I actually started off serious photography with the D40x, and have since sold it. Now I only have film cameras (the ixus and mobile phone don't count).
The trigger happy wasn't the result but rather the hindrance to photography. Snaps are fine if you don't look at it right after. I find many newbies spend their time "looking at the screen" that they miss what's really going on in the real world.
Photography isn't just looking through the VF, compose, shoot, print. There's a lot of observation and thought involved away from the camera. And if you spend all your time looking at the LCD who knows what you're missing in the grand picture. I find "the shot" is only a small part of what photography is.
This is not "funny". We actually do this during a client event and this was the quickest and most reliable way to ID guests for later use.
We cannot use digital, or even digital with printers because 300 guests are waiting in line, and we need to ID each guest immediately one after another. Polaroid has its use.
It's true, at least that's what I think. Game making was like alchemy, back in the day, very few people were brave enough to do them. Normal people usually just get a normal job, game makers were like meh who cares.
Nobody knew who Carmack was, even now, only us in here know who he is. And that was good. Because we're not chasing after the "gods" blindly; we played and praised the games based on how good they were. Since there aren't that many peeps making them and there were no "internet", there weren't a media effect and we judged the game for what it was.
NOW, if you go on the street and ask anyone who Carmack is, I bet you nobody would know either. But not for the same reason as before. Now, nobody knows him because there're too many peeps like him (well not exactly like him hehe). Game makers I mean. And the quality is just watered down to a point, with internet marketing, blog influencing and stuff, that a game can't just be good, but has to be good in the scores and reviews too. That's just superficial. Bruce Lee never had a score and he can kick your ass.
Well we can draw parallel of the less maker vs more maker from here on other stuff.. And you'll see.
The irony is it would be great if you could comment like this, perhaps to your boss, or wife, or a judge, in this real world and makes a difference in the real world.
But alas, you can't, so you teach PhyEd. Not personal attack bro, just pointing out the beauty of the internet, such as posting to slashdot, is a privilege not everyone has. And we have, so cherish your +5 blacksmithing here instead of trashing the fun.:)
An executive from Atomic Games, the maker of the unreleased game Six Days in Fallujah was seen handing over the complete source code on a 1.44MB floppy disk to an executive from 3D Realms. Gamers around the world rejoice that this controversial title might yet see the day of light in the latest release from 3D Realms.
Exactly what title that be, we're not authorize to report here.
I completely agree. Nothing but chaos for the past year and how all these enhancement really changed our experience?? Absolutely nothing.
Please for the love of the IPU understand that slashdot readers are from a certain segment and we really don't need all these spoon feed bs. Thank you.
It's not just that, if we compare ourselves to our parents, and to our grandparents, you'll see that the more you go back in time, the more things get done.
It is "this" generation that is uberly educated, creative, analytical, that is doomed to procrastination, and nothing ever gets done. I love to be in it.
To quantumplate the mass of the man, do what CIA do. Who can take his place? I don't know anyone that can. The fact that "scientists" can think of a successor isn't the point. That's how great this dude is.
Stevie I love your book btw, rest up and come back?:)
Why else you think they hire you bro? So there's someone to take the load.:) I would say get the hell outta there if they get mad at you for doing your job.
Don't worry bro, these "devices" will be in the shape of a long and thing flashlight with a thumb button to activate. You then swing it around the swarm of mosquitoes to kill.
We're all educated stupid and evil, such as and. And I believe you, bro. Can you imagine what it'd be like if there's no school? All that creativity, all those ways to pick a pocket. We can't let that happen.
Let's make something called school to occupy them!
I am only in the job for the money, whether the job is meaningful is irrelevant.
thanks Clippy!
ok Borat you win.
I must be new here but again, please stop touching the pages guys.

yah matey, I totally agree. PC gaming just beats consoles, just look at GTA4 and other genre you mentioned.
I do have some consoles around for the "gatherings" and occasional chick visits, you know, like in Sims 3.
Pinball and OMF were must haves. You still remember what S11=55 means? hehehe.

Hang on a minute, you're saying constantly changing layout confuses people and drive people away??

Hard to believe it's been 10 years eh. Greatest movie ever.

I may eventually publish my "morality document", but it's really not ready yet.
I wonder any of us writing our own morality.doc will ever see the doc ready. It's never ready bro :)
Just hope your enemy do not shoot your "cactus" for fun. Dude you've never been in a sniping position and got eaten alive by mosquitoes eh?
Why else you think they hire you bro? So there's someone to take the load. :) I would say get the hell outta there if they get mad at you for doing your job.
There is no seasoning with someone who believes in an omni-sour, omni-bitter, inedible spaghetti dressing.
Fixed that for you, Ramen.

dream job is an oxymoron, bro.
