So if 45% of people get sick, either bride or groom or the minister will not make it through the ceremony...
Qute from our beloved Wikipedia:
The most common problem experienced by humans in the initial hours of weightlessness is known as space adaptation syndrome or SAS, commonly referred to as space sickness. Symptoms of SAS include nausea and vomiting, vertigo, headaches, lethargy, and overall malaise. The first case of SAS was reported by cosmonaut Gherman Titov in 1961. Since then, roughly 45% of all people who have flown in space have suffered from this condition. The duration of space sickness varies, but in no case has it lasted for more than 72 hours, after which the body adjusts to the new environment. NASA jokingly measures SAS using the "Garn scale", named for United States Senator Jake Garn, whose SAS during STS-51-D was the worst on record. Accordingly, one "Garn" is equivalent to the most severe possible case of SAS.[13]

Many of MS own products do not work properly if you are not administrator. I tried this last with Win XP and office 2003 and had all kinds of issues. MS (!!) Office itself ended up no working properly. This was two years ago so I dont recall the specific errors I encountered. I still have to work with the same software so no further try to do this.
Open lid and work. Immediately. No "resume". No wait. It just works.
Close lide.
The biggest advantage of MacBooks IMHO is that they have NO startup time when opening the lid. The battery stays OK with a closed lid for about 3 days, so no need to really boot up.
rolling stops:
Would like to know how much energy the US wastes with those 4 way stops. Why and when did yield signs go out of style that allow to have a roll stop? I really dont understand why there are so many more stop signs in the US than anywhere else...
Us, the techies can decide:
Either being eaten by patented green goo or slaughtered by open sourced nano tech mini robotic gray goo!
Make up your minds - on which side are you standing?
Life 2.0 vs. Gray Goo - get on your keyboards, vent (!) it out! ms
this little silly pain made me learn how to use my left hand for the mouse. I have also learned to reduce any movements that are unnecessary so I made all my pointing devices super sensitive and fast. This means I only have to use the tip of my left index finger to move the mouse cursor between my G, B, and H keys (which is more comfy and less stressfull than reaching to the mouse or the touchpad below the keyboard).
But hey, you gotta watch out - while writing this, for the first time after five years with this right to left hand switch, my left hand seems to hurt as well?!?! Or is it only psychological?!;-)
How can a mobile phone be better shielded?
Don't understand - I thought the signal from the mobile network is causing interference with loudspeakers, not the shielding of the internal electronics of the phone.
Calm down, cuddle with your cheap windows machine that has such a great design, admire the 3000 Stickers like Celeron inside! Windows Serial 21109275lxXUXIASDU use these screwdriver for those screws FC blah blah Type Number: Model Number:

