Nah, I give a shit too. Now that the MS vs Linux battle has come to the 'like kicking a puppy' stage, there's not a whole lot of reasons to continue the hate-fest on MS. If anything, the current attitude of Apple should be hated. Hell, Apple's bigger than Microsoft in stock value now. (Although that could just be the big boys giving Jobs a magic sendoff before he kicks the bucket. Then it looks like the world is going to go back to being dominated by IBM and Java, which is just going to end up back to the original 'Evil Empire' that IBM was in the 1970s.)

I've done Java, and I've done C#, and I gotta say the .NET framework is a lot easier to work with than the massive mess that is Java.

Nimoy needs to have a talk with Tom Wilson (Biff from Back to the Future). I went and saw his comedy show Friday night, and a lot of the show was all about how his name is "Tom, not Biff". I totally understand how he might be sick of the type-casting, but as much as we hated Biff, most of us still loved the way he portrayed the character. I think it's a lot the same story for him.

Very funny guy. Got to talk with him for a bit after the show, it seems really odd to be staring "Biff" in the eye and it was a bit surreal that in real life he is a very nice guy. (I expected a cocky ass like Biff, pretty much the complete opposite) I told him a story about how I got beat up by a guy named Tom Wilson (But not him) back in 9th grade. He thought that was funny cause I'm way bigger than him. And we talked about Spongebob (He's done quite a bit of voicing for them, and my little boy and I watch way too much of that!).

I saw the term, silently chuckled, and then I kept reading, and noticed he added to the conversation by discussing the 1:1 ratio. And then deconstructed it to where I also don't think a 1:1 ratio is a bad thing. In fact, that's a pretty good ratio. Not that I'd ever really thought about it before, but I find it a pretty good number and surprised it's not more like 1(Teacher):4(Other staff), usually govt jobs are full of lazy leeches sucking off the work of other lower paid types.

Creative wordsmithing is the sign of a thinker, not a sheep. Even if you don't agree with their point of view fully. Shutting down your input stream because a word bothers you will really limit the depth of your reading.

These days, I fully agree. But several years ago, horrible hacks of tables nested in tables nested in tables were used to get the effect of what CSS does for us today. My reaction upon learning CSS was to fully avoid using tables at all for a while. (Which led to some rather comical adventures in overly complicated divs within divs within divs, trying to duplicate the base functionality of a table. Informative, but time-wasting.)

But nowdays, if I'm going to display truly tabular data, I use a single table (Inside of a containing div, nesting of tables not allowed ever) to lay out the basics of the display. Then use CSS to tune the appearance of some of the table elements. It's faster to develop, and you don't lose the control of CSS.

While we all strive for perfection, relax about it a bit, enjoy the multi-browser hacks while you can, it's not going to be as much fun once there's just one way left. Making hacks to support your vision being perfect across multiple browsers, especially in the current DHTML -> Javascript -> jQuery -> Web Services focus that's taking over now (it's still in the early/fun stage), if you don't enjoy it, you might want to drop down to middleware programming where you can achieve near-perfection.
