    Sergey and Larry are not really bad names considering his kids will already be teased for their last name. It's not like he's going to name the kids "Adolf Hitler Gaylord" or "Sarah Palin Gaylord", like those other parent of the year candidates. I would feel bad for a girl if she was named Sergey or Larry.

    I'm curious if Google would rip out all the fiber if/when Mr Gaylord fails to provide children.

    Based upon the limited information in the story, I don't think the step father should go to jail. I view this the same as if the child had died after taking pills that were mistakenly left next to a bowl of candy. He needs to lose his right to own firearms.

    Using source is pointless if the compiler binaries you have are not entirely trusted. It is entirely possible that at some point many years ago malicious code was added to gcc and undetected. This code would become compiled in to a malicious binary. At that point, the malicious source code could be removed because it would get inserted by the maliciously built binary. All subsequent source can no longer be trusted since it is used to compiled clean source to create the next binary for the compiler. The malicious code would get passed on from version to version because it is stored in the compiled binary from many version before.

    How do you know that gcc and other compilers have not been compromised in such a way as to inject code in to certain compiled applications? The only way to be certain is to formally prove a compiler's source and then compiled binary.

    It means that they bypassed the root user password. This is easily accomplished when you have physical access to the machine. It's often used for recovering from a forgotten root password.

    Unfortunately, the pony is doomed to die. Even if the pony doesn't die of thirst waiting for iWater to be approved, it will starve because Apple quite possibly maybe think about implementing an app with similar features in the future, so they rejected iFood.

    The only thing this ruling establishes is that if you're going to use your GPS data as evidence, make sure it actually proves you were not speeding, instead of agreeing with the radar.

    Seriously though, in every case like this where the defendant (the kid) lies to the court, they should be charged with contempt. If you don't want to lie, take the 5th. It sickens me daily that the majority of our courts time is wasted with dickless wonders who are too scared to accept responsibility for their actions.

    Sure, but only if Police officers are fired and charged with contempt when they lie under oath. They should be held to a much higher standard.

    With the amount of "evidence" in the article, the same accusation could be made against the GPL project. Perhaps the author of that project illegally gained access to Microsoft code and used it as a starting point for ImageMaster.

    There will be a lot more insects finding their way to the sugar water. Most likely ants will find the sugar and swarm on it first.

    I keep bees and have to feed them sugar water when weather doesn't cooperate with their collection of pollen and nectar. The only thing that keeps ants away from the sugar water I feed to a hive are the hundreds of guard bees. They bite at the ants and chase them away.

    A specialized device will not replace something that is easily printed. I have a printer and can use one of the many barcode replacements to fulfill my personal and small business needs. While their system definitely seems cooler, I'm betting that when it's released it would require a specialized device to encode the bokodes and another to affix them to the tagged item.

    That plus the fact you have to pay to become a developer and can only develop the apps on a mac (with mac hardware), so that is another financial hurdle. I seriously considered developing iphone apps, but probably of it being a waste of time and money was too high.