Wow? Where was I?...so caught up in those beautifully desined stickers,...
Yeah, Jim, and you are right: I love that I have to reboot my laptop every day. Takes only 5 minutes in XP until all my progs are up and running again.
Why the hell could my wife on her MacBook write two troll articles underneath yours while I was booting up to write this lame one?!
One thing Palm does not understand (anymore) is KILLER. As in killer application. Right now, in the corporate (and more and more in the private) world the killer app is simple/y mobile e-mail. Unfortunately (from my personal point of view) scheduling also must be compatible with Microsoft Outlook.
Nothing more nothing less. If they do not do it right now with mobile e-mail they will be history. It is this simple.
I used to love Palm(s). Since I got my BB and my Palm causes Outlook to hang when I sync I love my BB more and more even though the user interface sucks big time compared to my Treo 650.
OK and finally get some Voip and WLAN into your smartphone for us/. smart asses!
Is this a Mr. Smith? Mr. Anderson should be someone to prevent Backdoors, not create them. Or is the Neo in him trying to trick the Matrix with its own weapons?!;-)
... would be to destroy all accounts first and then give notice;-)
Seriously: Believe that this happens everywhere. The time an employee leaves is the most vulnerable in terms of security. Most data gets stolen then. That said, it is obviously naive to believe that the employee did not have a chance to steal data on the day before he resigned.
In Austria one of the UMTS providers offers a package for the deaf. ASAIK there is even content available in sign language. Otherwise the package offers video minutes at a very reduces rate allowing for video only communication all of the time.
The URL of the provider is
http://www.drei.at (in german, you might find the same at their UK branch at http://www.three.co.uk but maybe they don't offer this package)
From a global point of view it does not make sense to invest too much into research on Ebola as it only causes problems for a view people (who are extremly poor creatures that need help of course, don't get me wrong!).
Putting the money into Malaria related projects would benefit more humans, as Malaria is one of the biggest killers in Africa, esp. amoungst children. HIV would be next on this list as whole generations are at risk and actually dying because of HIV.
But surely it is interesting to do research on Ebola and with the mediy hype about it you can even become famous...
...ctrl + click, which is extremly easy with a laptop as ctrl is close to the mouse button.
Another thing you might not have noticed is that you can click and hold down the mouse button for the content menu to appear. So there is really no need for a second button, everything has been designed to be used with just one button. (I have not tried if this also works with Virtual PC and windows or with X11 applications - somebody?)
The only thing I would miss with an Apple mouse is the scroll wheel.
after summer has started and everybody is gone to the beach.
But OK - let RIAA think everybody listens to them (sic!) so they hopefully shut up soon.
Cu at the beach:-)
As long as they don't get slashdotted in their brains I have no fear for them!
Compare/. to TV and you will see what makes you more aggressive: Some troll paid by *@!#! or David Hasselhoff in his fancy car;-)
Don't get me wrong: Through out my TV to have more quality time but now it seems I am only spending it here...
hmm saw your post somewhere else before, make shure no DRM applies;-)
I find nothing wrong with logging into my parents' computer from time to time (usually after major updates of KDE or the like) and updating everything over the net without them even knowing.
That made me more productive, yes. With SuSE I always lost dependency war...
Even though I appreciate your detailed listing of features Opera seems to offer, you never seem to have used Mozilla 1.3 or 1.4b which offers a whole bunch of features you mentioned with _real_ platform independence not to mention that it is free as in free speech (a term that has been stretched to much, I know, esp. when it comes to projects like Mozilla that are basically funded by one more or less huge company) - but still...
On the long run I see more potential in Mozilla / firebird than in Opera.
BTW - not using OS X for only having Opera 6 available is sad. Sad for you, because building Gentoo on one of my boxes and lurking in the console most of the time I can assure you: You miss a lot with OS X - it is just there, you can rely on it, even if you played around with it it doesn't let you down on the next day's presentations....and, AFAIK this Opera 7 is coming:-)
To get back on track: Yes Opera offers a lot, but tweaking Mozilla also brings you Gestures and and even more refined poops - up killer.
Just my two cents.
Grrr - just try some major distribution like SuSE, install _everything_ in 30 mins ("Standard System") including Office and whatever.
plug in Digicam - works
plug in Scanner - works
plug in WLAN PCMCIA card - works
Visit site offering rpms and install _from within_ the browser (konqueror) (did that to update Mozilla).
Give it to computer beginner and you will receive the _same_ questions you would have been asked giving Windows to them. But now viruses, updates from your home via shell.
What else do you want?? A user who does more in Windows than mail will be able to point his browser to rpm archive pages and install software in Konqueror.
Why do I know? Because everything mentioned above happened when I switched my parents to Linux.
You mentioned easy of use and not availability of software. That is another story of course.
I meant updating from SP2 to SP3 with all bells and whistles took 9 reboots (including new media player,.net framework, security updates) - that is what I meant with "progs".
The problem was, that it had to install several updates _seperately_ which is insane, because I had to reboot after each one. Try it yourself.
I am not inventing problems with windows, but I find it annoying that it always gives you the attitude that its (=the computer's, window's) time is more important than a human being's time!
OS X makes many things comfortable. Could not believe a 9 times reboot to update win2000 to the latest service packs and progs. But furtunately I am running in only for testing reasons in virtual pc so my work does not stop during rebooting in a OS X window;-)

OK, so I will start the obvious thread:
What are the differences to Neooffice?
Are they working together?
Besides the slow startup I feel Neooffice already has taken that niche, hasn't it?
What database from Microsoft do you mean? Database? Microsoft? No, that does not fit together... :)
