Thank you, I agree. The first Matrix was a really tight, lean, dark, self-contained movie, and it's great.

The second was a sprawling, fun, pulpy, super-hero movie and I think if people accepted it as such they'd like it more. IMO, if the second one was released on it's own and didn't have to live up to people's expectations from the first one, it would be remembered as a really really good super-hero movie.

The third one, I thought, didn't do a good enough job at tying things up and explaining things from the second. It had some very good moments, but it went totally off the rails and mystical to explain things. Neo didn't stop the sentinels in reloaded because he was still in the matrix, or because he was a machine himself. No, he had... a connection... to the source. Also, the ending seems to set things up a little too neatly for the upcoming MMORPG.

Leaching as in taking code, improving it, and releasing your modifications back to the community. Which is how open source works.

I seriously doubt that the reason for such a long delay would arise from a simple speed-bump.

It would if they're trying to cram a new hotter processor in there (G5). I'm sure it'll still be called an iMac, at any rate.

No, no it wouldn't be easier. For the vast majority of people, it's easier to have a few applications installed with the system. I believe you can choose what not to install. I'm not sure, I haven't installed OS X in a while.

Either way, I'm not sure what you mean by the time you have to waste dragging and dropping icons; All the applications installed by default are in /Applications, it will take literally 3 seconds to drop whatever you don't want. It doesn't seem horrible onerous to spend a few seconds to reclaim that 50 megs or whatever.

Wow, like 7 of those were on Fox. They seem to be the worst at: creating a really interesting show, then moving it around, giving it horrible time-slots, preempting it, and just doing everything they can to destroy it. Then they can say "This show has horrible ratings. CANCELED!". I've heard it described in an interview as there being different 'fiefdoms' in a network. The Reality-TV fiefdom, the sitcom fiefdom, and so on, all fighting each-other for control of the network.

And don't forget that Mercerism wasn't the only religion in it. There was the Buster Friendly TV show, more of a mainstream corporate thing. Buster Friendly was quite opposed to Mercerism, and in fact was this show that aired the exposé debunking it. Certainly some symbolism in the dynamic between those two, those I can't claim to completely understand it.

Plus, the people in this book are in deep shit. Earth has been used up and turned into a wasteland. Pretty much everyone who can afford to has left it.
