No its not exclusive, infact they have stated just the opposit, that they hope to be getting it onto any system that can support it (which leads people to beleive a PS3 and Mac version is comming)
no it wont be cause in this case DMCA does apply as music files are explicitly what the DMCA is suposed to protect.
In this case Real will lose because nothing legaly says you HAVE to let other services use your product if you dont want them to. And the enduser can add their own MP3s to the device if they wanted to.
IF anyone knows about reverse-engineering and the legality of it, its Apple. After all had Apple had better lawyers in the past Microsoft wouldnt exist as it is today.
Any doom and gloom prediction here didnt read the article and just latched on to the reduction.
Basically what the article said was while Nintendo reduced its costs, its still in the black and more importantly it said unlike Sony and Microsoft actually making money and not operating in the red, and look to stay that way even when they release the Revolution. Both Sony and Microsoft are looking to take insain hits in the push to release theirs
I dont know about you but the whole point of being in buisness is to make money, and Nintendo does that every year. A lot of the "faiilure" of other makers is not that they dont have superior systems, its that they spent way too much promoting a system that they where selling for a loss... something Nintendo has NEVER done cause they know their limits and know what happens if you dont follow them (Virtual Boy anyone?)
Alreadys the PSP is on its way out with barely a hint at any decent games coming while the DS has a slew of games that have boosted the sales in Japan well past the PSP. The revolution is poised to be a decent 2nd system that/gasp DOESNT SELL FOR A LOSS unlike the 360 and PS3 which will... so every system they sell MAKES money.
Nintendo also has a pretty hefty piggy bank that they havent even touched recently because of the fact they make a profit every year.
Nintendos far from over, they are the Apple of the gamming world, and everyone knows you can make a mint fast, but its the ones who refine what they do and do it day in day out with profit who in the end win. The PS3 and 360 can be awsome machines, but if they produce too much loss for their respective companys they will be cut loose no mater how many games they can sell and how much money their parent companys have. Losses are losses and this who game is about profits.
actually Gundam was first, just didnt get hung up on the transforming thing, only a few of the Mechs could even do it and at least half of those where destroyed before the end of the show.
apparently MS through the wonders of timetravel have managed to go back in time and stop the terrorists from destroying the WTC towers since their map shows them both there.....
Its only too bad i can look out my window and see its another false hope from Bill and Co.:/
well there is no reason to not start on a server with top lvl players and infact it could lead to problems as some NMs are higher than the items they drop and thus the items would be impossible for new players to obtain initially.
From what has been said Xbox players will be on the same servers not to much of a issue though i have a feeling they will be load balenced to other servers than the ones with most players.
And if you have friends on other servers its not a issue, just have them make a worldpass for you and give you the ID so you can start in their server.
As for new servers, last 2 where added with the addition of the EU players. There are 32 total so its unlikely they will add more though not unheardof.
What will be interesting is if the xBox version will come with the 3rd expansion (treasure of or if that will come later
While Korean MMO numbers are kind of hard to peg down based on how many play in internet cafes, even half of the normal estimates would put games like Lineage ahead of WoW.
If there was one thing Blizzards always been good at its hype.
sadly not the case, I have contested (rightfully) two bogus speeding tickets, and lost because a lot of the methods told to people that courts let you off on (cop not showing, radar maintinence) dont mean squat to a judge. your pretty much guilty as soon as you walk in the door of wasting his time.
very shameful yet common practice in the tech world going back since before the boom but really catching on during it. Basically when you sign a contract with a high profile tech company there is usually a clause saying you cant work for someone in a simular field for usually 6 months to a year, maybe even longer.
Now depending on how its handled almost always this means the company MUST pay you in that year time some sort of severence package since obviously you will be out of work. Likewise other companies might even buy out this clause when they hire you, paying the company to get you. Really its ment for high lvl jobs but i have seen even middle management get this clause put in. A lot of states are now banning or have banned it though since its a disgusting practice and reaches into all sorts of rights issues.
That being said it is almost 99% certain MS is going to get it kicked out of court. Google would never have hired him without paying off MS unless they where certain that MSs clause had no bearing on what this guys new duties would be.
From what i saw at Aintitcoonew about the panel, it never was ment to be on earth, nor was it to have a lot of the changes that they had been saying. ID was involved from the start and that they had planned it to be exactly like the game, to the point of even having some of the maps redone as actual sets, and a whole really cool first person scene where for a few minutes your seeing through the main characters eyes and it plays out exactly like the game.
What shocked me was that unlike most rumors "The Rock" is NOT the main character.
Working in a IT department and buying from Dell all the time I will tell you right now your lying out of your ass about it comming with SP2 unless they changed their policys within the last week. And no firewall wasnt enabled as it was on a LAN with 4 other machines that had firewall already on.
The fact is that these machines should NOT be getting infected out of the box, yet they are even while updating, and thats a major issue and its one Microsoft took years to even ADMIT was a issue and start fixing. And im sorry but the slashdot world needs to start getting it through their brain that the dumb are who we need to be shooting for IT wise, and not the people who know what they are doing, because they are whos going to be using these products. Stop thinking like your uber l337 cause are your abilitys wont mean shit to the dullart who through his ignorance installed a virus that will launch a DDOS attack on your networks systems.
just bought a brand new HP for my girlfriends parents two weeks ago, not only was SP2 not installed, but in the time it took me to hookup, download updates and install Norton, it was already infected with 2 minor viruses and thought there was a 3rd (there wasnt, just a program asking it to do something it didnt like)
So yes I would readily say that 80% of new out of box PCs are infected.... If i did all this and I knew what I was doing and still got infected in 30 minutes, could you imagine someone who didnt.
