  1. Evolutionist propaganda on HMS Beagle (Possibly) Found · · Score: 5, Funny

Any right thinking Christian in this country knows that the whole Beagle voyage was a scam. There was no Beagle, Darwin was a heretic ponce at best, 'evilution' (sick) is self masturbation by atheists.

There can only be one nation under God. And if gays are allowed to marry, we might start a backwards evolution into snails and other amoral beings.

Thank you, amen and God bless America, Christian science and the GOP.

  2. Danger Mouse, supaproducer on Backlash as EMI Hunts Down the Grey Album · · Score: 2, Interesting

Danger Mouse released the best hip-hop album of 2003, 'Ghetto pop-life', together with Jemini the gifted. If you're at all interested in hip-hop, get this album!

It was released on Lex records in the UK. The climate for intelligent hip-hop in the US is currently non-existant, but the UK is still going strong. Since Lex is a sublabel (almost) of Warp records, you can download the 'Ghetto pop life' from the Bleep site in high quality mp3.

  3. This is a good thing on Comcast Wants To Buy Disney For $66 Billion · · Score: -1, Redundant

There are far too many media companies to relate to these days. Impossible to know where their allegiances are. With only two or three, we can easily know their bias.

The consumers always win when the big players are consolidating.

  4. Re:Super sweet on Mozilla Firebird gets .8 Release, and New Name · · Score: 1

Ah, thanks. Embarrasing :) The smooth scrolling option didn't do anything in the previous version I had. It's still quite jerky though.

  5. Re:Super sweet on Mozilla Firebird gets .8 Release, and New Name · · Score: 1

Nah, this isn't stupid eyecandy. It's actually very useful. It doesn't slow down the scrolling either. Perfect if you want to skim through a long text.

  6. Re:Super sweet on Mozilla Firebird gets .8 Release, and New Name · · Score: 2, Insightful

Yep, that's not what I want. But I want the scrolling to be smooth, so that I can read while scrolling. Scrolling a discrete number of lines makes the scrolling jerky and unreadable. Just compare scrolling in IE and Mozilla.

  7. Super sweet on Mozilla Firebird gets .8 Release, and New Name · · Score: 2, Insightful

It's getting better all the time. The only thing I miss from Opera and IE in Firefox is the ability so smoothly scroll while pressing my mousewheel.

Anybody know why they insist on scrolling at least one line at a time?

  8. Re:Aww... on Jobs to India -- A Broad Look · · Score: 1

I agree with some of what you say, but my main point is that US citizens are voting, and have been for decades, for politicians which are aggressivly pushing free markets and globalization. Some of the effects of this are lowered profits for US steel companies, and outsourcing of jobs to India. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

That said, I am for globalization.. it's only natural in the long run. I also think that workers everywhere should be compensated fairly for their work. With time, things will hopefully even out and globalization should lead to heightened living standards everywhere. India is a good example of this already happening. And yes, we must try to set standards for human rights and enforce them.

Corporations shouldn't be relied on to consider the benefits of either foreign or domestic workers. They must be forced to follow the rules of society, and these rules must and probably will be harmonized throughout the world in the long run.

In anything but the very long run, this will lead to lowered standards of living in the US. Indians don't drive around in excessivly wasteful three ton vehicles, and can make a good living on earning less (car quality is one the most important metrics for quality of life in the US, for some bizarre reason). Jobs can't be kept domestically to force an artificially high standard of living compared to the rest of the world.

  9. Aww... on Jobs to India -- A Broad Look · · Score: 1

Globalisation is a bitch when it threatens your job?

Don't whine. Get with the program. Indians deserve jobs too. If you want their job, then accept their pay.

  24. Re:See no evil, hear no evil... on Saddam Hussein Arrested · · Score: 1

I didn't claim it was just about WMD, now did I? I did say that these claims were baseless, but even if they are not it doesn't change the fact that this war is not an altruistic act like so many Americans believe.

If it really was, then why Iraq? Why now? And what next? No, this war like so many conflicts before it are based solely upon national interests. If the Iraqis were freed in the process, then that is a bonus, but claiming that the main goal all along was to help the Iraqi people is a blatant lie.

And why do you figure that I'm disappointed that Saddam is captured? I haven't seen anybody else who've said that either (not that it matters for my argument here). You must be one of those that argue that the president is above criticism in a 'time of crisis'.
