Bloody hell man, you should have been modded funny. Listen to yourself. Communist governments spend vast sums of nonexistant money, they tend to create an elite "politburo" class of elite rich while everyone else remains poor, they begin wars and conquor countries to control resources they otherwise wouldn't have and couldn't afford
The only difference between what you said and America today is the fact they can afford it (though some might disagree with that), and China cant, though some will disagree with that in the not too distant future. America has sure launched wars over resources they dont have enough of.
and they promote lies in schools that run contrary to science and evidence.
Intelligent Design in the science classroom anyone?
The parent poster said pseudo-communist, and there aint much difference between these examples.
It is a small percentage, granted. But it is interesting that Belnheim is small town of around 30,000 people, so producing 1 million litres from such a small population can be useful when scaled up to 4 million people (the population of NZ).
I say good on them, its good seeing some real innovation in alternative fuel production. Its not going to solve the worlds energy problems, but all contributions to that lofty goal are worth it.
There should be more focus on developing websites to be compatible with smaller screens than desktop monitors. How many times have people tried to view some useful website on their PDA or cellphone or other small screened device, only to have it practically unusable due to formatting issues with such a small screen real estate.
There is a far higher need for small screen compatability than large screens due to the fact that a bigger screen does not screw up formatting, and therefore is not an issue for the user.
hydro dams regulate water flow due to demand. At night, when the demand goes low, so does water usage as control gates regulate the water flow. So no water is actually wasted except during times when the lake overflows via the spillway due to excess water.
Assinating bin Laden would not be in the current Administration's best interests. If bin Laden was dead, then how would the 'eternal war' (thanks Orwell) continue when no other militant currently has the 'boogey man' status as bin Laden does?
Seriously, if the US really wanted bin Laden dead, they could do it. Enough troops and survailence would locate him, and then its simply a matter of munitions.
One feature id really like to see firefox support is download resuming. Adding Getright-like features to the download manager would be a great feature. There isnt even an extention available to do this....
You are an absolute imbecile. NOT ALL VICTIMS ARE RAPING LOOTING MURDERING CRIMINALS. These are helpless suffering people, everyday people. Where is your compassion! These people are left without aid. Your own people for fuck sake. This is the biggest natural disaster to hit the US, and one of its biggest discraces.
The rest of the world looks upon this all and are absolutely stunned that the government and people are doing squat to help. Why on earth isnt there a mass airlift to drop supplies to the hospitals and desperate people living in barbaric conditions. You send all these armed soldiers to shoot looters inseat. No supplies, no water, no food, nothing.
Shame on you America.
The reason for LFs's existance is for learning. People who are wanting to learn the internal workings of a linux system would be well served by this distro/book. Its an excellent way to see how every aspect of a linux system runs and is built. You build every stage of it, and its fun to boot.
I think a Kiwi is part of the coding team, as when you go the the connection settings part of the options dialog, you will see" Example: mozilla.org,.net.nz" for the No Proxy for section.
btw, im in ChCh, NZ
I wonder if this delay is due to Intel not keeping a lid on the enormous power consumption of the Prescott core at 4GHz? Heat and power is a major issue with these high end chips, and it makes one wonder if Moore's law will finally be halted due to heat issues.
Just what we need, more usage of the 2.4GHz spectrum, as if its not used enough. We need more unlicenced spectrum set aside for the ever increasing amount of wireless devices. 2.4 is pretty much saturated in most populated areas.
I tried it also on a fujitsu 10GB drive and got another 8GB of space. this is damn impressive...
i formatted the new partition with bad sector checks, and all came up fine. ive verified the data on the new partition, and all looks good.
very impressive.
How about using a computer emulating a simple line printer, and storing the "printed" data onto its HDD. being connected via the parallel port as an output only device, its pretty much secure. No paper/ink issues.
Give them the cash. Cash bonuses to workers are not too uncommon, and no employee will ever complain about a cash bonus. Plus, they get to spend it how they see fit, and would be better than a single type of bonus. Id reccommend cash, the more the merrier.
