I don't see an ipod of any sort passing military standards. It's great that you can use a pair of COTS parts to make ballistics calculations easier, but this will never pass the test.
I tried to use Octave for a while. It's a disaster. Most of the functionality is there, but some of my code ran at a snails pace in Octave. I "ported" it to MATLAB, and the speedup was around 100-200 fold.
Trust me, when you're swamped with hundreds of inconsiderate assholes, you don't have the time to fuck around with stuff like this. If there's a manager around, it's basically a guarantee they'll point them out, because it's the fastest way to get you the hell away from them, but if they don't know where one is, good luck. There's just no way you can leave a line of people or a ton of cooking food there and run around a multiplex looking for a manager who is probably hiding upstairs where you can't even go.
Yeah I remember back in '62 when I sailed across the Atlantic to help settle Jamestown and to escape European tyranny. Oh wait, NO I DON'T. Way to troll, buddy.
Are you serious? We're talking computers here. Tools, and possibly playthings. Who bitches that their welder doesn't look attractive? Erector set? Xbox? Bandsaw? Etc?
I think if you ask a typical (sane, reasonable) person what they look for in a computer purchase, "attractive" doesn't show up. It isn't a painting or a sculpture.
I wonder how many people will go to a state park on the condition that it has wi-fi. Frankly, I don't think this service would exist except for the profit this company will be making, and I'm sure the state will take a cut of that. Operating costs will be next to nil (a meager connection and maintenance checks), and the charges are sizable.
Aye. I just hope these assholes don't put antennas up all over the park. At the visitor's center only, please (even though I doubt I'll be in Texas... ever).
Wow. I have sympathy. They were doing something well within their rights, and are forbidden from working in their chosen field, wasting whatever education they had completed? Absolutely ridiculous. If the punishment had fit the crime, no punishment would have been exacted.
College (dorms) is (are) the TV killer.
Seriously, with networked computers (games, free shit) and a bunch of your peers next door, TV takes a back seat.
So, wait a second... you want to play a skill-based game and *not* get better? Go play board games or something if you just want some fun without a challenge.
Well.. I despise CS, but whenever I am goaded into playing, cheaters are fairly rare. They certainly exist, but more than likely you're just playing against people who don't suck. Headshots are almost the norm if you aren't either lagging a ton, or aiming poorly.

I've never seen a clock that read 24:00:00 in the US, or anywhere.
What I meant was... -256.
Pretty sure that's -65536, not "negative zero".
KJV is modern english. This is old english.
Canada.

So, you're complaining that your illegal free stuff is too much of a hassle because it's rarred and not zipped? Give me a break.

this guy got shafted. Canned for doing your job?
Especially given that Theora is essentially the same as VP3, which is already in use for streaming video stations.
If XviD wanted to compete with DivX, they'd also have to pay MPEG licensing fees and charge for their product. No thanks.

My pace is over 5 feet, and I'm no giant.
Living in Minnesota, I assure you, only pansies stop working at 0 degrees. ~30 below is when it starts being a real problem.

It could cost them if everbody in Japan with a fat connection started using bittorrent.
Isn't that great? Competiton at its best. When all your choices suck, all your choices can afford to suck.
No kidding. It's in somebody's fscking yard. Pitiful.