also forgot chocobo racing the ability to solo with a NPC partner and a change in the number of mobs in a area as well as the last chapter of the CoP storyline.
I havent used a floppy since Apple stopped putting them on computers and you know what, I never once in all these years missed it. Not once.
There is nothing out there right now that SOMETHING cant fill the place that the floppy once had, yet I see posts even here talking about "never know when you will need it" Yet I dont need it, it really is wasted space and there are plenty of better things out there that can fill its place as a emergancy boot device, and a storage device.
Does a whole generation of nerd need to move on and retire before people get the hint to stop buying this peice of 70's technology for their 21 century computer???
No kidding, god forbid the child attack the teacher, 3 teachers around here have been fired for self defense even though it is LEGAL to defend yourself against a attacker, if its a student (both have unlawful termination lawsuits pending)
While generally the kids are ok, though not nearly as fearful of punishment as I was growing up, there are a number of students going through the ranks that know nothing major can be done to punish them. Worse is those students who are so politicaly connected to the system that failing them will get you fired (a surprising number of them infact) They know they have to go short of killing someone before they even get a slap on a wrist and they WILL use that to their advantage.
1) Parents MUST be held to their childrens actions. I am so sick of teachers spending over half the day taking care of kids and not teaching because parents suck! Its as simple as that, parents these days dont know a thing about parenting and its in direct relation to THEIR parents sucking as parents. Kids have no problems cursing out their teachers and disrespecting older people... there is a reason why and its in the home.
2) Make it easier to be a teach, but weed out the bad teachers. We have a overwelming lack of good teachers and a overwelming number of bad ones, why? Cause right now it takes more work to become a teacher than to make good money in a related field of work, so that only the diehards who REALLY want to teach (who are few and far between), or the people who have nothing else to fall back on do it. Pay better money, make it easier but at the same time make sure you get rid of the bad ones before they get tenure.
3) End standardized testing. Its a joke, shows absolutely nothing but the person is a good test taker, and truthful give a false readout of if the students are doing well or not. I know great testakers who are total morons, and I know people who did horrable on the SATs yet could mentaly do the calculations for perfect satalite trajectories.
4) Stop comparing the US to other countries. Im sorry the fact that other contries are smarter or not is bullshit and anyone who actually reads the numbers will see that unlike other contries, the US is the only large country that requires attendance to high school. Most countries dont even send their children TO high school, they take tests and then are forcfully placed into what their job will be based on those tests.
5) Stop treating college as the end of school. High school should be where most of your life skills are learned, NOT college. Right now High schools teach as if kids are going to college, and not as if these students will be entering the workforce. In this buisnesses who refuse to higher qualified high school grads over a unqualified college grad based soley on a peice of paper are directly responsible and should be made to blame. College is ment to further your enducation, not complete it.
Kick out the bad seeds. Make them do labor and send them to special schools. 90% of most school problems can be directly atributed to less than 5% of the schools population. In the future if people start listening to suggestion one and actually parent their kids, this might be able to be removed. But at the moment there is just to many wasted humans who need to sadly be forced to stop being asshats thanks to their parents that schools just cant cope unless you have a special program for it.
START FUNDING EDUCATION! You want people to be smart start actually put money into the schools instead of saying it and then screwing the books so that schools actually get.5% of what you promised. No Child Left Behind was great at this as they promised money to support the program and have yet in 5 years to hand a cent out to anyone but the government buddys.
yeah but a good one is around the range of the Revolutions expected price, they want this to be dirt cheap.
As I said in another post, I have a feeling this is for those people who dont have wifi and who might even still use dialup. Likely anyone who does have a wifi setup wont need it. Nintendo is basically taking the Apple route and making it stupidly easy for the common man to do, which for a gaming system I think is a very smart move.
obviously its using a computer because they want to make it as cheap as possible (maybe even in the 30 dollar range or less) by eliminating things in the router a computer can do, but still offer it for the laymen 98% of whom DONT read slashdot and who are NOT tech savvy and thus might not have 802.11 access in their house or *gasp* use a dial up modem!!!
well the truth is schools is a misconseption. the install base for Dell in schools is MUCH lower than they claim, their turnaround rate though is much higher which is why they can claim they sell to more schools, BUT in truth there are almost the same number of computers as before, they just replaced their 1.5-2 year old Dells which crap out extreamly fast in a school enviroment, sometimes within a year (thank god for service plans)
Macs on the otherhand last a MUCH longer time. Up untill 2 years ago I still had fully used and working 5500s in some of our buildings in some labs. We still have at least 200-300 1st gen iMacs and infact barely ever buy macs, even though our install base is over 1500. They barely break and are easily repaired and do everything they need to do so why replace them. The only time we ever actually replace them is either cause the CRT goes out, or the motherboard dies. harddrive and optical drive problems are easily repaired by ordering parts even on iMacs.
If anything Apples biggest problem is they build things too well so the numbers dont match the actual install base. Wasnt there a/. article a month ago talking about that fact that Mac are actually 11-15% and not the horrable 2-5% some people give it.
No its not exclusive, infact they have stated just the opposit, that they hope to be getting it onto any system that can support it (which leads people to beleive a PS3 and Mac version is comming)

not that far out of sight.... he just did Spy Kids 3D as the grandfather.... in his wheelchair. Guy might be old, but hes still kicking

even getting an OK was a shock, prior to it they where giving only a 28% chance weather would be ok to launch.
even if they hadnt for the sensor, they where likely going to scrub it for weather. They only had a 40% chance of launching today.
1) email yourself
2) copy it onto a flash drive
3) load it into a share that you can then access at home.

the Apple airport handles 56k too, but if you look all of them are easily 80+ while i suspect this thing wont even break 40 dollars.
