We don't consider a calculator a genius, or a computer. Neither have the capacity to comprehend complex social situations, or very abstract concepts.
Not that I am trying to liken him to a calculator- but within our society we take for granted our own intelligence, and our own abilities because they do come so easily to us.

I think this would be useful for sex offenders, especially pedophiles- where their proximity to a school could alert police- or if they do ever decide to take off with a kid- they would be easy to hunt down.
Also useful in cases where people are placed under house arrest, or limited from leaving the state or country.
I think it's a great idea, and I hope that technology like this is used to track, and control known criminals.

  7. Re:Okay that's a start... on Microsoft Anti-Spyware to Be Free of Charge · · Score: 1

No it's more about theory- that they use IE as a tool to create a monopoly- or windows media player-- Microsoft's entire business model is about creating monopolies- not about innovation, not about being the best- just simply securing power and control. Microsoft has been a criminal organization in the past, and in the EU continues to disrespect the public-trust it was given.
It's why they ship poor products. It's why they are releasing Xbox2 as soon as they can. It's why they lobby governments. It's why they create coalitions. It's why they create DRM.
It is a disgraceful practice, it is both anti-capitalistic, and unethical. Despite the fact they actually fixed a problem they had created, I think it will take a little more for me to garner some semblance of faith in their corporation. I would begin to respect them if they attempted to show that they are willing to work towards creating, and respecting standards that should be available to everyone-- This should be an act of goodwill, and also as a strong desire to see something, such as the internet, progress into something better (and perhaps even profitable to them and others in the future).
It's unfortunate that I had to explain myself in greater detail- but I hope that clarifies things for you.

  9. Anti-Environment on Kyoto Protocol Comes Into Force · · Score: 1

The Bush administration is still riding on many of Clinton's (pro business almost republican) economic policies.
They have also loosened environmental laws, that will in turn increase pollution by businesses rather than shrink them in the long term.
I don't think the US has any real incentive to join Kyoto- The US has always been a very inward looking country- only 9% of the GDP comes from trade- Do they care what Japan and Canada have to say? ... no.
I think it's one more reason people will hate America.

  11. My Cell Phone Rant on Nokia To Use Microsoft Digital Music Software · · Score: 1

...Okay I am being serious here- not trying to flame, or troll.
But why do people need cell phones? Admittedly I have owned a couple in my day, and worked for a major cellphone network-- but I still fail to see the real purpose of them.
Typically I make plans, people call me- leave a message on my answering machine and we do something-- do you really need to be on call for 24 hours a day?
I understand business using them, I understand using them for fear of something happening while driving. But they are so unnecessary for most people. Seeing people shopping with them- having their lazy ass spouse on the other end - whether it's a video-store, or grocery store it is almost disturbing.
It seems cell phones don't even know where they belong, you have cell phones with PDA features, the Ngage, photo-cameras, and now mp3-store phones. There seems to be something amiss.
Cell Phones are the ultimate scam- akin to selling air. I would say I am indifferent to cell phone users ... I just am questioning their relevancy and looking for others point of view.

fact #1 Apple and Sony have been awfully close for the past few years- with some dialogue between the two CEOs.
fact #2 Apple has signed up to display at E3 this year- but hasn't published any official info on their site.
fact #3 The Mac is somewhat deficient when it comes to gaming when compared to the Windows PC.
So my speculation is that it is possible that Apple intends to build a new Mac aimed at the gaming market that will be compatible and play Sony's PS3 games- Apple in turn could publish games for the PS3.
