What an unfortunate Engineering School, the one I went to, the first week we had an 'unlimited alcohol party' (one keg per person... do the maths) all paid for by university fees.
You can drive. You can have sex. You can die for you country.
The guy tried to claim that Halo3 made him do it, the judge basically threw that out and called him a cold calculated killer.
They guy is obviously nuts and his defense is trying any old thing to get him off.
Other stupid defenses I can suggest: * TV made him do it. * McDonalds made him do it (he must have eaten McD's some time in his life). * The gun made him do it. * Society made him do it. * Aliens made him do it.
I always found that the images from Voyager 1 put our insignificance in perspective. This is a wonderful thing for NASA to do and I hope it will inspire many of current and future generations.
If they are clever, the just generate their own cert and install it as a root cert on all the PC's, vola, no more warnings, snoop to your hearts content.
The problem is that if you place one of these 'passively' cooled switches in space, it will quite merrily cook itself to death as the heat it generates will not dissipate, air is an excellent insulator, you know.
Sounds like too much effort, a few years worth of crud in C:\ would be much more effective. But if you actually have something you need to hide then...
Truecrypt drive, then have encrypted file vaults that you base your security depending on how bad you want to keep it secret.
The government has no rights to my privacy, as I do not have rights to its ('top secret').
Sounds very similar to the Soyuz 5 rentry
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soyuz_5), would have been quite an ordeal.

As a child I remember building something similar, it was one of those little 'get you into electronics' kits.
It consisted of battery, circuit board, speaker, microphone and a light sensor. It would periodically chirp, if left in the dark in the quiet, and go silent at a hint of light or sound, the basic design would drive people crazy.
However due to shoddy soldering on my part, my one would only work intermittently, meaning the battery could last months with it only infrequently chirping away:). Needless to say, I left it at a friends house hidden away and promptly forgot about it, months latter at dinner at said friends house they mentioned 'The Cricket', it took a good 5 minutes before I could mange to produce anything comprehensible. =D
One would think that those businesses affected who depend on their network connection would see its value and have the appropriate SLA. Otherwise they should fall under the rest who need to fight over the limited data cause by a lack of investment of inferstructure. I have no sympathy, if line failure means a reduced capacity, that isn't a backup.
God talking heads piss me off some times. Get a clue.
This has played itself out over and over in different counties.
The ISP's will charge excessively high fees, citing a variety of excuses, however as soon as true completion emerges, suddenly it becomes feasible to have vastly improved service at a fraction of the cost. Either the the completion scums to the undercutting and prices start to slowly climb again, or a truce is declared after a while and things start to stagnate.
Its an interesting business model and I'm sure some economist can let as all know the proper term.
As for the US, welcome to what the rest of the world has been putting up with for a while, really don't see what all the fuss is about.
It probably was a composite, there is a ignorance that seems to think that titanium is a strong metal... it has a high weight to strength ratio but a poor volume to strength ratio. I've been up all night so I won't go into the details, but for example, if you wanted a broad sword made out of titanium, the blade would be about 20-30cm wide to have the same strength, and would not keep an edge, however it would be lighter.
The diving knife, if it was a good one, with a price to match, was probably a titanium alloy, with the blade edge consisting of a higher percentage of some metal with a high hardness.
Some people really need to go back and do stats... oh wait you never did? Oh, go on then keep trying the lottery, I personally prefer an investment with a lower return but having a much lower risk.
Blasphemy! The pirate population has _decreased_ as a result of global warming. As for the ninja's who knows, not like you can ever count them anyway...
This is what really fucks me off... why on earth should I have to grab a pirated copy of a game, just to be able to play a game that I purchased because the DRM is so fucked up, and were not just talking about Steam here.
Anybody have the name/link of this mod?
Having forced myself to finish Doom 3 and never completing the expansion, that actually sounds like fun.

Love the article, just what my 'wanting to have a baby' mad wife needs :).
New marketing campaign.

Ohh come on! Get a funny bone, or maybe go outside of your parents basement for a change :P
You know I think I found THE game for you!
Its called 'The Big Blue Room', also known as IRL.
The graphics are absolutely amazing, its completely open ended yet has a finishing goal, amazing how they got that to work.
Its a total challenge, especially when your trying to mix gear upgrades with achievements.
You should try it some time, you might be pleasantly surprised.
And I'd hardly call Eve a major success... I'd agree, the Eve intro was horrible and put me off, another customer lost.
Hello Mr Goldfish. I'm here to remind you about SCO and all the fun and entertainment they provided us. Regards

Think you missed the point of this, the issue is that hot air does not 'rise' in space, this has nothing to do with dumping generated heat into space.

In international air space, no one can censor me...
Could we have that in units that countries that are not america use please :P.
The display stuff was rubbish... They didn't even understand the most basic concept of static to dynamic image perception. Waste of time really.
