Very good point! I was getting ready to post the same thing, so I am glad I spotted your post before I got myself modded -1 redundant. Lets face, RIAA is a crybaby trying to have mommy ( US Gov ) keep its sinking boat of a business model from going underwater. Too late, it has already hit an iceberg and nothing can save it. RIAA-tanic, anyone?
Kudos to you for standing up for what the Internet was created for - the open exchange of information between any two nodes. Unless an entity ( person, group ) is being problematic, their communications should not be restricted at all by third parties. I can't remember the RFC that specified this, but I will hunt it down a bit later and post it. Too many people have forgotten it or have never read this document from the DARPANET-era, but they should.
Keep voting with your dollars, it's the only language corporations seem to understand.
Not true, I have run my domain mail server for several years ( since '98 ), and before switching from DSL to Cable ( Comcast ) , I asked if they had a problem with me running my own SMTP/POP3/Web servers over their connection, and they said no. Not only that, I have it in writing, so they'd better not try and renig on our agreement.
7. Writing the password down on a yellow sticky note and sticking it to the keyboard is more secure than sticking it on the monitor. - Debunked, we found that hackers generally look for sticky notes in both places, in addition, they will sometimes look under the keyboard and in the top drawer of cubicle desk.
OS? There is an OS on my system? I'll trade you a couple of Corona Light brewskies to get this OS thingy off of my hard drive square beige box looking thingamabob. Thx.
True. I got hooked on espresso ( plain old shot glass serving of the dark stuff ) when I was in Italy during an military tour. Everyone would have espesso after meals, and whenever visting someone's house. I don't know how they did it. I would get the 'shakes' from drinking as much as the Italians did, but they were all calm and would ask me if I wanted another, lol.
Anyway, now I have it several times a day, and even grind my own coffee. Its an addiction I don't want to shake though, maybe smokers feel the same way, I don't know. What I do know is my friends who smoke tell me not to start because of how addictive it is.
Definitely. I was 8 years old at the time, and watched it 12 times IN THE THEATERS, that doesn't count the number of times I watched it on Cable TV when it would play 6 times a day. No other movie has gotten me to do that again, none. LOTR:Two Towers and the The Matrix come close, but that is about it.
I was thinking more along the lines of "Jedinator 3". It will have the same level of quality as a similarly-titled movie, *and* will probably do as well at the box office. You can take my meaning of 'well' however you please.:)
>A source close to the company said Microsoft >entered the Wi-Fi field with hopes of "raising the >bar" on security, ease-of-use and performance and >now feels it has accomplished those goals.
Actually Microsoft did "raise the bar". They made a WiFi product line with built in security. Then they held a developer press conference and said "See these WiFI products? See how we implemented security in them? Good. Now don't do anything we did and your product will be secure."
Here's a thought. What if the virus writer writes the virus for educationaly reasons, but doesn't give it to anyone. And later someone finds it and lets it loose, cause damage to a bazillion computers. Who is responsible then?
LOL! Tell me about it. I think the editor should have left that part of the post out. Who does he think he is, anyway? Salon.com?
While I realize many people like to pimp their websites, that comment was just a little to blatant. That said, I hope the IPO filing goes through ok, as I will probably be in line to get some Google stock.
Don't feel bad, I actually like the Mortal Combat movie (the first one ).I don't how they managed screwed up the sequel so badly, but they did. Resident Evil was good enough I watched it several times, and Tomb Raider 1 is also worth watching.
I have seen this at work, too. People are under a lot of pressure to get their job done ( my company has been downsizing for quiet a while, everyone is scared for their job ), so then an unrequested popup appears they most likely will click on whatever gets rid of it most quickly so that they can get back to work. With their manager hounding them every few minutes about how important it is to get an new custemer order completed, product delivered, etc, working 40 hours overtime a week in some cases, I can understand them not reading the EULA.
As others have mentioned before, the problem isn't that the article links to an eBay auction, but rather the title 'Build Your Own Imperial Star Destroyer' is more than misleading as the informatio in the linked sites don't give you the slighest clue as how to build your own star destroyer, but rather show you one that someone else built and now wish to sell.
>> File sharing is definately ILLEGAL!
So if I write up a few blank text files and share them, it is illegal? I don't think so. Can you be a bit more specific?

Well, we can, but penalties are huge!

Read the Fine Manual. :)

Best Version -> "It does outlaw the use of so-called "zombies"--computers running Windows"
:)
I think the law should stop right there. Just outlaw
Windows
I think in IRC-speak this is "/ignore legalese*!*@*planet.earth", though klining them off the IRC server would work just as well. ;)

Yes, but AGP's bus is longer. All depends on which one the girl prefer's. What were we talking about again?

I'm still trying to get my XP apps to work on XP, Longhorn isn't even in the picture yet.
It's all Greek to me...
Hmm, maybe they could sell $699 usd Java licenses, or sue someone for violating their IP.
FYI...I am joking here.

Sumerian Mythology mentions it too ( see: Gilgamesh ).

At least she won't be complaining about the size!
