Really? My "good" old DOS apps sometimes did a bunch of changes to the CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT that made my system more unstable. How can it be considered as "copy a binary and run a binary and delete a binary"
I know all those 31i73 h4x0r5 care about open source (including me, who's not an 31i73 h4x0r), but do you think that average user Joe will care? He probably concerns if he knows how to use that system more than the freedom of the codes.
I remember that time when I started using Linux (it was RedHat 5), I was clueless on how even setup sound card. The Linux book that I read suggested a simple approach using sndconfig, but it did not work (turned out to be a lot more complicated).
Actually, it would be difficult to tell where the spammers were from these days. People (especially winblows users) generally don't have the sense of alertness toward those virus e-mails. It won't be surprised that most of the spams were sent from those infected computers (aka "Zombie")
I do agree your points that blaming East Asian for major spamming source is biased and stereotype. Most of the spams I received these days are still in English, advertising those penis enlargement stuff and "Nigerian" opportunities...
For me, open source means freedom.
I would like my Palm Pilot to display Chinese + Japanese, but the current software (CJKOS & CHOS) are not opensource.
There are still bugs in those software that keep crashing my PalmOS (even they support my Palm Pilot model).
I would have to provide them more information regarding the problem (or even debug the software) if they set them free.
As I said before, I am still waiting for them to release ISOs...
As soon as I know that they are releasing the free ISOs (just like other distros), I will buy a copy of SuSE.:)
If you want to support open-source projects, wouldn't it be more efficient for spending money on purly open-source distro? At least you know all your money spent on the developments will be open-source project, instead of some portion on proprietary software.
Anyway, I might have to change my stance on SuSE, since Novell just declared YaST opensource.
Get over the OGG thing. It's not going to get adapted. It's like BETA and VHS. It might be a little better, but people don't care.
I personally use 160bit AACs for most everything.
AAC? I encode my CDs in OGG format and I can bring it everywhere. I use Winamp on Winblows, Macamp on OSX, and XMMS on Solaris + Linux. (My school has all those types of machines).
One time I encoded a new album into AAC, and the XMMS on Linux(SuSE) boxes refused to play it.
Putting OGG support in hardware does not hurt those player manufacturers.
And if you pay, you know that some of your money is spend on developers working on open projects Not in the case of Suse, unless they open-source YaST and provide ISO image download (Don't tell me about the included commerical software crap - they could have those software removed in the ISO image).
I would rather spend my money on other distros like RedHat, Gentoo, Mandrake, etc...
The thing that worries me is, the attacker has the ability to spoof another source ip address. What if he spoof to be another server which also returns fire? That probably brings both sides down.
A GPL-ed software cannot be sub-licensed, by purchasing SCO's license, EV1 lose all the rights to parts of the software that SCO don't have right on ( perhaps the whole software as SCO's claim could be find baseless). Bye bye EV1, you probably don't want to face lawsuit from GPL software developers, right?

I am not a Mac lover, but I really appreciate the idea of the way new Mac OSX apps install.
It makes so much more sense to drag the whole icon(shall we say, package) to folders rather than waiting forever for installshield to finish...

I think it means SCO Crushes Linux[SCO]
to Microsoft
Really? I think Windows is not out of Alpha yet. Their "Beta" version is actually a pre-release of Alpha
Mod the parent way up!
This is the best SCO joke I ever heard!
Oops... I should have clarify the partial transparency... My fault.
Last time I checked, IE still didn't do PNG transparency right.

In a Stallman perspective, you have to put the prefix GNU before NANO, so it will be GNU/NANO instead.
I am still waiting to see a GNU/Stallman :)

I should have patent chopsticks, so that all these Chinese + Japanese + Korean restaurants have to pay me.
Hmm... I guess one of the bird tranformed into a fox recently
Are they going to rename the company
Rollins?
Now, is it clippy or crappy?
Interesting... M$ gives me a great idea of patenting something that has a lot of prior art.
Maybe I should patent chopstick?
[Patent Description]
A pair of similar stick, use by one hand and for dinning purpose.
I pay the opera ticket to see the real musicians show, not the synthesizer's.
It is similar to buying a classical music CD vs. midi file.
So...You think McDonalds and McBride are coincidence?
