug that doesn't allow IMAP accounts to auto-purge junk mail after so many days.. Anyone else have this problem? Or maybe I'll donate and then ask them about this?

Given the fact that cocaine and meth amphetamine are Schedule II narcotics (able to be prescibed by a physician), and marijuana, a Schedule I narcotic ("no medicinal value and high potential for abuse"), which has been proven scientifically to be beneficial in many health cases where conventional medicines have failed, (See the Institute of Medicine study from 1999 for starters, it helps with wide angle glaucoma, anorexia, AIDS wasting syndrome, nausea from chemotherapy, migraines, chronic pain, etc.), what are your plans for the rescheduling of medical marijuana, also known as cannabis, from Schedule I to Schedule II so that severly ill patients may use the medicine which benefits them most, without fear of having their door kicked down by DEA agents, and their property seized by the federal government in a civil forfeiture?
How long until this practice is imported into the U.S.? Couldn't the Slashdot crowd make a dent by boycotting all companies involved in this bullshit and spreading the word to others to do the same? We need some good anti-marketing going.
Has anyone here heard of HemiSync? Where you play 2 different frequencies (i.e., 400 hz, and 404 hz) in each ear, and the brain supposedly synchronizes to the difference (4 hz, in this case)?
I'd like to see this combined with the OpenEEG project, so you feed multiple people's brain waves into a central server, average the input, and then output HemiSync tones to each person to make their brainwaves entrain to the difference. Sort of like technological telepathy.
I'm not sure if this would work or not, but it'd be interesting to try..
