    UNetBootin doesn't work well with Mandriva One 2010. Or at least not for me. Of course, Mandriva One is a hybrid ISO. If you use their "Seed" tool (essentially dd), it will boot nicely off a stick.

    Sometimes turning it down involves a bit of psychology -- knowing your manager.

    I was at a very small shop -- about 8 heads total, including the owner. I was asked if I would become the group lead, which involved managerial type stuff -- scheduling, etc...

    I told the owner that, if necessary, I would do it, but I knew my limitations, and it would probably not make either of us happy.

    I had phrased it in a manner that he understood and was able to agree with, and so I was able to keep my (then-)present role.

    What central location?

    We did that for our kids.

    The central location? The file cabinet in my home office. They only made one fingerprint card per kid, which they gave to us.
    Remember, this was in the early '90s, at the tail end of the child abduction hysteria (yeah, it's still around but not as strong).

    We were told to keep the card, and put a small clip of the kids' hair into a mini-ziploc, and store it with the card.

    That's why they changed the name. Whenever they tried to get it to do something, it would only follow a script, even if the program didn't follow that same script.

    You ask as if I was accusing Microsoft of being especially evil. This isn't another big secret like the the way they carefully arrange APIs to disadvantage other companies that develop for Windows. In fact let's just ask them.

    Except for the fact that you seem to imply that MS created Interix to destroy Unix. Only problem is that MS didn't create Interix, they bought it.

    It's been almost 30 years since I had quantum... I seemed to recall that the professor described the classical limit as h -> 0.

    He was probably simplifying for us -- it was an intro to quantum class.

    Then the latency is a major issue.

    Round-trip = 2 * (22300 miles up + 22300 miles down) = ~90000 miles = ~0.5s (500ms) latency at the speed of light.

    Which raises the question (and yes, I did RTFA), is this satellite in LEO or GEO?

    If it's in GEO, you have a minimum 0.5 second round-trip ping time. Latency becomes a major factor at that point, regardless of how much bandwidth you can stuff in the channel.

    Remember, 186000 mi/sec, it's not just a good idea -- its the law!
