In addition to all that crap, someone might start thinking about computers that don't use binary. There must be a way to use more states than just on/off. Optics might be good for this... get a few colors together and you've got a base-10 switch.

You've sort of hit on it there, task switching and multitasking aren't exactly the same thing. Try to sing and play bass simultaneously, now THAT's truly multitasking (and I'd add, damn near impossible, at least for me).
I think, yes. I took a COBOL class long ago, I hated it.. so bad that I really just didn't get the language at all. I was surprised, as the other classes that I had taken at the time (mostly C), made perfect sense. I was all OMG WTF LOL COBOL BBQ if you get my meaning.
He should be embarrased for charging $800. If he was nice, he should have taken one look at that Win98 computer and said "go spend $600 on a current PC". End of transaction.
You are in luck, He's an AWFUL singer, his music is terrible. I can't imagine his acting is worse. I'd rather sit through Johnny Mneumonic twice more than have to listen to that crap.

That's only open source stuff at Freshmeat. If MS service packs and Quicktime are front page worthy, you'd think they'd include that stuff too. The kernel release too, for that matter.
Actually an entirely separate front page section with recent software releases would be a pretty cool thing. Certainly a dot-something release of Quicktime is of questionable newsworthiness.
Man will the ladies be impressed if I bring one of these bad boys to a party... where can I get one? I'll just build it myself! They'll be extra impressed.
But if you read the article, they were arrested for sharing very specific items, namely an Nintendo game and a feature film. That is piracy, regardless of the p2p enabler.
Also, although IANACL isn't copyright violation a crime? So I can just violate copyrights willy nilly and get away with it until I'm slapped with a civil suit?

And these folks were arrested for it. I don't see why this is news.
My point exactly.. reasonably confident doesn't cut it.
Doesn't sound all that great to me... I'm reasonably confident that this is the first post too.
