    If they ever try to regulate business and privately owned websites, I predict the following will happen.

    1. Websites will start hosting their services outside of the US.
    2. Sites will detect ADA requests and only serve a plain text page with basic contact info.

    I'm not a fan of the negative side effects (frivolous lawsuits) of the ADA regulations.

    Most consumers already own HDTVs, so offering up a clearer picture is no longer a reason for people to go out and buy the latest, greatest TV. The industry needed a new gimmick to open wallets, and 3D is that gimmick.

    Yes. Soldiers return home suffering from many psychological disorders, including PTSD, due to the horrible things they see and experience while deployed.

    Occasionally seeing disturbing images is not a problem for most people, but if you spend 40 hours a week, every week, looking at all sorts of disturbing crap, your mind will become twisted.

    The more CPU time a person puts toward the network the more free currency they "earn". This means the early adopters are basically printing currency that later adopters must purchase.

    Working adults pay for the "free" education with taxes. I don't think the kids will be shelling out the money for the laptops, so to them nothing has changed.

    Manufacturing cost is a good place to start. It's not like this is a one of kind prototype that took years to make and there are no schematics to build a replacement. Like most device companies, they sent an NDA and schematics to a manufacturer in china. I wouldn't be surprised if they had hundreds of these prototypes passed out for QA purposes.

    The issue is that citizens are not required to carry documentation and in most situations we are not required to present it. Without seeing documentation, 'reasonable suspicion' will be interpreted as "not white" by the bigots and outright racists that found their way in to the police force. End result is that this is going to have a lot of negative backlash for Arizona and Arizona's police.

    I'd think that a developer would have plenty of time to anonymously chat with journalists after being fired/quiting after burning out from the excessive hours. At a few points in my career, I found myself working 80+ hour weeks. It's not fun and if it was sustained for more than a few consecutive weeks, I would have left because you don't have the free time to do anything besides work.

    Wasn't there another story earlier about how only the USA would be getting iPads for the foreseeable future? How much mre non-news could this story be?

    Yes, but Americans for some silly reason venture out from the glorious USA homeland and visit other countries, one of which has decided to enforce their local regulations in such a way as to prevent this popular item from being brought in to the country.

    To develop for the iphone, you're supposed to develop on a mac OS that requires a license and the license (money) states the OS has to run on mac hardware (more money). If they allow 3rd party dev tools/langauges, then they lose out on OS and hardware sales.
