Bit-torrenting music doesn't launder money as efficiently.
Plus, ever tried giving people a CD full of mp3's for birthday? They'd think you're cheap. Now switch that for a fake Apple Giftcard and all of a sudden you're hip. Worth the 13 bucks.
So they only check laptops or what? What about ipods, thumbdrives, cellphones, nds? Man I would carry an autorun virus on a usb stick if they're checking those.
Fourthly Your *real* references come from work friends and managers who you were on friendly terms with. Get their names and numbers. Screw the company. It may not even exist in 2 years.
Exactly! If he blackmails people, what make anyone think he'd give "good" reference. The most valuable thing I got from working the past 10 years are the work friends. The work enemies I let them die of old age.
To engage them, give them broad topics to explore such as conservation of momentum, change of state, magnetism, and illustrate them with they own experiments.
exactly the same for me, I have not more problem with ME than with 95, 98, or 98SE. If I see a BSOD on ME with the same config, it would show up in 98.
It hurts when I see ME bashing here but I really suspect it's due to the old days where people say a VIA chipset is not good with nvidia etc.. or peeps running ME on Cyrix. Personally I loved my ME, it boots faster.
The companies I worked for thru the years here in Hong Kong never install pirate stuff as we have great timely support from the US office whenever we need. The question I have for you is:
Why is your BJ branch installing pirated office and adobe? Don't you have license for those software and whether you provide them with a link to the US servers to download? If not, do you have a process where they can "order" software from you, or have the budget to buy the software in mainland?
The ultimate question, which I suspect is why they do it, is, are they pirating photoshop because your US office is too cheap to get them what's good, and forces them to use MS paint to crop silly pictures?
This happens in a lot of places, 1 or 2 computers in a company has Acrobat, all the other ones uses Acrobat reader. Those 2 computers go on vacation, some dude needs to change some text in a PDF and notice the reader can't do it. They ended up pirating Acrobat.
Provide everyone with the software they need to get the job done. Educate them to ASK you for them if they need it but don't have it. And if you don't have it, won't buy it in time, and don't care, then just shut up (I am sorry for the bluntness). If the BJ office has access to your legit software, they won't pirate it.
Thanks for the info man. I just feel really bad for the peeps in middle east right now, especially for the medics. Can you imagine? Just a slight misfire on the trigger and you could die; worse yet, be shot and paralyzed for life. All because you're trying to patch a wound.
I get goosebumps all over the place when I read that. I really can't imagine the Taliban will freeze and not shoot a medic. I never knew it's illegal either. But it boggles my mind why it's illegal to shoot a medic? What if you are at war with a unit that are all medics, with guns.
What if you drop a megaton tnt on a unit, with 2 medics walking by them?
The way I see it isn't that Linux doesn't do what they want, but slowly and surely, Windows has become the "English" of OS'es. People just aren't going to speak "Chinese" all of a sudden, even though the Chinese population is really high and there're great opportunities dealing with China.
Those who speaks it, enjoys the closer translation of the anime, orders real food and know what they mean in restaurants. Those that don't speak simply ignores it, can't be arsed to learn, and continue knowing languages based on Latin.
I can't help but see the parallels because I was once a fob. Can you imagine the effort it'll take to market Chinese?
Hey glad to know you here also. I thought only geeks read slashdot hehehe..
I didn't like SC and AoE online much either. I once got so pissed off I made an army of priests in AoE just to "ni ni ni" their entire force to mine. So annoying those games.
Plenty of games to play yeah? I gave up on Ultima Online long ago, got back into Eve Online, and gave up again. I just grew out of MMO's I guess.
Gaming for me is almost exactly like yours. I like to see how things work. And for an immigrant like me, I learned a lot from good games like Colonization..
Hey it's fine. I get into my father mode sometime:) Looks like you need to spend some more time and find a more mature server then.
I don't exclusively play multiplayer games either, a single player experience is also good. It's just that I get lucky and run into mature players all the time.
Occasionally you do get the hacking teens, but they get voteban quick. For MMORPG's, I quited long ago. But when I was there I also hooked up with a bunch of 30+ who treats their leisure time as valuable as yours and mine. So generally I did get a good experience.
I am sorry to hear your story, gaming is never a sport to me either, it's much like gardening for some, and chess for others.
I am sorry this sound like arguing but if you watched the Olympics, you'd notice some "losers" cried, some "losers" smiled. I am sure you'd find happiness in other areas:)
Someday, you might have a different attitude, young man. If losing isn't fun, there'll always only be a a few bikers in the marathon events. As I don't think the last 10 out of the hundred are insane enough to think they'd win.
The only person you got to beat, is yourself bro. There'll always be someone smarter, richer, longer. No point for linux to compete with the baddies then. Now if linux is actually "competing", that would be a different topic.
After being called a "n00b" about 2,000,000 times and a "fag" about 42,000,000,000,000 times during online play the better question is why does ANYONE put up with it!?
Maybe because we're game-WHOREs?:)
Stop competing, play the damn game. I don't get why people keep thinking everything is a competition. Nobody gives a damn if you pwn on a game of CSS, you still get sick, you still pay tax, and you will most definitely die 120 years from now and nobody would care how many headshots you got in that CSS game bro.
Relax, have a beer, snipe some noobs, mine some spice, steal a car, fit a brick!:D Man I am too old for this.
Dude, relax. Why do you want to "compete" with people? Aren't real life competitive enough? Slow down, have a mountain dew, and enjoy the game. Who cares if you lose. Have fun.
What I enjoy most in online game isn't even the game, but the interaction and the occasional 12 yo that decides to speak on the mic.

Quickly hides my ipod touch....

you're wasting my RAM Memory with a post like that dude. Wait..
I am undead, you insensitive clod!

That microgravity on human body thing's good too.

I guess there's no winners.
yes I know it's illegal to shoot at a medic

I wish theirs an admin in life, or at least a votekick.
I wish theirs aimbot in life, or at least a speel checker.
I wish there's end turn in lines, or at least a build 0.
I wish there's catch up assistance, or at least a Cessna in my garage.
If your game bleeds into your RL, you should be grateful. I never seem to pwn in RL, posting to slashdot everyday.
You know what they call a quarter pounder with cheese in France? :)
America! Fuck Yeah!
are you sure they're aliens?
Looks like they bricked the word "brick" too!

DeLorian's Space-Time compensator is evil. You are educated stupid. The substrate is consisted of 4 corners and Dr. Brown is evil and stupid.

now if you send a subspace transmission that travel faster than light back there, would you be able to talk your great great grand father?
argh, my noodles!

That is exactly why I like TF2. I've got the AWP reflexes and stuff but when I TF2, I spend my time on the "thinking" part then pure headshots.
It's really satisfying when you see the enemy trying to out think you, and you double out think them soviet russia style.
The reflexes still matters, but teamwork matters most.
