Huh? The toll booths have nothing to do with Dailey...they're run by the State of Illinois, not the city of Chicago.
For instance, does the toll booth in Lake County on 94 right before you hit Wisconsin go into Dailey's pocket? I don't think so.
But you're right about Illinois roads...they suck...it's like you're coming from Wisconsin with nice paved roads and when you cross the state line into Illinois you hit pot-holes and bumpy pavement and WHAM...there's a toll booth staring right in your face...it sucks. Indiana is just as bad.
But you also know that when NFL season comes around, daylight savings time is gone.
And yes, while I admire Indiana snubbing the idiotic Daylight Savings time, it is kind of a pain for the people that live there in the Michiana area trying to adjust to when programs come on...
But really, I buy a DVD and I buy "the thing". I take care of the "thing" so I can enjoy the "thing" that I bought. If I damage the "thing" I bought, I go out and buy another "thing"...
I don't make copies of my couch, or TV or teapot. If these "things" get damaged, I get a new one. I have to.
I treat a DVD as a thing. The physical object that makes the DVD. If I take care of it, it will last me. If I damage the DVD (just like if I damage something else in my house), then I have no one to blame but myself. It's an object.
But no, I don't equate stealing a movie in a theater with copying a DVD for personal use. But I stand by my thoughts on why one would ever need a copy of a DVD. But yes, you have the right to do this.
I'm sure if there were a cheap way to copy my couch, TV and teapot I would do it...just in case.
Which brings up an interesting quandry...people make copies of things that are cheap to buy originally...such as a DVD or a CD...yet for purchases that cost many hundreds of dollars we haven't figured out how to copy them in case of damage.
Guess we're still waiting for that Star Trek Replicator.
Not really, you notice that I put Futurama after the Simpsons at 8:00, by then most of the games are over...and if they aren't, they still play the Simpsons etc etc from the beginning.
You were thinking of when Futurama was on at 7:00, 6:00 central time...then yes, they would always get cut.
Maybe Oliver Bean and Malcome in the Middle can go at 7:00 and 7:30 during football season.
Or perhaps tell the NFL hey, your game will end at 7:00...I mean, they can edit out a lot of the games since they're all filmed 6 months in advance in the same hanger they faked the moon landings in....but I digress.
I made the mistake of using tag hoping that slashdot would ignore it and just show "" at the beginning of the post...
And of course, I didn't preview the post so you'll notice that they didn't show up! So now I look like a total idiot troll (instead of just a plain idiot).
Then again, just because I personally don't have a reason to copy DVDs doesn't mean that you don't.
I was just fooling around in my post anyway, being sarcastic etc etc.
But then again I also have a 10 year old and he's been using DVD's since he was 5 with no problems, but then again, I could have been lucky with him, but then again...(I could go back and forth with "then agains" all day...but then again I've got things to do...)
How dare they tell me I can't videotape a movie I PAID MONEY TO SEE! I want to make a copy of it, I paid for the movie after all.
Also, how dare they say I can't make a copy of my DVD. I want to make a copy of it to....um....well, I don't really know why I would make a copy of something that cost 14 bucks and doesn't really degrade from repeated viewing....but still, it's MY RIGHT to make as many copies as I want...doesn't matter that I really have no use for a copy.
Wait, if I make a copy of a dvd I OWN, I should be able to decide how I want those copies of that dvd that I OWN to be distributed. If I want to make 1000 copies of a dvd I OWN (get the picture, I bought and paid for the dvd), then I should be able to sell those 1000 copies...after all I OWN the original dvd!
I also think all movies should be free for anyone and everyone...no matter what. So what they spent millions of dollars making them, screw them! How dare they tell me I have to pay to see them! I thought this was a free country!!!!
Here's the new Fox lineup starting at 8pm, 7 central:
8:00 = The Simpsons
8:30 = Futurama (Oliver Bean was funnier when it was called "The Wonder Years")
9:00 = The Family Guy (Malcome in the Middle should be Malcom in the Unemployment line)
9:30 = Arrested Development (this is a GREAT show, please keep it idiots)
Please note, there are no laugh tracks in any of the above shows...as you don't need to tell us when something is funny. (Animated before a live audience?)
Also, Fox WILL stop from the idiotic news teases such as "Alarming news about a certain new food you could be eating right at this very moment that could instantly kill you...we'll tell you about it at 10pm".
Oh I agree that Slashdot should cover the releases...but I was in error when I said they didn't cover the 2.6.5 and 2.6.4 kernels...and since I thought they hadn't, I was questioning why they were for the 2.4 kernels.
I'm a layman...I have no idea what I talk about, but of course that doesn't stop me.
I know I keep coming back to Virginia Tech, but isn't all those G5's linked together to make the 3rd fastest supercomputer itself a cluster? Or is it considered something else?
And if it IS considered a cluster, then why wouldn't a Linux based (along with the *BSD based G5s) be able to make a fast supercomputer?
If so, then what Paul Terry is spouting is just FUD and marketing to help sell his product, yes?
Around 1980 or so is when I got into D&D...but moved on from there to other game systems.
I just didn't like the rule set for D&D...not even the d20 system. I mean, d20 is certainly an improvement, but I just got into other game systems.
I remember me and my friends playing a LOT of the Hero game systems like "Danger International" and "Fantasy Hero". These were basically a skeletal system that could be adapted pretty easily.
But by far my favorite game and game system was "Call of Cthulhu". I liked that skills were based on percentages. I liked the way that your skill percentage went up on the skills you used etc. And of course not to mention the very well written modules for the game itself.
We played a lot of games, but not D&D (or more specifically AD&D...back when it was called that).
We played these the most:
1. Call of Cthulhu 2. Danger International 3. Fantasy Hero 4. Morrow Project 5. Paranoia 6. Starfleet Battles
Ah...but it's been like 14 years since I've played anything. But we had a blast...never really took anything seriously and just had a great time.
Of course you know that people joke around...and they really don't mean "I'm going to beat my wife" and as you DO remember Alice from the Honeymooners was NEVER submissive nor was she ever hit by Ralph...quite the opposite...she always put him in her place.
I'm curious NineNine...what "brick & mortar" place do you have? You're a retailer, but what do you sell?
Your site points to "Free Porn". Are you in the porn business? If so, is it really better to go to a porn shop and "see" what you're buy? Just wondering.
But if you're not in that industry, what do you sell? Do you sell something that needs to be seen such as a musical instruments. Or something generic like books where you really don't have to see the product to buy it...as with Amazon.
I'm not trying to say or imply anything...I'm just curious. Is Amazon competition for you personally? If so, I can certainly understand your anger.
Really, I was wondering this myself. I mean, I've been playing OpenGL games for years now.
In the article they kind of say what they mean, but the headline in the Slashdot article makes it seem like OpenGL is FINALLY being released and is no longer vapor.
But then again, the person you are talking to in the car should also be fearing for their life and help watch the road
Tell that to Tony Soprano when he was in the car with Adreana and she yells about the racoon in the road. If she wasn't there he would have just run over it, instead of rolling his car...and I've gone way way off topic now.....
I'm not as think as you drunk I am Occifer...I was just going out to get a Cof-a-cuppy....no really...and a Marn-a-greeta
We don't have a TV, but we watch Sunday night TV at my inlaws house...mainly HBO original programs like The Sopranos and Deadwood at the moment.
So giving up TV for a week isn't really a big deal for us...
But giving up the internet for a week? That would be hard my friend...
I mean, I could see a FX company buying it...but an investment firm that handles grocery technology and coal services?
I'm sorry, but it brings to mind that back in the 70's when AMF bought Harley-Davidson...and look at THAT fiasco.
Hehe, I wouldn't argue with you there. I mean, just look at the guy's dad. He's carrying on the tradition I guess.
Huh? The toll booths have nothing to do with Dailey...they're run by the State of Illinois, not the city of Chicago.

