I've yet to be disturbed or annoyed by someone using their cell phone. I take mine with me everywhere, but then again, I turn off the ringer and just use the vibrate function when I'm in some place with a lot of people. Of course, I don't disturb anyone because no one really calls me...ever....(sob)
But are people really annoyed by cell phones so much? Also, what's with these draconian laws with driving and cell phones? They say it's because you'll get distracted. But then again, shouldn't they outlaw radios...and talking to others in your car?
Soon we'll see these things tied to the new cameras that record everything in your life as you wear them.
That way, Santa can just fire up the workstation and download the info to see who's been naughty or nice.
This will also go into the Master Database. Remember when in high school when teachers used to threaten "this will go into your PERMINATE RECORD!" Where is this record at now?
I'm sure all this will get tied together somehow and come back to bite me in the ass...it always does.
Perhaps it's down 7.6% because the costs of CD's are up and the quality of music on them is way down?
Nah...can't blame the music industry! Have to lay the blame on someone else.
I'd be interested in knowing if the music industry went through a down period in the past...before digital music. Did they go through a slump in the 70's or 80's? If so, what did they blame that on then? I mean, if you have "up" years wouldn't it stand to reason that you'd have a "down" year in the past? Just wondering.
I heard they were making a "Rendezvous With Rama" movie some time ago...but now I can't really find any reference to it at all. This was years ago that I heard they were making it, so far in fact they could have made a sequel to it by now.
If they do it right, this would be an interesting project also. As long as they don't "hollywoodize" the project as they so often do.
(BTW, I'm glad they didn't hollywoodize the LOTR movies. If they had, they would have consolidated Sauron and Saruman into one character, put in a female or black hobbit character to keep it PC, put in a smart-mouthed kid, and cut the 3 movies down to one.)

