You make a good point about most games these days being either FPS or RTS. I think the reason for this is that those games are simply easier to come up with and produce. It is hard to be creative. But when someone does get creative it can pay off big time. I don't have the list but on the top ten selling games of all time there are many non-violent games. Games like The Sims and Tetris were very popular.
America is still a very Puritan nation for better or worse. So even if most gamers aren't Christians or have no problem with gore and foul language, the people with the money do (I know there are exceptions, I'm talking in broad strokes here). So if you can tap into that market successfully, you can make a lot of money. For an example, even though its not a video game, look at The Passion. I think tha there is a longing in America for a rejection of the current moral decline, and if this company can tap into that they will be very successful.
As someone who really enjoyed the gameplay of GTA3, but didn't care for all the violence, I'm really looking forward to this game. This is something that I would be able to let my daughter play.
Anyone looking for a Sharkport should check Toys 'R Us. I found one there the other day on clearance for $15. They had more too so maybe other stores will have some too.
C'mon. This would never happen. The whole reason for releasing the game at the same time as the movie is that it doesn't have to be good. People will buy it anyway because of all the hype surrounding the movie. If the point of the gaming industry was to make good games then your plan would work. But the gaming industry is only worried about making money. Every once in a while the consumers get lucky and they will release a good game, but if they don't have to spend the time and money developing one, they won't.
I agree with you that they are both important, but for me gameplay is still much more important than graphics. IMO, its much easier to find a fun game with good gameplay and poor graphics than the opposite.
I never played the first one but SH2 was the scariest game/movie I've ever experienced. My wife and I played it together because neither one of us wanted to be alone when we played. The sounds were just awesome
You're absolutely right. When I get together with my friends and we decide to play a board game its not about proving who is the best at whatever. Its about having fun and giving us something to do when those natural dead spaces in conversation occur.
This is where we are going to have to agree to disagree. You believe that evolution is true. I believe that an omnipotent being could create anything he wanted, even a world where evolution appears to be true. Therefore, I believe that it is ambiguous and uncertain. For me to assume to know the mind of God, would be absurd. If I could, he wouldn't be God.
For the record, I don't really have an opinion on evolution. It's just not important to me. But even if it is true that doesn't mean that if God exists he couldn't have guided it.
I've said the same thing. There is really no one to identify with in the prequels and that's why people don't get wrapped up in them as much, at least that's my opinion.
I thought it was pretty good. Of course, I remember seeing it when I was still in elemetary school. I still think the idea of having a man-to-man fight to decide wars is an interesting one. I'm not sure if they came up with it for that movie or not, but that's where I first saw it.
What about making a MMORPG based on something more like a pickup game? Sorta like NFL Street or NBA Ballers.
That's not entirely true. This links to Structure and Interpretation of Computer Programs (aka the wizard book) free to d/l in HTML.

"wait till you try a little simultaneous VJ action!"
9.5% in Fayetteville, AR. For what, I have no idea.
Don't forget Flea from Crono trigger.

Thanks for the carpal tunnel syndrome Famicon! I never could have gotten it without you.

Congratulations! I'm awaiting my first right now. Six more weeks of sleep!
Dijkstra himself said, "Computer Science is no more about the computer than Astronomy is about the telescope."
Wouldn't the term USA or even just US be just as good? This doesn't explain the need to change to USia for me.

How does this not get modded down as flaimbait? Everyone who has beliefs different from your's is stupid? Talk about intolerance.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who read that with the agent's voice in my head.
If only I had mod points. That was hilarious.
Indeed. This seems ripe to be a comedy gold mine of epic proportions, yet, as the cliche goes, I got nothing.
In Soviet Russia, flies....do something to you. Servers...lights. I don't know, leave me alone.
