    stop with the -killer suffix?

I haven't seen a Ford-Mustang-killer, or a Conair-hairdryer-killer, or an Pepsi-Cola-killer, or an Boeing-Airbus-500-killer before. Why is the information industry the only industry with goddamn KILLER APPLICATIONS or <FOOBAR>-KILLERS? No fucking wonder citizens and customers think software and hardware manufacturer are even less funny than Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck. </rant>

Beauty is in the eye of the culture. I wonder if you asked a native African man if a French, anorexic catwalk model was beautiful, would he say yes or no? I grew up in Germany and I would say: "Yes, in a tragic way she is beautiful," because that's the beauty ideals of the late 80s and early 90s I grew up with. Would a Nipponese agree with me? What about an Indian?

Oh, stop it already. That story of the mom in line to pick up a brand-spanking new console for her kid is a hasty generalization at best.

Why don't you think of the hard working widower Dad that needs to work 12 hours a day to pay for his Son's cancer treatment and wants to make his son's life more cheerful by buying him a PS3 from eBay because that's the only place he can get his hands on one?

Won't someone think of the fallacy?

  11. Re:linux / wine noob question, pls help on Public Betas For CrossOver Mac and Linux · · Score: 1

Music studio software requires the lowest audio latency possible. You can achieve low latency by circumventing the built-in sound system in Windows using ASIO or Jack under Linux. One small problem with the Linux kernel is that its task scheduler isn't exactly optimized for low latency work. But, people have contributed to the kernel to make low-latency audio feasible (Con Kolivas, Ingo Molnar, et al.) so that issue is becoming less and less important.

While I think that Wine is able to run those audio apps, I don't think it has implemented interfaces for ASIO and other low-latency sound APIs. Give it a try and report back to the Wine Application Database on WineHQ.
