Sounds about right. So I think my original post stands, and the GGP should stop letting ideology get in the way of seeing that FLAC support, far more so than OGG support (which was mentioned in the post I originally replied to), is about quality and not ideology. Though obviously wanting OGG support is about more than just ideology there is at least a viable alternative for lossy audio formats if I were to buy an iPod.
When you know ahead of time that Microsoft is going to sell a hundred million Xbox 360s with HD-DVD drives, you've suddenly overcome the most expensive part of the process of having consumers adopt a new technology without spending a cent.
Which makes two huge assumptions. 1) That Microsoft is going to include an HD-DVD drive in the 360, and 2) That Microsoft is going to sell anywhere near 100m units of XBox 360.
The first we already know not to be true. I'll assume we'll find out the same about the other sometime in the next two years until Microsoft shows me any reason to believe otherwise.
Lack of "standardization" hasn't stopped a lot of high end (much higher end than Adobe) app developers from porting to Linux or developing natively on it. I think it's much more likely that they don't have the balls to take a "risk" on porting it. The slightly less likely reason is that they don't have the skills, though one would think they could afford to bring people in who do if that were the problem.
Either way, I don't see why anyone should give a fuck about a "standardized" Linux that has anything to do with Adobe. They haven't done anything for us and I for one am definitely not interested in any standard that they're involved in without some solid support.
And for what it's worth, I'd be willing to buy Photoshop for Linux today if they offered it, assuming that they make the necessary UI changes to actually integrate with a Linux desktop, which running it under WINE (that does work for doing a lot of things) fails miserably at.
Comcast, at least here in Seattle, doesn't have an option without the TV package. I believe the price (and I could be off a few dollars, but the total after tax is 56.21$/month with modem rental) is 54.95$ for internet only (which has basic cable anyway) or is 44.95$ for internet if you subscribe to cable TV, with 10$/month for basic cable being the cheapest.
Which I guess would be at least a marginal deal if I wanted digital cable or something. But I don't even watch TV and there's no way to opt out of it that would save me any money.
I miss @HOME. I had exactly one down time (of about 5 minutes) in over a year with them (as opposed to fairly regular outages due to their network or their faulty hardware with Comcast) and it was only 39.95$/month for 10mbit/128kbit.
If you suddenly had a better alternative to paying $45 a month for your cable or DSL internet, you'd take the alternative.
Fuck that. I'd just like to be able to pay as little as 45$/month without a significant loss in speed. Is there anyone still paying that little for cable? Because my rates have been like ~53$ (before taxes) for most of the last two years.

Because vi has Real Ultimate Power! It's the super ninja of text editors. If you don't believe me you better get a life right away because I feel it in my terminal emulator.
If all you're looking at is the explanations of who everyone is and what is going on. I don't think there's anyway that you could get the real impact of some of the events in the film without having seen the series first.
I've got computers from 1980 that work perfectly in my basement, I'm willing to bet I'll still be able to find a computer that can play current DVDs with a working DVD-ROM in it 25 years from now.
And it's really ridiculous for them to be pushing so hard anyway. Someone's going to come along and crack this crap wide open like they do with all the DRM schemes and the only people it's going to end up hurting are those who are completely legit.
Seriously though, World of Evertux Galaxies would be an awesome game. Think of it, Massively Multiplayer Online Fighting Penguin Simulation!

Maybe when they stop relying on taxpayer-funded research and testing to develop these drugs that they patent.

XBox is HUGE!

Oh, good point. So what encodes Apple Lossless on Linux?
Don't forget no FLAC support.
Playing movie with Standard Battery and SanDisk 1G Memory Stick: 4.45 Hours.
Playing movie with Datel X2 Battery and Datel 4GB Hard Drive: 5.45 Hours.
Being able to play DVDs on Linux seems pretty productive and useful to me.
Where's the innovation in this though? You might think yourself a "business" person, but you're obviously not much of a thinker.

But why do you like Apple Jacks?

Watch the video demos, looks pretty professional to me.
The ones I hate the most are the ones not caught by my current privoxy setup. Though the ones you mention are a close second.
Yeah, but is the BBC going to be reporting it as news again tomorrow? That's right, I didn't think so!
It also can cause unstable performance with some themes and the file dialogs still neither make sense nor integrate well.
You'll be eating those words when I name my first child Information.
Do they have any functionality in windows? I tried plugging my cable into one but it doesn't have the right connector...
