I don't care if we did it, we know better and so do they, just because we did in the past doesn't me they have the right to now.

And if you want to drop CO2 levels just fucking rise the price of oil, if the price per barrle goes up a dollar a year minimum expect alternitives to be found fast. But of course that will never happen as USA has the oil lobbiest and the world has OPEC or however you spell it.

In any given european country your really do have lots of people who speak other languages so it amkes sense. I'm not syaing that no country should do it, i'm saying that it doesn't make any sense for people in BC alberta, yukon and other provinces to be forced to do it.

"It's not required by any law" is how it should be, don't force the manufacturer to put french on the label. Let them decide if its needed or not and restrict the law to qebec.

The states also does it to i think (at least with signs), but only in the south for people who speak spanish. A better way to look at the law in cananda is it would be like the states saying every product must have spanish on it bceause there are a lot of spanish speaking people in the south.

And that all our labels have french on them thou i don't know ANYONE who speaks it, let alone only it. (i'm in BC), i hate it how the minority of the country can dictate that EVERYONE has to see that god damn french language everyday on everything.

Thus i and my friends say "Fucking french!"

also offtopic i remember reading somewhere that qubec is on life support from the other provinces, ie without the rest of cananda paying for it expenses it would be bankrupt. Not sure if thats correct as stat can doesn't have spending/revenue on a province by province basis.

Now if it was a company with a contract with microsoft allowing X copies to be run on X computers they would be breaking a contract, and that is breaking the law.

and if he copied the CD copyright law would be broken. But by running windows on 4 computers and not 4, i don't think hes breaking any REAL law and MS knows this, hence why they will never test their license agreement (thats probley unlawful its self)

i See the problem here this license thing. I don't wna to license something, i want to OWN it. Just like music (lets forget ripping and P2P here), a CD is yours to use on any device, sell giveaway ect. What makes windows, or any software for that matter, so special??

i'm ignoring mission critical stuff, Don't run untrusted software on that. but then isn't it a given they are regulated by their own industries, Anytime safty is involved its almost always regulated already. planes - FCC, military - DOD, power stations - DOE, ect. You get the point.

But you are missing the point i was makeing, software, plain old software doesn't need to be regulated at all. Look further down and you'll see someone else say my point better.

Now about my point about thigns not working and who cares:
If some random software solution doesn't work, fails, is undocumented, and doesn't have any support, isn't updates ect, no ones going to use it. They will use an alternitive that does have these things, or someone will most likly write something that does work, is documented and maybe even supported. Might be free, might not be.

Now to opensource (witch you braught up btw) if all open source applications where like that (and some are) no one would be switching to it, most aren't like that so people are switching. And with opensource YOU can either fix it yourself or hire someone to.

look at all the little applications, small things you can find all over the place, apps that do random (sometimes stupid and pointless) things. students playing around. People experimenting. There is fair bit of software where people just write it for fun and then forget about it. If something like that screws up and doesn't work, oh well. Thres no reason for the author to go back and fix something he did years back.

If it does damage the computer in anyway (wipes HD or OS) its a horrible program and probally won't be used long or often either, would be calssified as a virus.
i was very vauge with " their fault for not backing up their data", by that i was talking about if you use some editor and save to a file and it wipes the file and you lose all your work, shame on you for not keeping backups. I find applications that screw up thigns all the time. Alot of them are commercial closed source to (not to say opensource ones are anybetter or worse).

My point was regulateing software industry on a whole for whatever reason is BAD and is NOT needed. Nothing else. I may have done it in a very bad way, see the other guys post who did a much better job of it.

Oh and i'd have to say YOUR the ones whos being completely unprofessional.
