You can make a movie for free if you have a digital cam, well I guess electricity counts.
This will definitly hurt the huge budget, over produced, crap fests that are all over the radio today, not that peers won't still be editing and producing each others work.
I heard "The White Stripes" the other day and it took me 5 minutes to figure out that it was distortion not something going terrible terribly wrong.
Musicians will have to go a little more technical if they want to rework their stuff, but you know what in 5 years we won't miss Britney.
As far as movies go, I guess you like blockbusters, well there have been some pretty decent action movies made with lower budgets, course, they don't have huge advertising budgets so we probably don't know any of the same movies.
Oh well when the big boys are gone we can discuss all the great cult films that we missed during the "Stalone" and "Swartzerneggger" days... ah I can't wait to reminice about the stupidly overbudget titanic...
"So grandpa they built a whole ship for $200,000,000??"
"yup!"
"Why?"
Because people were paying $12 to see movies and $40 for DVD's, isn't that crazy!"
Um, companies share more human characteristics than you seem to be implying.
Sure companies have their self interest at heart, so do people, do you mail 2/3 of your meals to africa? I think not, they need to remain profitable or they won't be around to do good deeds.
For large companies money isn't really an objective, they simply want to continue pursuing research for the good of the public.
Open office I can't see as being profitable except by breaking the.doc stranglehold and therefore saving them money on liscencing but I think that motivation pales in comparison with their empathy for the totally messed up state of documentation standards.
Solaris is released in a cold calculating way, but that's a matter of perspective.
They aren't trying to lock anyone into anything, they simply want people to have access to this operating system because they think it's the best.
Few can afford to liscence solaris just for personal learning so yes Linux will win in the long run unless they do something to get the techies onboard.
Actually I was in the Sony building in Japan and they were really pushing the PSX it had tonnes of functions but it was about $1200 bucks.
People navigated around the beautiful menu's then left never to return.
Considering how hard sony was pushing it and how little demand there was for it I'm not surprised that it was a big loss.
The PSP does need to strech it's wings before we'll know if it as amazing as it could be, I just want a damn webrowser/Skype machine gimme gimme gimme!
I've been thinking it's been keeping the dollar afloat and this will only continue. America has some pretty serious inflation going on which hasn't been matched by increased production.
They really need some new inventions that JUST WORK to get people interested again, but I guess this is a pretty standard economic downturn, maybe the collapse of the U.S. global economy will come next cycle.
That's sooo cold. But remember once we were far above them, though of course we will be again.
Hehehehehe ban our beef, we'll stop shipping you grain, eat your funny green money we'll see who starves first.
The above was not meant to be a reasoned analysis of the stability of our two currencies, just a hope that the Chinese will decide to lock their currency against the CDN $ rather than the american one. Also I'd like to have a really nice vid card cost less chocolate bars here.
When I was in Korea I knew a little paduk. I went to Incheon where there is a mountain with a big statue of MacArthur, anyway there are a bunch of old guys who play there every day. They were nice and let me play, we didn't speak the same language but I had a blast and came back the next day.
Anyway just go and watch, but really you'll need to play at some point.
First off China is already a developing country, (The new system think of it as second world). Second their rate of growth is about 5-6x that of the U.S. really if you want to see an ecconomy about to be left in the dust look at America.
You don't think Americans are getting upset over nothing do you?
People are saying that Valve has no responsability to their consumers, which shows just how messed up the "marketplace" has gotten. Yes the seller has a responsability to their customers, you can't sell something that doesn't work, advertise falsely, the original EULA can have some terrible stuff in it because software is never seen as nescessary (even a monopoly like Microsoft is exempt) because software used to be written in house and the law's reflect that.
But what valve is doing in terms of forced obscelescence is covered in most countries commercial statutes.
Really, this should cross the line into what is WRONG with liscencing, and if it wasn't a game this would have been shot down.
But whatever Gamers can't organize, we know it, so in the ass this goes.
You are kind of a fool, the basis for any decent economy is manufacturing. Yes you want to reap the physical wealth from a country in the form of resources and turn them into goods and sell them back.
Recently the idea of intellectual property as goods to be sold has been catching on, but it got exploited too much just like taxes, (salt tax and tea taxes in colonies respectively), and so is currently being ignored, (like the taxes were.
Moving back to a manufacturing ecconomy will be the hardest thing nations like Japan and America ever have to do, but there will be no choice.
Skype is fairly bloated which the OSS will have to deal with at some point but it is really an excellent program, I wish it supported other information about users such as ICQ #'s and MSN user names. This would make it integrate better with older IM's. But on the whole their business model is pretty good.
They don't charge for fractions of a minute which they will eventually need to start doing but mostly I couldn't be happier with their business ethos.
I think it's kind of funny that everyone assumed it was going to be the republicans who would rig the vote.
I mean how else could they possibly win!

This technology is going to advance really fast...
:P
When they get it to the PRON stage of testing
Get mine from irc.nullus.net #bookwarez.
Read them on by Tungsten E ($130 cdn) used to read them on my Palm ($30 for a cheap palm.
Rechargeable internal battery is a good idea, you'll go through a lot otherwise.

You don't need infinite bandwidth, just enough for the client to receive images and upload keystrokes and mouse commands. Simple.

Crashes my opera. And with the nifty, open on last page feature it was a pain to get rid of the problem.

I've been to Cambodia, Laos, and Nicaragua. Believe me there is a totally destroyed one. Perhaps Not-Developing. That could be applied.
Terminology aside we'll seen soon enough what China can do.

Under Treuduea possible.
Under Martin, no.

No... they took down WON which was the old authentification system. Which forced everyone to crack or get Steam.
You want a damn disco ball? Then you go spend a billion dollars on research.
Damn hippies always want something for nothing.
Why weren't YOU in trekkies ego stroking boy?
Diana wouldn't let you out of the cabin?
yea... as many as they need. Six.
If they make a big stink it'll get into some papers, which might see the light of day, as opposed to Slashdot.
It's all about having people ask "Now why would they do that?" and the answer is written right there in the image.
Like the Osama video's describe why he did THAT but of course no one is allowed to see those.

Dude you are a total badass. I have the Xbox the mod chip the HD and the emulators but the balls to build a friggin cabinate? No way.
If I had my own place I'd think about it, this is really awsome.
Whoa slow down. So let me get this straight 820 pds TNT = 5.4 tonnes of TNT?
Dude you need the metric system SO BAD!
However 820 pounds is quite a bit of weight to throw up there and accelerate around, isn't a satellite like 1kg these days?
They must be really looking for something, fossil fuels? But they won't have any Arab's to bomb, I don't think the U.S. government will go for it.
Well in this case I say more power to them!
