Thank you, I agree. The first Matrix was a really tight, lean, dark, self-contained movie, and it's great.
The second was a sprawling, fun, pulpy, super-hero movie and I think if people accepted it as such they'd like it more. IMO, if the second one was released on it's own and didn't have to live up to people's expectations from the first one, it would be remembered as a really really good super-hero movie.
The third one, I thought, didn't do a good enough job at tying things up and explaining things from the second. It had some very good moments, but it went totally off the rails and mystical to explain things. Neo didn't stop the sentinels in reloaded because he was still in the matrix, or because he was a machine himself. No, he had... a connection... to the source. Also, the ending seems to set things up a little too neatly for the upcoming MMORPG.
Um, Rendezvous actually came from OSS zeroconf and Safari took much from Konqueror. There's a big difference between giving to the open source community and leaching from the open source community.
Leaching as in taking code, improving it, and releasing your modifications back to the community. Which is how open source works.
No, no it wouldn't be easier. For the vast majority of people, it's easier to have a few applications installed with the system. I believe you can choose what not to install. I'm not sure, I haven't installed OS X in a while.
Either way, I'm not sure what you mean by the time you have to waste dragging and dropping icons; All the applications installed by default are in/Applications, it will take literally 3 seconds to drop whatever you don't want. It doesn't seem horrible onerous to spend a few seconds to reclaim that 50 megs or whatever.
strange, I've seen bad code in linux tons more than I see it in MS Windows. Guess I'm not looking at linux through jaded glasses though
Or maybe that you aren't looking at MS code at all? And if by 'Linux' you mean programs that run on Linux, then you should really include every crappy share/free-ware program for Windows as well.
Wow, like 7 of those were on Fox. They seem to be the worst at: creating a really interesting show, then moving it around, giving it horrible time-slots, preempting it, and just doing everything they can to destroy it. Then they can say "This show has horrible ratings. CANCELED!". I've heard it described in an interview as there being different 'fiefdoms' in a network. The Reality-TV fiefdom, the sitcom fiefdom, and so on, all fighting each-other for control of the network.
And don't forget that Mercerism wasn't the only religion in it. There was the Buster Friendly TV show, more of a mainstream corporate thing. Buster Friendly was quite opposed to Mercerism, and in fact was this show that aired the exposé debunking it. Certainly some symbolism in the dynamic between those two, those I can't claim to completely understand it.
Plus, the people in this book are in deep shit. Earth has been used up and turned into a wasteland. Pretty much everyone who can afford to has left it.
(OT: Wow, an insightful and polite comment. You sure you're on the right website?)

Java Faster Than C++?

I think Java is highly overrated. I would prefer that a better C++ (a C-like memory model, powerful generic programming, inheritance, and polymorphism) that lacked C++'s current nightmare of strangely interacting features and syntax.
Have you looked at Objective-C? I'm not an expert, but it sounds just like what you describe. As a downside though, I'm not sure how well supported it is on non-OS-X platforms.
Well, this isn't really much of a practical survey of which scripting language is the best. Part one is a few checkbox features. Part two is program length, and is worth about twice the score of part one. It's really just a terseness survey and IMHO, even in a scripting language, it's a lot more complex then fewer-characters=better.
Yeah, you think someone isn't so bad, then it turns out they aren't a terrorist... wait...

Well, as far as I understand it most of the point of the iPod is the size/weight (Physical size of the drive, that is), especially for the mini. You can get mp3 players with larger/heavier sized hard-drives if that's what you want.
Ok, to play devil's advocate to the devil's advocate:
Let's say I patent making a peanut-butter and jam sandwich. Oh, but not just any PB&J sandwich, that would be silly. My patent is only on making it on the 3rd sunday of the month, using a knife with a green handle. And I cut it diagonally afterwards. So you see, it's very specific and most of you won't be bothered at all by this. Those of you who do infringe, however, prepare for a lawsuit!
Uhh, she was the first person to see sunlight but it's not like they're living total darkness underground. Her eyes would be accustomed to some light.

It would if they're trying to cram a new hotter processor in there (G5). I'm sure it'll still be called an iMac, at any rate.

Pfft, all real geeks know it was a radio show first! Plus, there was that bad Beeb miniseries, and the upcoming movie.
Well, you know Tim I could answer your question, but you and I would be the only ones who would understand, and that includes CmdrTaco.
Just once I'd love to see CmdrTaco come in and show you old-timers who's boss.
And the Lone Gunmen are Spider-Man's father!
Ah, sorry. I misunderstood.
Umm, he didn't say that was a bad thing. Just that all documentaries do have a particular point of view.
Adium is a good OS X jabber client, give it a try.
There's AOL Canada too. Branding knows no logic.

Dang, foiled by a misspelling that's also a word (Lousy freaking carriages).
Wow, I didn't know you could do that! I hereby define the word Hansom to mean nerdy and I expect everyone to start referring to me as such!
