That'd be Kelvin (K). And there is no negative degree on the Kelvin scale. 0 degrees Kelvin would be absolute zero (the lowest possible temperature (same with the Rankine scale)).
In Celcius that equals about -273.
I already own 5 different copies* of the trilogy, what is one more?:(
*Original Pre-THX Widescreen, THX Pan and Scan (this one gets watched the most), THX Widescreen, 1997 Special Edition Widescreen, Re-release of 1997 SE Widescreen:(:(:(:(:(
This will also be useful at trade shows and at computer stores. Keep sneaky people from plugging in devices and pulling stuff off the computer while no one is looking! Or loading stuff onto it as well..
NASA should put this on the next rover missions to Mars, or future missions to the Moon! It could eat flies and not have to depend only on solar and battery power! Yeah!
And any ET's that happen upon a DNA stash would probably be very wary of bringing it back to life.
Unless they're like us!
Jurassic Park 4, anyone? Aliens setup a park to show an extinct race, but when the power fails, the extinct race starts climbing over the walls and killing... each other! 4 billion years in the making!
Of course, they could probably just load the DNA into Random ET Super Computer, hit the "Go" button, and watch it all unfold in a computer simulation with x number of outcomes. Hmm.
Someone posted this in another story a while back. It's a guide to convert a SNES controller to work on a PC. Although it'd be easier to just buy a converter for it (although not near as geeky). Is there a company that sells a converter for it?
I'd really like a Gamecube -> USB converter myself (or Dreamcast). Both of those controllers are the most comfortable I've ever held!
Give them a two weeks notice and use that two weeks to start taking the comments out of your code!
Or make sure you have some hardware at home that belongs to them. If you're in good with certain people, you might get to keep it. I got to keep a laptop (dead now), an iPaq, and a pretty decent monitor that I had borrowed. Of course, I was laid off, maybe they we're trying to avoid an incident (it wasn't Friday, after all).
It's not art just because you don't like it. What about slinging your brush and dripping paint on a giant canvas? Would you consider that art or not (Jackson Pollock)?
I shouldn't even bother clicking the Developers link anymore. Besides not being a developer, usually the stories that don't make the front page have more acronyms in them than an AIM conversation between two adolescent teens.
I do like to try and stay informed, and I'm sure the story is fascinating, but I just don't get it.:)
When I worked at a local burger joint many years ago, people could tell just by looking at my hair where I had been for the past few hours.:) My hair was all greasy and clumped together, and probably had the occasional french fry or onion ring sticking out of it.
What about people who work in loud factories? Maybe the ones that are loud enough to warrant some kind of earplugs?
Also, The lungs may essentially start to vibrate in the same frequency as the bass, which could cause a lung to rupture.
So can we find out what the natural frequency is of human lungs and maybe keep things (speakers) from emitting anything in that frequency to keep the lungs from resonating and then collapsing (like the Tacoma Narrows Bridge)? Or do the lungs just pickup whatever frequency and go with it?
But then you're stuck carrying around the Firewire or USB cable that comes with the iPod. And as you mentioned, with the right drivers. It's best to have somethning that will plug in and work, even on a new computer.
I would think the USB key devices would be best for what you're wanting to do, but I've never used one.
I live in a big metropolitan area (DFW), and two years ago during the Leonids, I had to drive about an hour and a half out to see them really well (there was also a full moon during the shower, which sucked). So I suggest if you're in a big city, head for the country.
This should be a pretty good show, though. While we won't have a new moon (different from full moon) on the 12th, it'll be damn close. Plus, in this area, the moon will be below the horizon until around 3:30am. I can't wait (and I'm sure I'll be a zombie at work the next day, too)!
I didn't say you weren't.:) I don't know if it's feasible or not, I'm not a patent expert. But really, what could you do with a patent on the Higgs? Or like you said earlier, a patent on dihydrogen monoxide (water)? What do these guys with the patent on certain genes do? Keep people from doing research when it involves "their" gene?

I'll buy it!

Why are you trying to bash Microsoft just because they decided to delay or abandon something?
/. afterall. :)
Do I really have to lay it out for you? It is

Wait...

Yes, it's art.

Yeah. They got shut down.

Whoa, cowboy. Put that metal grating back on your microwave and quit using it to mod your new G5.
Someone get to a local Starbucks with this, fast! Oh, and bring your camera!
I'm not sure what the average weight of vaccums are, but looking at my hand-me-down, just one would add an easy 50 pounds.
We have observed a clear, strong signal for asymmetrical behavior By observing they changed the outcome of their experiment! ;)
Football? Er? Is this like the EverQuest or Galaxies for those people who used to beat me up? Is that why they took my lunch money?

Woo! Sign me up.
Again, I am being quite serious

I didn't say you weren't.
For the non-physicists: "Could I patent mass?"
Hmm, ideas for SCO.
HP said Tuesday it will be the first major PC maker
While PC stands for personal computer and can mean a wide variety of things, it usually means things that != Apple.