We can now put information down on paper!!!
Just think of what we can do now!
You could like....put a whole book or something on it!
Nah...that'll never work.
yeah, I know...
I made the mistake of using tag hoping that slashdot would ignore it and just show "" at the beginning of the post...

the following was sarcasm by the way...a joke...parody...
I really don't feel this way obviously
How dare they tell me I can't videotape a movie I PAID MONEY TO SEE! I want to make a copy of it, I paid for the movie after all.
Also, how dare they say I can't make a copy of my DVD. But you set me straight, thanks...
They didn't cover the release of 2.6.5...or 2.6.4 for that matter. Why cover a 2.4 variant?
Just wondering.
I wouldn't say that Zip failed...I would say it was a hit really. Jaz on the other hand...
I'm a layman...I have no idea what I talk about, but of course that doesn't stop me.

I want to send my ex-wife Alice to the moon...
Zoom boom to the moon Alice...TO THE MOON!
I'm curious NineNine...what "brick & mortar" place do you have? You're a retailer, but what do you sell?

They don't have store fronts
Wow, Apple closed all their Apple Stores?!?! Where did you hear this from?
They just opened a huge one in downtown Chicago...it's a pity...now they're all closed...according to you.
Really, I was wondering this myself. I mean, I've been playing OpenGL games for years now.