On a side note, bloody good on you for giving them a bonus.
Its only a matter of time before the RIAA will destroy the usability of Kazaa and other popular P2p networks. What we need is a truly anonymous P2P network with the same ease of use, ease of searching and ease of retreival, that current P2P networks currently provide. When the mainstream users of Kazaa move away from that network, we need a network thats truly anonymous. We are currently seeing a very real decline in peoples rights and freedoms, especially in America. The people around the world need a place on the net where we can communicate and share without fear of censorship, jail, corporate greed and in some countries, death.
Freenet is definitely a step in the right direction, but it is a cumbersome network to use, and not very user friendly to the masses. Is there any other networks that im not aware of that tries to fufill this current need? For where shall the massses turn to when Kazaa is strangled to death?
I find it quite disturbing that the EWeek article comes across as if linux does have SCO's IP in it, while this has still yet to be proved. It does state in the end of the article that the FSF and other org's say that nobody should buy a licence, but the impression of the article is just wrong. It is generally accepted that SCO's claims are nothing but fluff, and there is mounting evidence against their claims, but SCO seems to be hell bent on causing anarchy and getting brought out by IBM.
But the slant of the article is sending the wrong sort of message.
yeah i see your point, but kids at that age will constantly pester their parents into buying them that CD, and never underestimate the power of a screaming tantrum throwing kid at that age... The parents arguments on how the reality is that the RIAA is just plain evil will fall on deaf ears, the kid will neither really understand nor care. And of course, parents would always want their kids to have the latest and cool in product/music of the month. Just look at how popular those Tamagotchies (sp) got (those little keyring virtual pets)..they were a huge late 90's fad, and no kid was cool without one (just an example). Its the same with the current fad of pop trash that gets played on mainstream radio. Kids, especially at a very impressionable age, are a huge market, and easily swayed by advertising.
no major boycot will ever happen. the RIAA's main target audience is the pre-teen and early teen market. Just look at typical radio play pop trash (brit, justin, any other boy bands blah blah blah).
This market is not concerned with the RIAA's online activities and other shady deals, all that market is concerned about is whos the hottest boy/girl on the radio/tv. And thats the market which sells better than all others. eg, Bratney Spears has sold millions and millions of albums, and all because shes so talented? Laughable.
Well, looking at the system, alot of work has been put into the design. Obviously, this gaming system wont go mainstream, but its definitely of interest to geeks. The only downside i can see is the low specs of the hardware, and the fact that the games will be somewhat akin to the games of the late 80's. (68HC12 micro, and an atari/c64/appleII like graphics system can only go so far). Expansion has been very well thought out and thats where this system shines. While retro gaming is having something of a comeback, im not sure if it will be a hit or not. Definitely interesting though.
The main problem is cost, size, weight, and probably battery life. Sure, a small toshiba HDD will give you tons of space, but the physical size and weight of the HDD alone would be a put off. Then theres the added cost (though youll save on not having to buy FLASH based cards, but they are cheap compared to a 1.8" HDD anyway). Pocket PC PDA's are expensive enough, an added HDD would make it avaliable only to the financially endowed.
Im not sure the idea of moving a cursor by moving your finger on a small touchpad is the most efficient idea, UI wise. It seems too ungainly, and a pain to use. Touchpads are not as good as a mouse, especially a small one. The only easy way to interface is to touch the screen on the front.
Though im not sure how one gets around entering text easily...our current ways of using a stylus, moving a cursor, or pressing tiny keyboard buttons just to enter in some words just doesnt cut it. There has to be an easier and more efficient way of doing this.
Its a nice sounding idea, and in a perfect world it would be possible. But who is going to pay for this? There are huge costs involved in building the infrastructure to connect everyones devices together. Sure you can have ad-hoc networks to connect physically close groups together, but intercity and international links dont work that way. Someone has to own and pay for the backbones, servers and all other required infrastructure. There is no buisness model for this to work, and the world revolves around buisness models.
Bloody hell man, you should have been modded funny. Listen to yourself.
