There are alot of things you CAN do with a windows box (ghosting for instance) that you need to buy software for most of the time, but then with linux you get the same tools and abilities for free and built in.
And wouldn't a total lack of copyrights or patents drive inovation up as everyone tried to have the newest and best to get the consumers $$?
Like companies and people would be tring their damnest to have the newest feature/ability/whatever so ppl buy their machine instead of sitting on whatever they could deisng and build thus foriceing inovation into overdrive?
or even short protection sof 2-4 years, wouldn't that really help it along? even without protections someone has to make it and someones has to sell what the people want and will buy
well not really... any (well most) MP3/audio player will have a buffer that is Xseconds of uncompressed audio, and the player will uncompress the file and write to the buffer and the buffer will be played.
for winamp i have the buffer set to 4seconds and the total ram useage with winamp playing anything is 15megs.
only religion hat i know of thats comming under fire here is pologomy.
Gun laws are ok, you can get handguns/rifles if you get the permit (not easy) but no assult rifles.
Not sure about the rules for carrying guns aroud but i think in the city its pretty strict. But i know a entire family (dad, mom, son daughter) that have their firearms permits, and the mom has her restricted (handguns).
aside from the fact assult rifles are outlawed i don't see any problems with the current laws?
hmmm, SOOOO i could fire a women bceause she likes to wear skirts?
or an olde rperson bceause the dont' like rock?
or a disable person because they don't like sports?
Hell if thats true then you can fire whoever the fuck youw ant for whatever stange reason as long as its not for those mandated protected class reasons. But you can still fire them because you thaught up some other reason??
Thou i think you should beable to hire/fire whoever you want for whatever reason you want, if you own the corp, i mean hey its your money!
yes, but banning SUVS isn't the way to go. Hell taxing them isn't either.
The source of the problem: CO2 from burning gas. So rise fuel taxes, pure and simple. if gas cost $2 a L (5$ a gallon) how much do you want to bet poeple would buy fuel efficent cars?
pass something that says gas taxes will be rised XX cents every month for X years to a ifnal tax of Y. That way people know tis comming and have time to adjust.
That is how the goverment should step in. If it should. and with NO exceptions to the taxes. thou migth be bad for the economy and lots of people, but ah well. such is the cost of progress i guess?
Google uses the HTML they way they do to save everybyte, notice in their source 1 char var names, its designed to be small and simple to save bandwidth, save 10 bytes from 100,000,000 million hits thats 10,000,000 bytes, ~9-10 gb?
also it always looks right no matter what your useing so its all good.
And i think that alone will prevent cells from takeing over the PC market... Or being used for anything aside from embedded deviced and consoles.
People get mad when they can no longer do something they used to (or want to). And alot of people are VERY used to being able to rip music games and video, or hell even create video, tinker, hardware/software hack, whatever.
The current copy protection most likely doesn't get people up in arms because theres nothign that can't be beaten yet.. any game can be copied, and music is even easier. And if you dont' know hwo to copy it someone does and its on the net for you to download.
winmx still lives, last beta was released on the 13 of dec http://www.winmx.com/beta/beta354.html

Frontcode is very slow with updates but they do come eventually.
But thats their problem in assumeing thbis
just like how the cable companies assume you won't be useing all that badnwidth they advertised to you...
umm shouldn't the application doing the printing be putting that in?
rar has all and every feature you'd want, 7z and maybe bzip2 offer slighty better compression (not much diff at all) but lack the features rar does.

I'm searching the WORLD WIDE WEB here not the canadian web. Sometimes its usefull but for the most part i find it a pain.
You needed to be modded down to hell.

err 1,000,000,000 bytes, and i did the rest of my math wrong to lol
1 000 000 000 bytes = 953.674316 megabytes thanks to google for that calculation:)
And i'm sure proper (readable) HTML would be more then 10 bytes.
Google uses the HTML they way they do to save everybyte, notice in their source 1 char var names, its designed to be small and simple to save bandwidth, save 10 bytes from 100,000,000 million hits thats 10,000,000 bytes, ~9-10 gb?
