Then maybe in 3 years they have a reseaonably priced HDTV set, and can pick up Nintendo's new box which is 3 years ahead of the PS3 and Xbox360.
Sounds like a win to me
Yes, until you realize Nintendo's new box won't do HD. If you think Nintendo will release yet another console in three years when the Revolution is still about a year away, you're going to be very disappointed.
I'm confused. I thought this was Googledot. Or was it SCOdot? Come on, Xbox360 is out in a few days. Of course you're going to get a lot of stories about it.
The black and white buttons, always a pain in the ass to find in the middle of intense Xbox games, have been converted into two small rectangles located over the triggers, making them much more intuitive to use."
They are easy to locate on the Duke! Bring back the Duke!:)
Eh, I know it's not going to happen. The new controllers look allright, though.
Although why anyone would want to create a new hardware solution for a platform nobody uses that is emulated at better than full speed on modern hardware is beyond me.
Come on, how cool would it not be to have a NES style controller that could plug into any TV and had the games built in/loaded via a memory chip? It's like those Joysticks they sell, with Activision games, Atari Games, C64 games, even Sega Megadrive games. It's way cooler than playing them via en emulator.
I dunno... PS2 had SSX, which is still among the best snowboarding games out there, and, at launchtime of the PS2, it was quite "fresh". Perhaps one of these 360 games will end up similar to that, but it sure isn't going to be a yearly update of a sports game. Is there a reason they don't just release a game and update the player stats on a yearly basis?
Well, for argument's sake, Win95 was the game platform the future - it was and Windows is still the premier gaming platform on the PC. Xbox runs an NT core, so it's still Windows all the way.
I played it until the end - but I didn't quite finish it. You see, I needed an artifact (can't remember just what it was) to finish the spell that would kill the demon on that little island you come to in the end. Unfortunately, I left the artifact behind earlier in the game, and going back was impossible as soon as you come to this island. I was *terribly* annoyed at the time, and uninstalled the game in disgust. I watched the ending by playing the in-game movie with a media player....
True, but sometimes you just feel like running into things and smash them up good.:D
Playing Burnout Revenge gives you a visceral thrill few other games can match, but I agree it's not very skill-oriented. Personally, I have very little patience for racers in general, especially the Gran Turismos of this world. They may be close to life, but to me, they're just dull.:)
do you prefer Gran Turismo 4 to Forza due to it's noticeably better graphics? Personally, I like them both, probably liking Forza's driving better, despite the oddly inferior graphics."
Looks like someone put the game names wrong way around. You were supposed to say Forza has better graphics.
Eh, who cares. It's very clear that Burnout Revenge is better than both. It's faster, it doesn't have crashes that go thud, and it has the best graphics of the lot.:P
So, in conclusion, Microsoft isn't making any money at all, apart from som chump change for MS Office and Windows (despite it being stolen everywhere).
It's a sound analysis you got there. Want a job in Gartner?
It's been the other way around for me. It's PC games that have been in season the last few months, with FEAR and Quake 4 being two recent purchases. Before that, it's been Pirates! and GTA San Andreas, which looks better on the PC than it ever did on any console. I'm also looking forward to Civ 4, which will come out in a week or so in Europe, and then there's the new Prince of Persia that I'll get for the Xbox. For the PS2... I have bought only one game for it the last nine months, and that was God of War, which I felt was okay, but ultimately unsatisfying. And yes, I have Gradius;).
It's a shame for sure, but I'm not surprised newer stuff won't work with ME. It's been many years since MS discounted the Win9x core (and thank god they did), and the newer versions of DirectX (which I'm guessing EA is basing their games on) aren't available for Win9X and ME. Really, everyone who's still using any Win9x product should either ditch it for Linux or update to Windows XP. It's such a horrible platform.:)
It's interesting, because this is exactly my situation too. My main work computer runs Windows XP 64-bit, while my other computers are either running Windows XP (all fully licensed) or Fedora. I'm using Synergy to switch between them with only one keyboard and mouse for all of them, and I find I use my Linux computers more and more as I get used to how they work. If not for a few progams that I really don't want to/can't live without (mainly Ultraedit (works pretty well under Wine though), Dreamweaver, Excel (I still prefer it to the Open Office one), IE (corporate intranet via SSH tunnel demands it), Directory Opus (seriously, this is one hell of an app) and a few other fringe apps like Newsrover that I can't get running under Linux with Wine and my Canon MPC190 for which there are no Linux drivers (nor Windows XP64 drivers, for that matter)...
Sure. So, why did the quote turn up years before the Xbox was in development? Just search usenet for discussions about this in the period of 1998-1999. It was a preposterous and stupid thing to claim, but Toy Story was hip at the time and Sony wanted in on the hype.
There's an overhead view in GTA: San Andreas too, but if it's the same as in Vice City, it's more like a cinematic view. It's awesome for driving around in the country side, but not so good for riding around in the cities. (You can enable it when walking.)
(Actually I'm not all too suprised that our systems were shutdown like that. They take themselves out of commission all the time. They really are ancient relics that need replacing but I think the cost of rewriting/porting the software to a different platform is the reason Walmart tortures us with these pieces of crap.)
They could also be secretly hating all their employers, and thus not bother to rewrite them at all.:D
But Installshield does so much more! That's why it's so darn expensive, running at up to over $3000 for the full, premier version. You can't deliver a 100K app at that price;)

6 mails in your inbox? I started out with the labels for folders approach (and I used to be a folder freak, with dozens of rules set up in Outlook to filter my mail), but now I don't have labels any more. I just have my inbox. It's currently got 12761 unread mails in it. I skim the subject, read what I need to, and don't worry about the rest. If there's something I need for later, I star it or mail to myself with a more proper subject. When I want it, I search for it. Simple as that.
Yeah, and thank God for that. The PS2 controller is only slightly better than the one that was supplied with the CD32. ;)
Obviously, it's a personal preference thing. I have never liked the Playstation controllers -- they're too compact and don't sit well in my hands.

Or console games converted to the PC. The GTA games doesn't work that well with keyboard and mouse.

Hehe. You could have "beaten the rush" by reading about this on digg three days ago. ;)

And this has what to do with Amazon? ;)

Look for the direct quote, you wont' find it. It was journalistic spin on what Sony has said at a press conference
;)
Unlike the spin Sony usually puts out on press conferences
Really? Well, there goes my theory :) Then it's just stupid. Perhaps it's a support issue....

I do missions for a while, and get bored. Then, I grab a bike, and try to see how much money I can get for an "insane stunt bonus".
:)
Me too, but it's a shame how little reward you get for insanse stunts in GTA: SA!
What I'd really like to see is for a way to save a replay - for those hilarious moments you occasionally experience
