I find this interesting.
It used to be that these companies kissed the ass of Radio stations. Who knows, they still might.
They gave away the songs, tickets to concerts, everything to the radio stations to play the music during prime time to get their songs out there.
Now, they are wanting the consumer, the very person that will like or dislike their artists work to pay to even listen to it for the first time?
Complete 180 by the industry.
Here is what I propose... play garage band songs, and songs by people who dont want to nickle and dime the consumer to death
Fuck you big industry and suck my balls.
Nah, just target what needs to be targeted.
You can keep the data, but...
It must be secure.
You can not sell it
You can not rent it
You can not data mine it
You can not lease it, or sub-lease it
You can not borrow against it
You can not give it out to anyone for free
You can not data mine it
You can not use it in any way
If the court asks for it, it must be under subpoena or warrant and the customer MUST be notified. Once the court asks for it, the data must be shipped in the strictest confidence with 20 armed guards and 5 of the worlds top security experts.
Oh, and I should have stated, that I know this is a story for Germany, but is it really a stretch to think phone companies arent doing this all over the world, including USA?
Should we be surprised?
Our Grocery stores track what we purchase, and everyone said "oh well, cheaper prices" (BS But okay).
Our ISPs track our information, even hijack DNS error pages now. Everyone said "Oh well, they are a business"
Now this, and I guarantee it will be "Oh well, they are a business that needs to make money"
Agreed.
In fact, wasn't there a post on Slashdot regarding the affected industry? Or maybe I heard it on the news.
Only 4% of Japans economy was affected by the Earthquake, the rest of the country kept right on working.
So 4% = 25% of the worlds chip makers?
Yes, overpopulated. Regardless of how much "open land" is out there, there is always a limit.
You need what % of forest to counter a persons carbon dioxide (breathing). Then add things like co2 from cars, etc.
Now, how much space is needed to feed that person? Cloth them? Water to wash and drink?
If not then why would you expect anyone else to? If so then then there's little point in my replying since you aren't here anymore, right?
I believe his question is valid, and your response is trolling.
We will over populate the world, no doubt. In fact, I believe it already is.
What will come of this will be famine, death, and of course war.
So, it will even itself out, right? Sure, but would it not be more humane to attempt to control the population before it gets to this point?
After all, what separates Humans from Animals, but our own humanity?
This sounds like last summer's offshore oil well leak all over again. Sooner or later the truth will come out. Trying to hide things now only makes it look like they're trying to cover something up.
Irrational fear does not mean facts should not be released.
The reality is that the news organizations are making it sound like it will be an issue and then ask... "What do the experts say? You will hear it, coming up next".
Of course, "next" means "at the end of the news broadcast", by which time everyone is bored and turns off the news.
THe problem is, no one stays around to listen and then assume it is the worst. When in actuality and historically, it is the opposite.
This is how news organizations work, in order to keep you around during the commercials.
I wouldnt say uncertainty breeds fear, but recent events.
A nuclear power plant is at "stage 5" alert, where the worst is stage 7.
They were reluctant to report a lot of issues, including the water leakage in one of their reactors, causing exposed cores.
The radiation is getting worse by the day, yet they still haven't issued a larger area of evacuation notices
People are being told to wash their clothes if significant radiation was found. (Heard this on NPR)
How is it clearly a vendetta?
I mean, clearly information is being released, and it may or may not be true. But if proven true, then a vendetta it is not. It is just truth.
To label it anything else is to misplace the anger at those that caused it.
If this had never happened, it would have never been released.
It seems that this is more a way to get the company to recover the black box and/or answer what really happened to cause the plane to crash.
It has to be, because they don't even know what caused it.
Actually, I was thinking more of small business and their lack of control on their users.
Because, lets face it, limiting users on a small 20 person network isn't cost affective.
but forcing a small business to invest in that technology and the configuration of it to prevent users from spending all the corporate money is a cost that small businesses usually cannot afford.
I was online this morning with a few people from Japan.
I found out that American schooled people are being evacuated, and that all of the "Military kids" of the higher echelons have already been moved out of the area.
Of course, these could just be rumors, but one guy was pretty convinced he was being evacuated today.
Here's my perception: I don't know how it looks from inside US, but from outside it doesn't look any different, certainly not any difference in the good sense of it.
So, if you do care about the perception from outside, you'll do something. If you don't care, don't be surprise if the rest of the world will start not caring either.
If it isnt any different, Obama will be voted in again. But it doesn't look like it will happen.
Truth is, the Republicans still run the Government.
I would advise against this type of "hypothetical model" unless you want to slow innovation and business growth.
I would also advise against it because the industry is leading consumers into an "online world", where all data will exist.
If infrastructure can not handle the load (how much dark fiber do we have in the world?), then it needs to catch up. Living off the 90s infrastructure boon is just not going to cut it.
They did?
That must be why jailbreaking is so prevalent.
I worked for a few millionaires and they wanted to jailbreak their apple products. Want to know why? Free software.

How are you Obammy apologists going to rationalize this away? If Bush had done this, you all would have been screaming, "ZOMG, shrub = teh Hitler!!!"
Not even Faux News has covered this... and they will cover anything bad.
Remember, if it is on the interwebs, it must be true!
I find this interesting.

See? Simple!
I agree. I mean what is the point of having a cel phone except for the ability to get a hold of the user any time?
O wait.

Consumers let this happen.
If your job title is Cheeto tester, then you are IN baby!
Agreed.

You willing to kill yourself and your family?

I think the Willis tower is about 2/3rds empty as it is. Nobody knows what to do with all that really expensive office space anymore.
Except lowering the price...
Is it better to stay empty or to pull in some cash?
what are you talking about? willis?
.... tower.
Oh thats right, I went there.
Still funnier than Bob Saget
Also be nice to know how much power they could save by using windows that open instead of A/C...
It has been a while since the ability to open windows existed on tall buildings. You can thank those that jumped from the buildings.
Where do you get your information?
My Droid is plugged in every 2-4 days depending on usage.

Who defines art, but those that admire it?
Games are their own art, to put it into a classical sense is nonsense.
