I don't believe in the "violent video games make you do violent things" theory. If this was true, then how come the "sports video games make you a better athlete" theory isn't?? I play Madden almost nonstop, but I'm not what you'd call an NFL player. In fact, I can safely say that Madden has not made me better one bit at actual football. So, why would Grand Theft Auto make me more violent? I believe that violent video games should be kept out of the hands of kids under 14, but after that age, they should be able to handle it.
we all know it's coming anyway. There's no way to stop the copy protection asshats unless a judge orders them to be stopped. You know what the stupid part is, though? Obviously, someone will make a hack to get around it, so it will all be useless, because the people who are exploiting copy protection for making bootlegs for profit will still be able to do so. All of us will be able to copy CDs as we please (as long as we install more hacks on our pc). This will only hurt the average consumer, because there won't be a way to employ copy protection in the stand-alone burners that bootleggers use.
i pose this question: why do we need them to carry cargo??? so the unemployment rate skyrockets?? now, army transport i can understand, but domestic air freight??? why??? Remember, people, these things cost $25 million a pop.
"PhysicsWeb selects its top ten stories of 2002 -- a year that will also be remembered for two high-profile cases of scientific misconduct.
1. Anti-atoms at CERN
2. Cosmic microwaves reveal polarization
3. New results confirm neutrino oscillation
4. Defying the second law
5. Advances in Superconductivity
6. Ultra-cold atoms research continues to make advances
7. Magnets in nanoscale logic devices
8. Neutrons used to measure quantum gravitational effects
9. First evidence for 'tetra-neutrons'
10. Bright times in optics 11. Low points of the year
12. Hope for the future
for some reason, this post made me think of this powerpoint. It's pretty funny, memo to Osama from the Boeing chairman. Off-topic, I know, but funny nonetheless.
first, you buy a textbook, like the one you had in 11th grade. Then, you place it under your pillow and learn by osmosis.
or
you take a big ol' jar of gasoline, add styrofoam until you get a play-doh like mixture. what you have is napa----------
oops, you were asking for suggestions. I thought you wanted to know what I did.

Robot Pharmacists

· Score: 1
I remember reading a Reader's Digest article about pharmacists not being able to read doctors' handwriting. This would eliminate that problem.
However, it would open a whole new can of worms. For example, who makes sure the robot measures the right amount, or that the bar codes aren't screwed up. A pharmacist filling a prescription might be able to tell when a pink liquid medicaiton is in the place a blue liquid should be, but a robot won't be able to tell. Until we can acheive 100% accuracy, this shouldn't be tried.
No longer would parents say "Well, I had no idea that Grand Theft Auto 3 was about crime" since they would be a good parent and have done some research about the game they're buying Johnny (or at least read the back of the box).
Or read the FRONT of the box. Hello, it's called Grand Theft Auto.
People are stupid.
no studies will be done as long as there's a world outside of video games
hey, it's a PS2, not a Gamecube

Doesn't it make anyone a little suspicious that Microsoft is on their eigth halloween document in 4 years? There's only been 4 halloweens!
does anyone think microsoft should publish an oss version of windows? this would be teh shit for developers to fool with
hmmmm, someone didn't learn their numbers
and think about this. since the engine is YEARS old, the gameplay will suck by the time the game rolls out.
In Soviet Russia, Slashdot doesn't register Anonymous Cowards.
Ba-dum-bum

macs chug along at 700 mhz?? that's like saying, compared to an athlon 1600, a P4 2000 chugs along
oh wait
are they going to get the robot's mouth to move totally independently of the sounds coming out of the speakers?
For the price, I'll stick with my D-Link, thanks
it's almost believable.

how is it that they feel that playing violent video games will make you a killer, yet I play Madden 2003 all the time and I'm not an NFL quarterback