I remember some time back that J. Geils actually left music because he was having a more lucrative career fixing Ferraris. Maybe not more lucrative, but certainly more fun for J. Geils himself.
He started out just fixing his own...then friends of his with Ferraris would ask him to tinker with theirs...one thing lead to another.
At least this is what I remember from memory. I think it's cool also.
How is this news? It's almost made to look like Longhorn has this great new feature! But it's just able to have a different look for the controls/windows. Wow. that's pretty innovative!
I mean, that's cool, Longhorn will be able to do this, but I still fail to see why this is a news story on Slashdot.
What's next? "New DVD player from Sony will play music CD's also!!!!"
Why was it that Superman always stood there and let the bad guys shoot their guns at them, but when they ran out of bullets and threw their guns at him, he ducked?
Perhaps Superman knew something we don't in this day and age. Instead of firing your gun at someone, just throw it!
And actually, I don't own a TV. I know of the Simpsons, and I know what they do. I read about them. Hard not to. But again, they're not taking any money out of my pocket. Also, in a billion years, none of this will matter at all. So why should it matter now? Enjoy the show! (meaning the show of Life).
But you should lighten up. You speak of karma (in you're spitting out of your hatred in regards to "cosmic justice"), yet you yourself seem to be on your way too. The love you take is equal to the love you make. Do you really belive that your vicious and highly emotional post will help anyone in the long run? Do you really belive that anyone here will read this and say "wow, that guy really knows what's going on". See that it was modded down as a Troll? What's your goal in life? Is this really contributing to mankind?
That last question just ask to yourself. No need to really reply to me. Look inward. Is the response you made really contributing to mankind?
So what do you suggest? Everyone everywhere get paid the same no matter what?
You condemn, but you offer no solution. So talent shouldn't be rewarded at all? People that make this claim usually are the ones with no talent.
Are you saying that the advertisers, where most of the money is generated shouldn't be spending money on shows like this? Perhaps just give their money away to everyone? Or perhaps don't advertise at all.
And you can see how selfish everyone has become eh? How are a bunch of voice actors putting their needs above anyone elses? Is the money they're asking for being taken out of someone elses pockets? Are they being so selfish that the money their asking for is actually taking food off of someone elses table? Hardly.
The Simpsons generate close to a billion dollars a year in merchandise and advertising. The Actors are a huge part of that. You may not belive that, but they are. They're not entitled to a slice of that? But I guess not. They should count themselves lucky that they get to make the money they do and be happy in the fact that they're making tons of money for some corporation!
I really don't understand where you're coming from. Are you against people making money for something they can do that you can't? Are you jealous? Why do you care what they make? Are they taking money out of YOUR pocket? They certainly aren't taking any money out of my pocket. I also don't blame others for something that I have control over. I don't blame others because they make more money that I do. If I don't make 100K a year it's MY FAULT! I detest people who blame others for what they don't have.
How much is enough? Who is to say "you make enough money"? How DARE you tell me what I can or cannot or should or should not make.
So what you're saying is, that even though Fox is making even more millions a year from just advertisements, not to mention syndication and DVD's, marketing of merchandise that the actors that do the voices (many doing multiple voices) should just be making what the average person makes? Sure, that seems fair.
I was going to ask you how much money you donate of your income to feed the poor and hungry...but since you decided to hide behind an Anonymous Coward post, I couldn't.
I'm glad they survived also. I'm a Gentoo guy through and through...but we all need to help each other out. I donated a few sheckles here and there to Mandrake when they were going through their hardships.
Hey, we all need to stick together, right? Giving back to the community, even if it's in some small way. Every little bit helps.
Actually no, they didn't get a deal from Apple. They paid full price from the Apple store for these G5's. There's even an interview from the guy that put the cluster together out there stating as much.
If by deal they got the G5's cheaper than they would have anything from Dell, then so be it. But Apple didn't come to them and say "if you use G5's, we'll cut you a lower price".
I must have missed that story where the 3rd fastest super computer in the world is made up of Dell computers.
Oh right, silly me!
But seriously, if Dells are faster, and cheaper...why didn't Va Tech use those instead? They didn't get a deal from Apple you know...they bought them all right through the online Apple store.
I'm not trying to confront you or anything, I honestly don't know. I hear claims of faster and fastest all the time from people, but when it comes down to people using them in applications, it kinda goes out the window.
As other have hinted below, why not take this a step further?
Bring out an extention for other apps.
For instance, being able to change OpenOffice to Microsoft Word or Microsoft Excel. That way you can fool the higher-up's into thinking you have "what everyone else is using".
Save the cash from buying Office and take that money and go on a vacation! Then, when you get back, and before you get charged with fraud, quit and go live in a goat farm somewhere making cheeses.
Ok, I got way off on a tangent there...but you see what I mean.
Though the original movie based on WotW scared the crap out of me as a kid, I think they could have done better.
If Spielberg can follow the BOOK. Like make it a period piece set back in the late 1800 early 1900s would be nice. Otherwise we'll just have another "Fourth of July" on our hands.
Go with the book I say. Adapt a screenplay based on that. NOT set in 2004, NOT based on the radio play, NOT based on the George Pal movie.
Spielberg is good, he's made crap in the past, but not everyone can be a Kubrick. His good movies far outweigh his Hooks and Jurrasic Park 2's.
What do you want, the address to my house so I can show you the task manager numbers, show you the update status? I hardly think a.jpg claiming to be a screenshot will do. (It wouldn't be enough for me.
Lol, whatever. Go troll somewhere else. I also notice that you're posting as an AC because you know everyone would jump all over you with this crap.
When you update XP, you have to reboot. You have to reboot. Don't show me anything, you reboot. I know this for a fact. I run an XP box also, sitting right here next to me. When I upgrade and patch, it has to reboot. When ATI comes out with a new driver, I have to reboot and uninstall the old driver.
REboot reboot reboot. Tell it to someone else troll. I'm sick of this crap.
No offense, but I haven't rebooted my XP system in months. I've changed more settings, upgraded more system files, and installed/removed more programs than the average user does in his/her lifetime. No reboots.
no offense, but you're lying. Just upgrading the system, just upgrading with Microsoft system updates that have been coming out for a while with XP, you have to reboot. Upgrading your video drivers you have to reboot. You have to uninstall then reinstall your video drivers to properly get them installed..which requires a reboot. The critical patches from MS require reboots for the most part.
So please, tell me another one. I only reboot when I'm upgrading my Kernel, that's it.
People like you are the reason people don't want to go to Linux. "I have everything running perfectly so you must be a moron." You know there is more than one Nvidia chipset out there. How about instead of posting your blather you found some helpful advice or just shut up.
Did I say he was a moron, I was mearly pointing out that if I had it working nice, it's not impossible to get it running. The original poster was implying that nvidia's drivers were all buggy. That's not the case, at least on my end.
Also, I notice that you posted under an anonymous coward and you yourself didn't post anything constructive. So it seems you don't even practice what you preach. Hypocrite!

Imagine a Beowulf cluster of these...that's the important...er...whatever...
I haven't looked around, but is it possible yet to build your own dual G5 based machine and put Linux on it?
Or does Apple lock up all the G5s that IBM makes?
I like the specs and power of the G5, but can't really afford a Mac.
Just curious.
Perhaps it's down 7.6% because the costs of CD's are up and the quality of music on them is way down?

Wow!
Decaf man...try some decaf!

Why bother?!?!

you'll pwn everyone!

Gee, my nvidia card works great. I have a lovely graphics card on it, and it runs like a champ.
FSAA, anisotropic filtering...runs nice and fast.
Also, I haven't rebooted since I upgraded my kernel to 2.6.3...which was 3 weeks ago.
I've yet to have this thing lock up on me. And I run Steam/Counterstrike, Warcraft III, UT2003 and UT2004-demo, Red Orchestra...all run great.
Don't know what you're doing wrong...
