Utilities are trying to get ready for EVs, as well as deal with the CO2. Problem is, they might pull out a 120 MW coal plant and put in a 500 MW nat gas. Considering that nat gas emits less than 1/2 of the CO2 of coal (per BTU) means that you can double, even come close to 3x increase and still emit less. But this is 4x up. Way too much.
We need to replace those old coal plants with nuclear power.
It is one thing to replace an old efficient coal plant with either new coal or a new nat gas, but it does no good when the size of these increase to the point where you are adding more CO2.
All nations have to stop this. Here in America, we need to push Nuclear SMRs into production SOON. NuScale is a perfect example. It will not be in production until 2025/6 timeframe. With some money (for both the company and NRC), it can be put into production by 2023. That would enable us to replace a number of these coal plants with cheaper/safer nuclear SMRS. Add in more solar/wind and geo-thermal, and we can shut this down.
The one good thing missing out of this report is that over the next couple of years, America will continue downwards due to EVs replacing old cars, along with the fact that our electricity is fairly clean.
Actually, gov tax breaks CAN increase hiring. However, if you remember the write-ups on it, The GOP gave bigger tax breaks for OFF-SHORE work, not on-shore. Want jobs to remain in America? THen we need to do the same thing as other nations and apply taxes preferentially to local work.
In particular, it gave more breaks for offshore operations, than on-shore. Yeah, Trump gave breaks on-shore, but bigger ones off.

Huawei is not only publically traded in China, but all their CHinese employees own stock in them. Of course, none of the foreign employees are given stock and more importantly,only CHinese are allowed to buy the stock on their market.

GM should be looking at Tesla. Musk is doing things right. And rather than claim that GM is better than Tesla (which they do all the time), they would be better to acknowledge that Tesla is destroying them, like the German's have, and then try to learn from tesla. Tesla's model Y, will likely be the most automated vehicle ever done. And knowing Musk, he has almost certainly disobeyed his board and is now designing the car to be much less expensive than the M3. Both in Design, and build.

Actually, CHina is going to stop building Nuke reactors in China. They have SERIOUS QA issues on theirs. Oddly, they will continue building for other nations, AND GE is now using Chinese manufacturing for their AP1000+ systems.
