no no no, that only works when you are going for the 'most creative code' contest. otherwise the standard protocol involves electroshock therapy, like on ghostbusters.
If he's using XP now, presumably like most of those idjits out there, he'll jump for joy when Vista comes out
I resent that comment. I would call my self an informed user, with plenty of Linux experience. However, I get windows xp for free because I am a grad student, and currently don't have any need to switch over. But when Vista is actually released, I have no desire to run an OS that does not come with all the features that are available. That annoys me to no end. When I say, "when I get tired of XP", I mean in about a year or two when I am looking to upgrade. So you might want to quit putting all those 'idjits' into a pigeonhole and realize that there are informed users who use XP who also find that the Vista nonsense is the last straw...
Or even an Ipod with removable/upgradable storage.
I would want one with removeable everything, meaning if my battery goes out, screen gets scratched, etc, it could be replaced without having to buy a new one. I cannot conceive of how that would work, but it sure would be a nice feature to have.
I completely agree. And I would support it financially, but it is a financially hard time for my wife and I (I am in grad school, etc). Otherwise, I would love to give some money to them.
...I used to be a republican. They only have big business in their minds, rather than us. I fear what may happen if this one gets his seat on the supreme court. I mean, I am all for supporting my president and leadership in tough times, but this incident makes me doubt that the working class/not wealthy are on the minds of our current leadership.
More than a year before the final product
Why do I get the feeling that we won't actually see this product until after I have my masters degree.....in 2008?
...really disturbing. Whatever my bias may be, it is hard not to consider that the riaa is simply trying to control everything. What about college radio stations that play indipendent music, or when the radio plays artists that arent really concerned about piracy issues? It looks more and more like the riaa are becoming control freaks...
Of course, there's also a very good chance that the RIAA won't push any cases far enough to actually go to trial
I am not well versed in this area of the law. Could you please explain what you mean by the quoted above, specifically what it means to 'not push a case far enough?
thanks
as you don't have a system admin or professional technician at home.
Or you do have one at home, but he gets grumpy if you ask him questions without rtfm.
after the release date? no way. I remember having a 'friend' who was able to find a workaround for the activation fiasco before the release of windows xp....

..I was not aware that pirates like that even existed. Anyone know anything on the subject? You don't hear much about them here in St. Louis, MO....
.....let's also not forget the massive Xchange of pr0n going on...
it's chilly here in Hell.
....dammit. I just deployed the 2.0 rc on several systems where I work. Now I have to go touch them all again...
Good thing they pay me by the hour.
ha ha, no. It is a Lutheran (German origin) Seminary (in the united states), so it actually looks a bit like hogwarts.
Actually my grad program is in Divinity (theology). I just don't have the time to make the switch over to Linux yet. But I will probably this summer.
And right on the heels of more vista nonsense...

I know that this has been discussed on /. before, but after reading http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/winvista_edit ions.asp, I am honestly thinking that I will be using Linux full time once I get tired of XP

...I guess I will just have to fork over the cash for OpenOffice
...wait a second..
But I'm not a Democrat either.

but I thought OSS was evil....or was that Google...
I see, so you maintain that this isn't a big deal in monopolistic or oligopolistic situations....

I was always under the impression that it was a bad idea for a business to split their products like that....
