at last check God was able to create the earth with all geological structures intact (a lived in earth) as well as lifeforms essentially from nothing. why does it seem implausible to some that these things were created in a way that made them indistinguishable from an object that formed (in the case of geology) or evolved (in the case or creatures) over long periods of time? if you make the assumption that God has this ability--and why shouldn't He, He is God after all--then shouldn't man be able to study geology and biology by essentially treating the time in question as a black box? regardless of how the black box operates, we still end up with the same result.

in the end it just makes the ID folk sound arrogant yet ignorant and the scifolk right but possibly right for the wrong reasons (depending on what you believe, what really happens when we die).

to me it just seems that claiming that "leaps" in evolution must exists to prove that God had a hand in it seems to claim a God of lessor power than i believe in. my God is smart enough to create the illusion of millions of years of geological processes and evolution--shouldn't your God be this powerful too?

"isn't there an expectation that, if you're in a public area, you're fair game for being photographed?"

that's what i thought too, but last night i was arrested for snapping a photo in a mall here in the states. the security guard stated that the storefronts were copyrighted (though no storefront was visible in the photo) and called his superiors. his superiors called the police. the police stated that i violated trademark law, arrested me, and took my id and camera phone. the officer said he was going to keep the phone as evidence of my trademark violations but changed his mind several minutes later and returned the phone after he deleted the photos that were on it. the officer said that if someone didn't want you to take their picture (even if they didn't object before or during the photographing process) then the photo is illegal. how exactly someone's objection pertains to copyright and trademark (can i trademark my face?), i do not know. and before anyone asks, these were taken in the open in the public area of the mall. what was photographed was plainly visible to at least 4 or 5 people of mixed sexes. and there was no situation that was out of the ordinary that should cause embarrassment to anyone that was in the photo. does anyone know the laws that pertain to photographing subjects in public?

yet i have returned an e-machines laptop because of this. it wasn't the color that really bothered my, it was the leds intensity. the led was positioned right below the screen and was the equivalent of having a very bright flashlight shining in your eyes as you worked. for some reason, i just didn't enjoy the thought of only using the upper left quadrant of the screen to work on a brand new laptop.

the consumer should not have to modify his hardware (and likely void his warranty) just to make a device usable. and no, i am not walking around with duct tape on a brand new laptop. the replacement for this laptop can from a much more led considerate vendor.
