What about making a MMORPG based on something more like a pickup game? Sorta like NFL Street or NBA Ballers.

  3. Re:Bad Analogy Time? on Digital Praise Takes Up Christian Gaming Cause · · Score: 2, Insightful

You make a good point about most games these days being either FPS or RTS. I think the reason for this is that those games are simply easier to come up with and produce. It is hard to be creative. But when someone does get creative it can pay off big time. I don't have the list but on the top ten selling games of all time there are many non-violent games. Games like The Sims and Tetris were very popular. America is still a very Puritan nation for better or worse. So even if most gamers aren't Christians or have no problem with gore and foul language, the people with the money do (I know there are exceptions, I'm talking in broad strokes here). So if you can tap into that market successfully, you can make a lot of money. For an example, even though its not a video game, look at The Passion. I think tha there is a longing in America for a rejection of the current moral decline, and if this company can tap into that they will be very successful.

  10. Re:ground rules on Movie-Licensed Games That Might Not Suck · · Score: 1

C'mon. This would never happen. The whole reason for releasing the game at the same time as the movie is that it doesn't have to be good. People will buy it anyway because of all the hype surrounding the movie. If the point of the gaming industry was to make good games then your plan would work. But the gaming industry is only worried about making money. Every once in a while the consumers get lucky and they will release a good game, but if they don't have to spend the time and money developing one, they won't.

I agree with you that they are both important, but for me gameplay is still much more important than graphics. IMO, its much easier to find a fun game with good gameplay and poor graphics than the opposite.

This is where we are going to have to agree to disagree. You believe that evolution is true. I believe that an omnipotent being could create anything he wanted, even a world where evolution appears to be true. Therefore, I believe that it is ambiguous and uncertain. For me to assume to know the mind of God, would be absurd. If I could, he wouldn't be God. For the record, I don't really have an opinion on evolution. It's just not important to me. But even if it is true that doesn't mean that if God exists he couldn't have guided it.
